Sure, I'd be happy to give some hints if you need them whenever you get the time to try it yourself.

Let me know if it works for you. I have only been able to test the military unique ship, since that was the only one I had the requirements for, although I'm sure all of them work now. Note that any unique ships bought with my old fix will remain as they are, they will not be retroactively fixed. You will have to buy a new one if you want to see them working. Also, try to see whether the unique equipment is now spawning over time in Space stations. Different space stations carry
SUCCESS! Not only do the unique ships work now, but the unique equipment is spawning now too! Summary of bugs: The trade good search parameters do not work properly: Fixed by me. Unique ship crash: Now fully fixed by me, the ships have their special powers, and the right price. Unique equipment doesn't spawn: This was infact the SAME bug as the unique ship crash. My fix fixed that too as a side-effect. The unique equipment looks nice, and contains unique hulls
Operation fix the executable seems to be a success, just view [link="http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/8550/trueuniqueshipge4.png"]this screenshot[/link]. I will have to some further testing before I make the fix publicably available. As you can see it is bigger, more expensive and mentions unique abilities.
Work on getting the unique ships to do unique stuff is progressing. Apparently the unique ability isn't being found. As a test, I have been able to get the unique ship to use the abilities and descriptive text of a micromodule, which worked perfectly. That proves that the system is functional at least, and fixing it may be possible.
Quite safe. I have both, and it hasn't given me any problems.
No years of knowledge required (to get started). I did not have much prior knowledge before trying to fix Space rangers 2, just some general programming, assembly and hex editing knowledge. I use [link="http://www.hex-rays.com/idapro/idadownfreeware.htm"]The free version of IDA[/link] for disassembly purposes.
I have been digging further into the code of the unique ships. The situation: When you ask about the unique ship, the code actually creates it, in order to look up/calculate its price. At the step of adding the unique properties, it crashed with the error SpecialToEquipment, because it knew something went wrong. When I forced the program to ignore the error, it would calculate a value of one, it would fail altogether. My 'fix' until now has been the skipping the unique properties st
There should have been a manual.pdf in the install directory. If impulse did not install it, you can either use StarDock Central, which will install it, or download the manual manually from the stardock central servers: [link="http://sdc1.stardock.com/public/eld2/production/base/manual.pdf_"]Cab file containing manual[/link] You can extract the manual from the CAB file with an archive program such as 7zip or winrar.
The error suggests that the following file is corrupted: "\music\planet\bunker.dat" Please try to redownload the game/file and check whether that solves the problem.
No, it does not go away. But you can only ask about it on the stations that have build one. If you did not write the station names in your notes (F1), you will have to go find one by visiting the stations.
Here is a direct download link of the manual straight from the Stardock Central Servers: Download the [link="http://sdc1.stardock.com/public/impr/production/Base/Manual/ir_manual_en.pdf_"]Imperium Romanum Manual Here[/link]. The download is in fact a CAB archive containing the manual. You can extract it with any popular archive program such as WinRAR or 7zip, 7zip being freeware.
Did you perchance use Impulse to install the game? Try reinstalling/updating with SDCentral, since it is possible someone forgot to upload the manuals to Impulse.
According to the data files, there should be a manual subdirectory wherever you installed the game. It should contain the manual in pdf format in German, English and French.
In the space rangers 2 directory there should be an Errors subdirectory which contains error logs. Post the latest error log here, so that we have more information to help you. If the crash is of such a nature that no error log is created, please post the contents of the ########.log file immediately after a crash instead. You can view the log files with notepad. Just saying that there is a crash with the RTS battles does not give us much to go on.
The links seem to work for me. That is, the ones which I did not actively deactivate because they had some bug or so. (Notably the links in reply 8 and 4, the one in reply 12 still works, and the one in reply one does too.) Be sure to download the complete fix from [link="http://www.mediafire.com/?ne1dd1nzc9b"]this link[/link].
The two numbers are not supposed to represent the same thing. The smaller number is the download size, but since the download is compressed, the actual installation size is bigger, which is represented by the larger number of the two.
Yes, when you try to purchase a unique ship the game crashes to desktop. That is a known issue, along with the problem with the filters for the goods-search. See [link="http://forums.impulsedriven.com/315920"]this thread[/link] for more information and for a download link to the patch I made for these issues.
Yes, I used IDA pro, the free version anyway. How did you guess?
There is no reason to ever play the original game, just as there is no reason to ever play a game unpatched before applying a patch. You are not missing anything by never having played pre-expansion.
No, Space rangers 2 through impulse has no copy protection.
I just successfully bought the unique military base ship, having made 50 pirate kills. With 1000 size, 15 armor, and all slots open, it was a fine hull indeed. It also supposedly gives a bonus to droid repair rate. So I'd say my fix works.
Space rangers Reboot is based on the latest russian version. So yes, all those fixes are included in the reboot expansion, although the Russian version already had them pre-reboot.
In fact, the change list posted there was translated by a russian to give people an Idea of what new features the expansion would bring. But to save himself work, he did not translate all of it, and skipped the instructions on how to use the new features, since the expansion was not yet released anyway. Which is why I had to use a [link="http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_url?doit=done&tt=url&intl=1&fr=bf-home&trurl=http%3A%2F%2Frangers.ru%2Ffiles%2Fpatches.htm&lp=ru_en&btnTrUrl=Translate
But money was not the problem. Getting 500 dominator/50 pirate/100 civilian kills was. Do you know a cheat that sets the kill counter? I don't. And I read the cheat list, including the new cheats that were added in the expansion, and there was no such cheat that I could find.
