Excellent, good news all around. After the last months of tribulations, I will not be submitting myself to this round of Beta, but I wish the team well and am looking forward to seeing 1.1 when it comes out (hopefully in early January?).
- Temporary cloaking for ships and anticloak technology (tiberian sun anyone?)
Yes, I can't believe I forgot to say "cloaking". Cloaking. Not like there will be an expansion, but hey, talk is cheap.

Good idea for a thread! May I ask: Which areas do you foresee, Boogie, as those in danger of being thrown out with the bathwater? - I like the pleasant feel of the graphics : I particularly like the cloth map and the way the icons on it look like "pieces" of a boardgame. It feels authentic. The maps in general, at all stages of zooming, look, feel, and function well. (However, I'd like to see terrain matter

I'd like to see at least one additional race, preferably the race (or whatever) that caused Vasari's downfall. I would imagine a race of giant jellyfish like Gellarts who feed off antimatter. Something really different. The story could develp so that the TEC or whoever notice a weak point in these creatures' metabolism, allowing them to be damaged in this portion of the galaxy; they then share this knowledge with the Vasari and Advent for the sake of the game's balance. So the three tradition

Playing vs. AIs, in three games running I was surprised to see some AIs become defeated (their portrait in f1 has broken glass in front) even though they still have their home planet. Other AIs manage to move their home planet before I destroy it, but I've seen at least a few AIs which have been eliminated without me ever having entered their HW. Why is this?
CHA should change the cost of units (base cost x CHA x 0.1)
I'd much rather see charisma yield a decent leadership bonus in combat (as its primary function); something along the lines of +1 to hit for every point above 10, and +x to damage for every point above 12, for all troops on the field for which the unit with the highest charisma is the leader, where x is probably a big question of balance.

Seems to be most stable in a windowed mode; but sadly, I cannot find a way to readjust the window (make it larger), and it's just too small to play in windowed mode. Odd!

thanks!
The new economic system got in this past week as well. People generate income (and modders can tweak how much or how little you get).
While I commend all of the changes you are planning to implement, I wonder why so much is left to modders and how so little can be adjusted in the game setup screens. I wish the game setup would get some love: Why not make drop-down choices for so much of the main game variables in some "advanced" game setu

Hey thanks. Still haven't been able to find SEIV, but do have the SEV demo. I am currently sweating my way through the microscopic text. It looks like there is a LOT of attention to detail, and to micromanagement. If it's more micro than Dominions, I might have to pass. What strikes me as particularly bizarre is that during the tutorial, in which, obviously, nothing happens, I never get more than 6 fps!! I cannot imagine the cause for that, my machine runs fairly demanding games

Thanks much. I've found a copy of V for 6 Euros, but have not been able to see a copy of IV in my region anywhere anywhere. (Steam sells V for 20 Euros.)

thank you both so far. The AI on SEV is good now, you say?
My suggestion is pick up a copy of SE IV. It has simpler graphics that SE V but it plays better.
Hmn, I didnt realize that many people preferred SEIV. I do not know if I could even get a copy over here (Germany). In which ways does it play better than V? I had imagined V was better because of all the customization possible .... but if

Hi all. I recently acquired Sins of a Solar Empire, and like it. The only thing is it's an RTS, and primarily designed for MP as I see it. I do like it, but I'm still looking for a nice TBS to play until Elemental becomes fun (I'm guessing some time in Q2 2011, hopefully). I have played the Civilization incarnations up until CivIV BTS -- all good games for sure. But I was never able to complete more than 1 CivIV game, I just hated the endgame. I enjoy Dominions for MP, but I want a nice
The problem with caps comes from fact that they die before you jump them out of gravity well in scenario when they bomb planet and then 30 assailants or lrms jumps in and attacks them straight on. Even if that were the case (but maybe this means you need to figure out how to give

THANK YOU! Will do! (I still do not understand how your post from the weebbly applies here: I am not modifying the same ship 3 times, and the Sins Optimization Mod does not change the music, so why do I have to move it up?)
For capital ships, I'm a big fan of using move-speed to help fix them up. We actually tested that in a mod, and it worked wonders. The carriers (due to being exceptional at kiting) were left at their current move speed, and all other capital ships varieties were made faster so they could more easily maneuver to evade attack. This greatly increased their longevity and by extension usefulness. We took Siege and Colony c

I have probably played about 30 hours with the mod on and have never heard a single track of my mod. Wait, are you saying I need to change the location of the mod ("on top"?) if I also have the Sins Optimization Mod running (the only other mod I have running)? Are you saying the mod is ok, but my placement of it is inhibiting it?

Welcome! You've taken on a hard job. While our tastes in gaming differs slightly, I am sure that you will be an excellent addition to the team.
This should allow for much more diverse and specialized cities rather then just making one of everything, everywhere. Thank you very much. I will zip the mod and send it to you (is that what you mean with upload?) -- thank you! PS. Zipped it -- it's 27MB, my mail program wont let me send it :-( do you know a workaround? The game info is tiny, I had already sent you that, it's the 6 sound files that make the size...

Oddly, this game feels a lot like GalCiv2 to me. Unlike most space-genre games I have liked (such as Sins of Solar E or Star Chamber, amongst others), in which the vast reaches of empty space are imagined by the player but not part of the playing field, GC2 does not have space lanes or jump nodes, choke points, or other strategic trimmings of the map. In other games of space genre, action takes place around objects of interest, and you are not burdened with transversing huge sections of

Not sure if your kind offer to help still stands, but if so, I hope I am not overstaying my welcome by trying to reformulate my questions. Since whatever I did in the GameInfo file didn't seem to work, I tried other things. Over the weekend, I hope I was understanding you correctly, because deleted the GameInfo file in my mod and opened the /Sound folder with the .oggs, and simply renamed *them* to Battle 1, Quiet 1 to Quiet 5, and saved, de-enabled the mod and then re-enabled it just to make

Excellent to hear that human beings with Stardock are still going to be able to allocate some resources to this excellent game, even if Ironclad may not. Great news! When do you think that changes could be implemented -- is 2010 realistic?
