However, I have absolutely no interest in the new campaign. Call me weird, but I've never gotten off on playing the epitome of evil. There's nothing stopping you from picking the good events during colonisation and turning the Drengin into a load of goody two-shoes... We're talking campaign. Obviously, you can do that

I'm excited to see all of the new features. They'll be worth the price, themselves. Espionage, diplomacy, and custom worlds were all things I was asking for. The improved graphics and the epic generator were unexpected, but very welcome surprises. However, I have absolutely no interest in the new campaign. Call me weird, but I've never gotten off on playing the epitome of evil. I realize that in the campaign, you play as the lesser of evils, but you are still evil. It might have
Tough call! I'd like to see better diplomacy, politics and tactical combat. Well, tactical combat doesn't seem to need any help in getting the #1 spot.
AMD Athlon 2600+ 1G RAM 9800 Pro 128M video There, feel better?
Don't forget engine tech. They will give anythign for engine tech they don't already have.
I believe this is related to the memory issue. I saw this regularly while running 1.1 in a huge or gigantic map. When I read about the memory issue, I switched to medium maps until 1.11 came out, and didn't see it. I installed the 1.11 patch last night and haven't seen it on huge maps anymore (haven't tried a gignatic yet).
Saw the same thing. Warning box came up saying my registration was wrong and that the core game files update had failed. While I went to look for my registration info, I noticed that I was connected and downloading the multimedia files. After everything but the core game files update were downloaded, I selected "Upgrade" for the core files and it worked. After I rebooted my system, I opened

(just look at the UFO:AM/UFO:AS games and how some X-Com fans react - and those don't even claim to be true sequels, just in the same genre) *Raises hand* Guilty as charged. Xentax is probably right about a true sequel never being recieved well beca
As I remember MoM, it was one of the most unbalanced games I've ever played. Set your race up correctly at the start and they might as well declare you victor in round 1. You had to hamstring yourself to make the game interesting. I liked the concept, but the first thing any sequel would need would be to balance the game. I know I'm about to be crucified by the fanbois, but I'd rather see a new version of X-COM done right, than MoM. And Erdrick84, I wish MOOII
I agree with Nulkku. I watch the trades, and spy reports, to see which branches of offense/defense the AI seems to be concentrating in, and tailor my path to best counter theirs. While I proceed down that path, I use tech trading to try to stay not far behind the AI, so I don't have to start from the beginning if I need to switch techs. When you keep blowing fleets of his rock-throwers out of space with one medium ship armed with beams, the AI will eventually adapt. The higher the difficulty
Shack News ( Link ) was where I first heard that GalCivII was in production. I'd heard of GalCivI's success in the aftermath of the MOO3 fiasco, so came to watch this one in earnest. I'd also recommend getting future news releases to WorthPlaying ( Link ) and Game Rankings.com ( Link )
Thanks for making the fix and giving a workaround (have to try it when I get home). You guys are amazing, compared to any other game development house. Two thumbs up!
Haven't seen this one on the Known Bugs list, so am I the only one seeing this?
I use a lot of waypoints, whether for building fleets, staging areas, or upgrading starbases with multiple constructors automatically. I noticed that if I create enough waypoints to cause the waypoint list to spawn a scroll bar, the bar won't move and I can't access the waypoints scrolled off the page. A feature request I'd like to add is that you can manage waypoints (delete them) from a list, rather than have to select them individually
That mission is a pain. There's a discussion at Link . If you can't beat it, there's always the alternative mission. The Torians will thank you for at least trying to beat Siege , so they don't hold it against you.
I have stolen multiple techs from civs that I'm spying on. Granted, my espionage level for those civs was maxxed, and I didn't see stolen tech immediately. It came over time. As for destabilization and the like, I see that some of the top end of the tech tree includes Cultural Insurrection, which allows you to build an Insurrection Coordinator module for your Influence SBs. I haven't gotten that far up the tree, yet, so don't know. Makes sense you could need that, but I'd be surpr
Another possible answer is that you're playing the campaign. Shields and point defense are not available at the start of the campaign, but will be later.
A. Though, admittedly, after the newness of GalCiv II wears off, I'll probably revert to B. They are both excellent games, and it'll depend on what I'm in the mood for. Since I love the ship customization, it'll mostly be Gal Civ II,but there are times...
I had the same issue the first time I launched the game after install. After I exitted the game and restarted it, I haven't seen the issue since. I run a 9800 Pro at 1280x1024x32, but stil use the 5.10 drivers ( I know. I need to upgrade)
