I am having problems upgrading ships. I either missed something or it is a bug. Most likely I missed it for I am new to this game. Whenever a new ship upgrade comes available, I don't seem to be able to upgrade that class of ship. I see the upgrade screen with the items that can be upgraded but the cost to upgrade is shown as zero. What is the sequence to upgrade? Do I have to manually upgrade that class of ship first, save it as the same name and then request that all ships of that class be up

I am new to this game and it is too cool, but I am still stumbling around. How do you make aliances with other races? I read the manual from cover to cover and watched the tutorial and only saw how to trade with other races. I must have missed this detail on how to make aliances, or does this option only show up as you research more into the diplomacy tree?
I came across the ship designing bug where components dissapear when you finish and save, and the ability to see the other races influence area in the minimap before you explore space is not cool, I wish in the patch that would get fixed, or add an option to ask the race you meet to tell you where their space is, then have it show up in the mini map. Otherwise the game is awesome. I would be coo
I am playing as human and I spread my points between research, diplomacy, happiness and millitarization. I also chose the tech party, for it seems to me that if you don't tech up fast enough you are the patzy of the universe and you don't last, for every race more powerfull will want a piece of you.
Is there a way to change the ship colours once you have started the game?
Cultural borders should be made to show up when you have a combination of knowledge and events. If you have stellar cartography and when you meet a new race you should have the option to ask where it's empire is located, where the wilingness to answer would have to do with 'if the race trusts you; how similar the race is to yours and/or if it perceives you are to powerfull it may choose to stay hidden. This will add a new facet to the game. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/C
Can new ships one makes be shared w/ other players? If not, it should. I spent yesterday three hours building ships; it is very addictive. It would be interesting to see what other players have made.

Thanks, I will download the missing parts.
I created this very detailed ship with many parts, and it looked spiffy. But when I finalized it, there were many parts missing. Is there a buffer limit to the amount of detail your ship can have? Did I go over a set limit and the game edited them out? The parts that went missing were all the same part I repeated on the new ship. Also, I purchased the download with a 'to be mailed' copy of GC2, but the downloaded version has no sound and the tutorial button is grayed out. Is this no
Thanks guys. This game looks impressive. Wife wont be happy, but I will give it a try.
I love this type of game, but I have not played GC1 and GC2 looks great. But I have a few questions before I buy it. Are the space battles in 3D or does it take place in a 2D plane? Is the universe in 2D? How large is the universe in this game? And does the downloaded version of this game come with a full manual?
