Sorcerer King is easily the best fantasy 4X that Stardock has ever done. It has the potential to become its own subset of 4X and be one of the only representatives of a 4X RPG (a term I'm pushing too much, probably, but still super ideal) that exists. You've done some really great things, Cbray, Scott and company. Because of the quasi-linearity of the end game (currently, there are only two ways to win) and they both involve the Sorcerer King, I'm hoping that with the extr

Cbray mentioned on the Twitch stream that it was likely that 5.1 would go public Tuesday. Then I see that GalCiv's beta 6 is tomorrow, so I wasn't sure if you were dual-posting updates or if SK's was getting postponed (poor Sorcerer King, always playing second fiddle to GC3, though I think I like SK better).

I'm in my second game now with the new 5.1 patch on normal difficulty and I'm just not seeing the Sorcerer King or Doomsday Counter really doing much to make me feel pressured. They attack the shards, but they're never destroyed. I'm still zero threat, despite having 4 towns. The SK hasn't even attempted to bring the minors to his side (as seen by the influence counters). Normal difficulty shouldn't be tough per sé, but it should offer SOME challen

Trust me, Stardock People, I love you and your games. But some of these persistent bugs (like the bug that two enemy units STILL STILLLLLLL occupy the same tiles some times.) that you seem to be unable to address...are killing me. Why do we continue to report these when you ignore this simple stuff? I've seen these complaints since Beta 1.... It leaves me very unwilling to report these.
When your competition is Amplitude studios you've really go to bring your 'A' game. Nice to see Stardock stepping up to the plate. This looks awesome. I love me a polished game.
agreed. Both Stardock and Amplitude are at the top of the genre's game!

I like it too. While I enjoy settings that take themselves seriously, I like these for their change of pace. Though I'm not a big fan of only having choices that make me sound like a douche... still prefer the funny for this game. I'd love to see a very serious fantasy game from you all eventually.
Just a thought. While you have a zero threat rating, non of the SK's forces should attack you anyway.
But I've allied with the Dwarves, started a second city, and have done some stuff worth of increasing the threat and...nothing. Also, now that you mention it, my threat level IS zero.

He shouldn't need the skill tree for extra spells. He should just get an extra spell capability every couple levels. Get rid of clairvoyance for him all together. He should have a skill tree with awesome spells you can get nowhere else. He should have the ability to create rings of fire on the strategy map and should be able to (at reduced damage) hit enemies with spells outside your territory.

I'll throw my hat in here to say that Beta 5, while obviously missing some art items and still a little buggy, is an extremely enjoyable experience. [Kudos] The art is the best I've seen from a Stardock game and the quest backdrops that were added do a lot for the immersion. Well done! [Kudos] The flow of the game is much improved and the pace feels nearly perfect. [Kudos] Combat is the most fun it's ever been in an Elemental game a feels unique and e
