As I've said previously, I'm 99% sure it is not anything else causing the icons to move around. If I uninstall Fences, and just arrange my icons on my desktop, everything stays exactly where it is supposed to be. My FENCES stay exactly where they are supposed to be. BUT if I have fences installed, and I have any icons that are NOT inside a fence, then they get shuffled around my desktop most times when my monitor comes out of sleep mode. I think this might have som

I have turned off Auto Arrange. I still have Align to grid turned on.
It happened too fast to get a screenshot. I could perhaps use my phone to film my monitor powering up and see if that catches it. Usually I don't see anything like I did yesterday though. The monitor just comes up looking like that from black. Seeing the icons move around this time was the first time that'd ever happened.
Unfortunately these setting changes didn't work. Interestingly, I sort of witnessed the icon shuffling this morning. When I turned the power on, the display was actually up, and I saw the monitor resizing itself and for a brief period it looks like the resolution was lower, and the fences and icons were all sort of squished together for a second. Then the monitor restored the correct resolution, the fences returned to their normal positions, but all the icons got shuffled to
This is what I suspect is happening as well. I didn't have this issue with my previous monitor, so I think it might have something to do with how my new Gigabyte monitor is detected by Windows when it powers up. Still, if I shut off Fences, none of my icons ever move around or are reshuffled or rearranged and shifted to the bottom right. It only happens when Fences is enabled. I have made the configuration changes that were recommended, and I'll report back on whethe
Yes, I tested this as well. Whether my monitors are coming out of sleep mode or I'm turning them on manually... I get the same behavior. I thought at one point it might relate to the order I turn them on? So I spent several days turning them on in a specific order (primary first, then secondary) and that worked for a while and then it happened again. So I don't think that made a difference, it's just that the issue is inconsistent. Sorry I missed that you'd ask
Hello yes, I did test your suggestion for the purge and reinstall steps. I indicated that did not work back in my Reply #4 above. I could have been a bit more explicit about that though. Sorry.
Any further suggestions here? Any chance Stardock will be able to patch this issue in a future Fences version?
It's hard to replicate because for some reason it is not consistent. However I turned off sleep mode on my system and just tested powering my monitors off and on a few times. One time when the main monitor came back up, I saw the icons move around on the desktop. So I think whatever is causing this, it probably is somehow related to the monitors turning on. For what it's worth, my main monitor is a Gigabyte (why did I say Samsung? I got confused with my TV bran
I was about to reply back and say that this worked successfully. I had a couple days after doing the full removal and reinstall where my icons stayed where they were. Then I got home from work today and turned on my monitors / work my computer from sleep mode.... and they're all back down to the lower-right of the main monitor again. I'm perplexed as to why this issue seems to be inconsistent. I'm wondering if maybe part of it has to do with the ORDER that I turn my
Fences Version 4.12 Windows Version: 22H2 OS Build 19045.3086
I've been using Fences for many many years but I'm a bit frustrated by this issue. I have dual monitors, which are slightly different sizes. My main monitor is set to 150% scaling (it's a 4k monitor) while the other monitor is set to 100% (it is a 1080p monitor) I don't know for sure if this contributes to the issue, but I'm mentioning it in case it does. I have several fences that I have setup on my main monitor. Then I have a handful of icons that I like to keep
It's been a long time coming, but you got me. I'm reinstalling to check this out. I always thought this series had a lot of potential and it's been a few years since I last visited. Looking forward to it!
I hope you get help for this, I have fond memories of playing Demigod. It's too bad that it never really took off as a multiplayer game. I thought it had a lot of great potential. Did you purchase the game from Stardock or from Steam? Can you check your "My Downloads" section of Stardock and see if they have your serial number there? Sorry I can't be more help, I just loved Demigod, and I'm glad to see people still play it!
