Ironclad needs to give you guys a bag of cash.. You've made the game much more entertaining!
ginzero
I'd check but I don't want risk getting the "look your shoes un-tied" smurk on my face..:)
Gunship 2000, 1991 played on the first computer I bought for $1200 which if I recall was a 386dx-33mhz.. with 128MB RAM.. it had a "turbo" button too which I think kicked it into 40mhz.. lol
Anyone try running expansion on wine lately?
This is by no means good parenting advice, but have you considered spiking his drink?
how much tequila to make a 25lb baby pass out for a few hours? -this is a joke.. would never actually spike baby's bottle- :P
I need a "how to distract 15 month old long enough to play new beta" thread...
Thank you devs/beta feedbackers for the work you put in! Can't wait to try it out, I havent played the beta for a while.. got frustrated with the mines!!
I use the vasari mine layer like a bomber.. lol Vasari mines are a tad too powerful.
better late than half-baked
Going from TKINS diplomacy suggestion.... How about enhancing the pirates? -ability to pay them to attack a specific planet.. hunt a capital ship.. structure?
im sure this has been suggested somewhere before.. dual display support.. like supreme commander.
Lot of good advice here.. I say use both and learn to make them inter-operate. The more operating systems you know the better.
8800gt.. I think they can be had under $200.00 Do your homework and stay within your budget ( I rarely do .. lol) .
Lately only 3, work laptop/desktop and home PC. Back in the day I used up to a thousand CPUs at a time (fluid dynamics modeling, scene generation, etc.) Here's a photo of one of the first beowulf clusters I built circa 1999 all linux of course.
I see where fragiD is coming from and agree.. Even though "continue playing" was selected and you did "win" already I think the game should at least show the remaining enemy faction portrait as broken (defeated) when all his planets conquered and ships/structures destroyed... I don't think this is a big issue either and would rather the developers work on more pressing issues..... btw beta is kickass!
Kazgoth15 and bradyule, these are AWESOME tips, more than I even considered. Thanks alot!I'll try them out as soon as possible. Thanks!
I second that.. If these tips aren't on the "..tips" sticky they should be!
Yup, you've got the basic game opening down. What size maps, AI level are you playing? Use phase stabilizers and connect your front-line worlds, a small defense fleet assisted by planet defenses should repel most attackers. Vasari is my favorite race to play and I've been doing well against multiple Normal AI on large maps however I'm still not good enough to defeat multiple Hard AI in FFA. Still working on my strats...
I just upgraded from a 7800GT to an 8800GT .. wow.. graphics are really nice at all "Highest" levels. Prices are dropping for the 8800GTs Newegg has them around $200 and they are faster then the newer 9600s... I m running Pentium D 950 3.4ghz CPU, 3GB RAM... dual 21inch LCD panels
I usually get the colonizer first when I play TEC however when I play Vasari I prefer to get the battleship and use it for planet grabs early on to drink the AI's milkshake...
Agreed, very informative post! Does the AI use "feint" tactics when attacking planets? I played against a Vasari Hard AI for the first time recently and it seemed like they would come in with a few ships to try and bait me to go on the defense..
I've played a few games against multiple normal AI using mixed fleets and last night for the first time tried playing against hard AI using LRM spam. Wow.. yeah LRM spam is a pretty quick game ender.... I still prefer (have more fun) making mixed fleets and watching them take apart the AI with cool special abilities and attacks..
Thanks for the time and effort you put writing that up, very good read for a noob like me. It's really cool to see these different "guides" from people, the more the better I say.. I haven't played against a Human opponent yet however I'd like to see some sort of general guide with that. It'd probably go something like: 1. stay on the offense 2. by pass defenses 3. kill their economy 4. see 1
Stropsure complete... thats all I got to say....
LMAO .. behold my creations...
Brilliant!! Bookmarking right now... Thanks!
In addition to the the fire power of missles and fighters already mentioned my fav. ability of the Sova is Embargo "Steals income from the planet's production, slows construction of ships and structures, and denies enemy civilian merchant ships from leaving the gravity well." It's nice to park a Sova in resource occupied system while you're dismantling it....
