Early adoption is less of a financial incentive than a "I want to support the dev, play earlier, and get a couple perks here and there". Not "I'm buying early to save more."
Cool, except I was buying it explicitly to save more, which was why I jumped on the "Last chance for a discounted pre-order" offer, you seem to be missing this. I bought it under the premise that it wouldn't be any cheaper until release, bu

Oh good, that solves the need for h ypotheticals, Brad states in that thread that he agreed to the lowered price. Screw keeping to you word, screw giving refunds to unhappy customers, but send out emails claiming to condemn poor business practices when you are one of the worst examples.
Well, I work in games and I know Steam don't put anything on sale without permission, it's not a matter of opinion. The fact that you're so proud of an opinion formed in ignorance is sad, and the spreading of such misinformation is unhelpful, but if you're so opposed to facts then you're likely correct that there's no convincing you. Perhaps you could tell us though, did you just imagine one day that surely Steam just sets sales prices willy-nilly, or is your o
Steam never puts things on sale without the publisher's permission, don't talk crazy. It's also not about $10, it's about breaking promises and shafting early adopters - you know, the thing the article from the stardock newsletter talks about being bad. The gist of your post, besides false information about how Steam sales work, seems to be "Lol, OF COURSE Stardock wouldn't keep the promise they sold the game with!" which seems to be an odd def
I found this article in the stardock newsletter particularly annoying considering the horrible bait and switch you pulled with GC3 founders. To recap, when GC3 was first offered as a project there was a newsletter sent out saying "Last chance to pre-order GC3 at a discounted price!". I bought it at the time, but then, before release you put the game on sale for $10 cheaper during early access. Sales happen, but when your offer's selling point is that it's the last discount before rele
FYI Brad never got back to me, so I guess his refund offer was dishonest or only for people who say rude words. I mean, I could be rude if that's the policy, but I suspect Brad is just more into snappy comebacks than customer service.
And I might as well quote the reply I am talking about:
If you'd like a refund, I'm happy to provide it as long as you agree to leave and never come back and never purchase anything ever again from us

Can I get in on this deal? Keeping it short and polite, I don't like the game and I didn't like it being sold cheaper during EA
No, what I would expect them to do is take the steam offer and offer the difference back or a refund to any customers who took the earlier deal and were upset about it now. Also, you might want to re-evaluate your stance since you don't have all the info, I asked for a refund via the stardock support system shortly after I made this thread (I actually thought Brad would be cool about it and sort me out here without having to take an official step). Instead I just go
If you ever saw ghost busters theN you may remember the quote: if so eone asks you if you're a god you say yes. If steam offers to feature your game even if it means discount ting it you say yes.
If you ever saw The Empire Strikes back, you might remember the part where Vader altered the deal - further reinforcing him being the bad guy and turning Lando from an ally to an enemy. So you're saying it's
It's pretty amusing some people here have the gall to talk down to me while at the same time imaging that Steam just randomly put people's games on sale. Game Developers/Publishers have to agree to suggested sales, or indeed can set their own sales prices nowadays. This is not a complex thing, I'm not upset about money on its own, I'm not upset about games becoming cheaper in general as they age/go on sale, I'm upset because Stardock specifically offered me the&nbs

The game is not yet released, so all current sales are also pre-orders. If you argue that Early Access is "release" and so these sales are not pre-orders, then how does EA differ from the Founder's Beta? Either they are both pre-orders or neither are, in either case the advertisment would be misleading. Anyway, I have emailed stardock sales and will not be checking this forum further.
Do all of you have a reading disability? I am not bothered that Steam sales happen - I am bothered Stardock told me the Founder's edition was the last chance to buy a discounted GC pre-order and that turned out not to be the case. But no, continue to ignore that part and be needlessly hostile in your knee-jerk defences.
Take your condescending tone and shove it up your arse. Sure, steam sales happen - but stardock's email didn't say it was the last chance to buy it direct, it said the last chance to buy a discounted pre-order. Not only was that not true, it's now being sold for less than what I paid before the game's even close to finished.
I rather felt it was implied I was emailed that it was the " Last Chance for Discounted Galactic Civilizations III Pre-order" that the game would not be discounted until release - which is why I bought it: I thought I'd be buying it on release anyway so I might get it while it was discounted and maybe poke about in the beta. So I was pretty surprised that it's currently half off on Steam. I feel kinda cheated - while I'm sure GC3 will be a fun game when it's done, there&#
Huh, surprised there was no email to founders about this. Just saw the beta on Steam's frontpage and came here to try and find out how to get it. Thanks!
If you change your spending settings the turns till finished couter won't be updated untill the next turn. So if you have a tech that'll take 6 weeks to finich and then set all your colonies to research it'll still say 6 weeks to go, but next turn you'll see you only have 1 or 2 weeks left on it.
"The game needs gas nebulas, worm holes, white stars, and well anything to obstruct ship movement in a given area to create some sort of logistical problem or natural defensive barriers for the players & the AI to manuver around. " Space is very...spacious, there are no natural defensive barriers for the players & the AI to manuver around.
Starbases are on their own, they can't be grouped with fleets.
The order of release was bonus pak, CE, patch so it's probably best to install in that order. I did, works fine Edit: When I posted this there were no other replies but it took an age to appear here, now I just look redundant
Oh yeah, colony manager screen shoudl show you if a planet has open tiles.
Best you can do is set 'em to guard. "g"'s the shortcut.
Hope I'm not repeating anything but here's my ideas: Starbase summary screen along the lines of the colony summary screen showing name, location, main function and whether they can be upgraded in new weapons or a new module for their primary function (2 seperate items, I'd want to know if the upgrade is for just weapons/defence OR a module relating to inf/econ/ship assist depending on the base) When opening a starbase's details sc
I dunno, if all we can do is watch battles I prefer the simple rock/paper/sissors model that we have now. More detailed combat would make me long for tactical control too much.