Hey @Frogboy! Just want to say that I've had Star Control: Origins in my Steam wishlist pretty much since the game launched. The only reason I hadn't bought it yet is because of my limited free time. I planned on buying the game as soon as I had the time to play it. This little controversy made me think you guys needed a little good-will thrown your way, so I'm going to go ahead and buy it directly from you guys. Reading the correspondence betwe
But isn't want we want is better combat. Not just tactical combat. Yes there are many ways to do tactical combat, but might there also be way to do better combat that wouldn't even be called tactical combat. Example civ5. That game's combat has a lot of elements like flanking and units with different range and even carriers. It has a fair amount of tactical depth, but it's not what you would call tactical combat.
Another option for what you could argue would be "Strategic" combat but not "Tactical" combat would be something similar to "Gratuitous Space Battles". Basically you have your starting fleet, and your opponent has his. You have NO CONTROL over the actual battle itself. However, the battle actually plays out realistically, instead of randomly and chaotically like GalCiv 2. The two fleets fly towards each other, launch their long range weapons first. Fighters s
I definitely want to see some kind of tactical combat from Galciv3. That doesn't mean I want GalCiv3 to be like MOO or SotS or any other game. I think there is a lot of different ways that you can take tactical combat. I'd just like to see GalCiv3 delve a little deeper than GalCiv2's "movie combat". There are lots of different ways you could implement tactical combat: 1) Full Tactical turn based control (MOO2 style) - Choose every movement, choose
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add in Tactical Combat. I could care less about Multiplayer. Tactical Combat is my #1 wish list feature I'd like to see in the game. For the naysayers, give them Autoresolve combats like Galciv2. PLEASE ADD TACTICAL COMBAT!!!! I can't wait. I'll throw money at you even without tactical combat, but I'll add cake and other perks if Tactical Combat is added as well. Let me also add that I'm puzzle
I'm not at home so I can't post a screenshot, but in my current FE game, the AI definitely used a strategic spell on me. As soon as I declared war on a nearby faction, I saw a spell animation above one of my cities. However, my issue is that I couldn't tell what spell had been CAST. There was no icon in the city description or on the overworld map indicating what enemy enchantment was cast on it. In the end, by individually hovering over the different n
I haven't installed the Beta for 1.29, but I thought I'd share this for Frogboy's benefit in case he's watching. I sent some scouts into the backfield of my nearby ally to explore what is back there, and this is what I found... http://imgur.com/3XSjn2a Essentially what we have is multiple stacks of Pioneer armies huddled around a settle-able spot, a crystal crag, and an earth shard. Looks like ALL the faction
Thanks for the tip about the arrow keys! Playing my third game now. I have a much better hold on the beginning of the game at this stage. Lots of fun stuff happened at the beginning of this game which is making it really enjoyable. Completed a goodie-hut quest which resulted in an award of a Wolf Summon. So I got a wolf companion for my Champion. Then my Sovereign obtained a Training collar from a random bit of treasure. She happened to be right n
I know I'm pretty late to the party, but I thought I'd post my thoughts on Fallen Enchantress, as a huge fan of Elemental. Yes, Elemental did have issues, but I can't deny that I had fun playing it. I think I beat 2 or 3 maps, and that equates to at least 30-40 hours or so of gameplay. Elemental didn't dethrone Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic or Heroes of Might and Magic 3 like I'd hoped it would, but it was playable. Other games and hobbies and life
I'm a huge Elemental fan. I watched this game for months and months before it came out. I was playing the Beta Builds prior to release, but allowing people with much more time on their hands than me to give input. My initial reaction to the release of Elemental was poor. I really wanted it to be a great game that I would still be playing years after release, like GalCiv2, Heroes of Might and Magic, and Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic. Obviously, E
Nifty! Thanks for the info, I'll do that. It is slightly annoying to do I suppose... but it is BETA afterall. It would be kind of silly for Ironclad to waste time making it easy to swap out the expansion for the vanilla game when they really need to be devoting all that time and effort to polishing the expansion.
