Quoting Qyth, reply 36I got it for $40. I've put Elemental up for now. Playing Tropico 3's expansion from the current sale while I wait for my Civ5 pre-order. I will get back to Elemental now and then. This is a great idea. I bought Tropico 3 from a sale on D2D, do you have any idea if the expansion will work with that? I've already been burned by Impulse's copy of Oblivion not being compatible with some mo

You know, after seeing how this went down, I'd go ahead and get rid of your QA entirely and instead just hire outside consultants that have absolutely no stake in the game at all. Internal QA + self-admitted "blind" developers/CEO with emotional connections to their work + featurecreep = "yes sir yes sir three bags full."

$15 at most. Really, $0. It's not worth the time, heartache, or disk space. Check back at first expansion. Assuming Stardock is still in business at that point, of course. King's Bounty: Crossworlds comes out in two weeks, and Civ5 a week or two after that. Spend the $50 on those (KB:C is $20, and there will be a $20 discount on Civ5 at release in some stores). Since you're not actually buying a produ

Review reads like a 4, and the reviewer makes great points supporting his opinion of 4. 4 or 5 is exactly what this game deserves, even at 1.7. It's a completely and utterly embarrassing mess, and they even did Stardock a favor in not reviewing 1.0 (which is what every review site says they review -- the gold master). The game is poorly designed, poorly programmed, and poorly executed. Really, it's in such a poor state

Great review, and sad to see the rabid fanboi echo chamber already chomping for Tom Francis's (a well known and well respected reviewer) throat. Maybe the game wasn't released "early," but it was certainly released in an "unacceptable" state. Let's ignore, you know, rational argument about that fact, or the almost 50% disappointment rating, or the well-written reviews spelling out exactly why this game isn't where it should be, or the general state of the forums,

Yes, a decent matchmaking program. A decent, manually-run, audience-of-less-than-five matchmaking program that even with the same five users and manual control still managed to fail sometimes. Tell you what, how about YOU go write a matchmaker for Demigod. It'll only take a few days' work, of course. Don't know how to program? Well the project is apparently so easy that it should only take you a week or so of online tutorials before you can write

I just don't understand why anyone thought a peer to peer multiplayer model was going to be a good idea in the first place. Practically everyone's behind at least one router and one firewall. Arguably the vast majority of users don't even know they're behind them, let alone what either one of those things actually do and how to configure them. If you're trying to take DOTA's market, how hard would it have been to go on any DOTA forum and see the countless posts about "WHY

This is why you make the full version downloadable for free (via torrent, no reason eating SD bandwidth) by everyone but make them pay to play multiplayer and patch. Not really. You'd lose percieved value that way. But when you stop and think about it, this is what they're already doing... just not officially.

Total, your I-own-a-thesaurus posting style is both obnoxious and a transparent attempt to make your points sound more intelligent than they actually are. I know the freshman english teacher at your highschool heaps praise on you for smothering every little phrase in adjectives, but that's not how real writers write. Your tone makes you sound like there's a greased flop of black hair over your left eye and a bunch of razor scars down your wrists. To simplify: You're tr
I think he's being tongue in cheek.
Is he? I read an interesting post by Michael Fitch, one of the designers for Titan Quest, about how not supporting pirates is much worse than you'd think:
One, there are other costs to piracy than just lost sales. For example, with TQ, the game was pirated and released on the nets before it hit stores. It was a fairly quick-and-dirty crack job, and in fact, i

4 Rooks might have a chance if they can farm up enough xp for their base HP to get crazy. Maybe Two Sednas with level 1 Priests and Two Rooks all stacking HP would have a chance. Do multiple healing auras stack? You could go a totally different angle and make a pushing team that tries to kill the enemy citadel as fast a possible instead of actually trying to kill enemy DGs. Two Rooks going stats/tower drain and two QoTs going Bramble Shield/wha
UB Is overpowered. Moves fast, does high dps and can self heal + stun. Whats missing? He has no drawback...
None of the Assassins really have drawbacks, though.

Either he got a super-hard crit (I've crit for 4.5k before with UB thanks to both Ashkandor and the Crit Gloves proccing at the same time and stacking with UB's +%damage buff), or you fed all game, bought bad items (if you bought anything at all) and were grossly outleveled. I'm betting the latter. No offense.

Good points. Just some off-the-cuff ideas that I'd like to add: Erebus -Make his Lifesteal Aura a level 1 or 2 skill (and have its own upgrade line, maybe grants IAS or Movespeed later). Why it's rank 15 is beyond me. QoT -Shambler AI needs a fix. Not only are they weak, they choose not to attack 90% of the time. -QoT feels like a one-trick pony, and that trick is Bramble Shield. Mulch

I don't see Shatter being that big an issue. For the 2100+800 combo to work the TB in question has to be, what, 15 or 16? Rook can have 8-9k hp at that point (and slamming for over 2k... in an AOE!), UB and Regulus can be critting for 1k+, Sedna's regenerating 100hp/s or something stupid, and QoT is throwing up shields in the realm of 1.2k. Let's not talk about Erebus or Oak. There are item-based counters -- there's the Silence artifact (which isn't worth the money i

What did Circle of Fire used to do again? I forget. Maybe if COF followed you around like a halo instead of just sitting in place. Or you could leave it as it is but change it to last last longer and, I dunno, snare, so it'd be more of a defensive area-denial tool.
Just because items are avalaible to everyone, doesnt meant they are automatically balanced.
That's a very good point. Of course 5v2 is going to be possible. If you've got 4-5 fresh-off-the-boat know-nothing pubs who don't leave the base til three minutes in because they're slowly reading all the skill and item descriptions versus two pros who are on vent using synergistic strategies like TB Ice Nova + Rook Slam (or whatever), yeah, the pubbi

It's a faster, better balanced, and more elegant solution just to remove the General/Assassin distinction as soon as politically viable, as Frogboy mentioned. Tinkering with Minion items and Morale and Idols and Ability Summons may make things better for Generals, but it preserves the design that hasn't proven to be all that effective yet. Generals are always going to have to buy Assassin items if only to survive the game and not feed. It's simpler just to make them Assass

I understand where you're coming from inno, but I think you misunderstand me when I talk about "Cheese."
Oh, and mistform isn't imbalanced. It's incapable of killing people. It USED to do 600 damage per second(but damage the caster too). Mistform is useful because it gives you control, but it is FAR from cheesey or overpowered. If anything, it could use a tiny nerf.
I never said Mistform
