Don't know about the demo, but as to suitability for you, I know I loved both MOO and MOO2, as well as GalCiv, and I think you would like Sins. If you are concerned about the speed, don't be, as Sins generally leaves you with sufficient time to think and react. If fact, if you read the boards much, you will find several RTS players who say the pace of play is too slow, even at the highest speed. The three races are sufficiently different to give you many hours of enjoyment.

In my version of the latest TA beta, the Auto Launch and Auto Player Ship design buttons all read "String Not Found". The buttons seem to work (at least Auto Launch does). Have tried uninstalling an reinstalling, but the same issue arises. Anyone else seen this? Could not find posts in the forums. Running on Vista Business.
Absolutely -- with updates and mods on the horizon, this game for me should have a long life and is a game I will come back to again and again. And that is before any possible expansion pack.
I've found in the beta and the release that the way to overcome the lingering cultural influence is to head out to neighboring planets/asteroids -- there almost always is a media hub (or something similar) out there still generating culture.
Thanks! After playing the TEC and Vasari in the beta, learning the Advent is a whole new ballgame.
Not sure where to post this. In the text for the Advent Rapture Battlecruiser, the upgrade for the Vengeance power says, "Targets friendly capital ships, frigates and structures." But the description of the upgrade says, "Whenever this ship suffers damage, the attacker suffers a multiple of that damage in return." I read this to mean that when the battlercruiser takes damage, it targets the attacking ship, which takes damage in return. If so, how does this target friendly capital ships, etc.
Can't disagree more with Tweedledum -- SD has been superb with customer service/support over the years, including GC, GC2 and all the add-ons and interations. And SD (and now SD and Ironclad) have produced great games that have taken more hours of my life away than I care to admit. :D
Downloaded, unpacked and ready to go -- must play
Mine keeps jumping around 200-300 kb/s.
Jerrbear -- Go to Tools/Edit Stardock.net Account and under Setting hit the Internet button. A screen on the right-hand side will pop up, and the top section lists Available Servers. You can choose US-1 or US-2 in the drop-down menu.
Found it on US-1 after refreshing several times.
Which server -- I can't seem to find it in either?
Was just able to download Beta 4(c). My weekend is shot, but it gives me something to keep my mind of of SoaSE. :CONGRAT:
It's up!!!!!!!!!!! :CONGRAT:
You're killing me, Brad! Showing all that leg with no hope of fulfillment for another 3 weeks. Good thing the GC2:TA beta is out to divert my attention. (And thanks for putting out such great games and dealing with the gaming community like we are interested consumers and partners, and not just wallets.)
Gblemings -- Are you talking about admin rights on the computer? The admin rights we are talking about is running SDC as Administrator (right click on initial start-up icon for SDC). I have Vista Office Permium and that did the trick.
Finally got mine to update, too. Needed to run as Administrator, which did the trick. Funny thing is at my home computer, I had no problem using the "normal" update process through SDC.
So far I have really enjoyed the beta of SoaSE (recognizing it is a beta) and am very hopeful the final game will turn out to be as terrific as GCII and its iterations (including TA, which also is looking great!) :CONGRAT:
Thanks -- tried US2 but the update doesn't even show up on SDC when I go there. Will try on another machine and see what happens.
On further searching I see that CariElf said that there were some problems with the servers this morning, so that may be what is happening to me. I did try dowloading from US-1, per CariElf's suggestion, but no luck.
Anyone else having the update from 0.94 to 0.95b fail when using SDC? I keep getting an "Installation Failed (29)" message.
Multianna -- That's it! Thanks so much.
Antimatter is at 100 percent.
