I'm obviously missing something. The mines my enemy leaves around all have the tag "invulnerable", (I think they are "phased out", not sure what that means though). So I thought the deal was that my scouts can see them and my troops can shoot them down / destroy them. But I cannot figure out a way to do the latter. What is one supposed to do? thanks much

Thank you. If I may? 1. Trying my hand at Advent, and have gained access to that lvl 6 ability "Resurrection". Looks nice, but I have no clue as to when/how to use it. How can I target a ship if it is destroyed -- or do I need to just go around targeting all my ships before they are destroyed? I set "autocast: off", like I do on all abilities, but am unsure how this works in general. Thanks for the advice. 2. Still playing SP until I understand this game, and can see that when
What exactly is debris? Is that the cosmetic stuff floating around, or is it ship wreckage? How close does it need to be, how long does the debris float around before dissapearing? thanks
What *IS* a "minidump" crash by the way? What causes it? Can I do something to prevent this in the future?
Sorry, I'm quite a bit of a computer idiot, I am just a windows applications user and know nothing about drivers and all this stuff. I do know that I use Windows 7 64 bit, and have 6gig of RAM, and by reading a bunch of different posts on this forum including the Sins Optimization Mod thread, I think I understand the problem in general. Can any smart computer person here state in computer-idiot terms if this suggestion which the OP wrote about is a good, safe, easy, problem-free thing to do,
Sorry for my incompetence. I was able to search the forums and find how to unhide things. I moved the file diplomacy.settings (I didn't have the other one!) to my desktop, loaded the game, and it worked. (My other video settings, like resolution, were all screwed, but I could re-set those without problem.) you. (I actually read the sticked FAQ and searched the forums before I posted, but I did not find anything like this. Maybe it can be added to the FAQ?)
Sorry, like I said in my original post, I'm using Windows 7, and I am a computer idiot. If I have to move files to a different location, I will need to find them and know exactly where to move them to. Can you please help me? Also, I have restarted the computer and restarted the game a couple of times, and one time I was able to load a saved game and see things as I have usually, but the keyboard wouldn't work; I couldn't pause the game, for instance. Can you tell me where I c
Argh, I started a new game, just to test, and the same thing. I'm stuck in what appears to be cinematic mode. At least that's my guess. I've never used cinematic mode, but I think this is it. When I try toggling cinematic mode, in any loaded game or in any new game, nothing happens (no change if on or off). This happened, apparently, as a result of the "minidump" crash (see above). HELP please, any tips?!? thank you muchly
Hello, I have been playing Sins for about a month and really liking it. I have had a number of minidump crashes, but it hasn't bothered me too much up until now. I play SP, and usually, I just reload, and continue from last point, usually having lost a half hour or so. Last crash however is odd, when I reload, I cannot see jump lanes or any planet information (the displays around planets in "global" mode which show hash marks for ships etc.). So far, I havent been able to play this ga
Sorry, can anyone tell me if the information in this post here ( https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/305565 ), namely the information in this following table, Attacker <td
Hello, I have seen the various excellent spreadsheets, such as SithLord's most recent one ( https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/379562 ) or the older sticked ones ( https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/302320 ), as well as some full-text documents (like Raging Amish's one https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/319926 ),&n
Is there some list/table/easily viewable chart somewhere that lists all of the ships so that one could compare some simple stats? I am basically interested in - cost - hull / shields - base DPS - supply cost I have seen a lot of detailed spreadsheets, including those stickied on these forums, but that's not quite what I mean. Can anyone help?
What is the asteroid turret trick?
OK thanks. I wasn't sure if there was a developer comment somewhere that I had missed. I searched here a bit and haven't seen anything since February 2010, but since I am so new I cannot tell if a developer has commented under a moniker with which I am unfamiliar. It seems odd for me to see a product like this with a relatively new expansion made by such a relatively small company without any recognizable developer interaction -- I would have thought they would somehow profit from dropp
Sorry, I'm still very new here, and I am not clear as to what the state of development is here. IIUC, the last official patch is quite some time ago, and things look they are fairly stable, and if I am not mistaken, the developer is busy elsewhere while the publisher has its hands full with Elemental and other woes. So the main question is: Is there any consensus regarding another patch? Will there be one, and if so, sometime this year? The second main question would be regard
Hey thanks much! One last question: Planet Health vs. Planet Population. Is it the latter I need to reduce to zero so that I can settle a planet? Or do both have to reach zero? Thanks much
Thanks much. Seeing the red for underdevelopment is something I actually saw before, quite helpful. I've stopped building those envoy ships, I just do not know how to use them properly. Does anyone else make them, or is that only for larger games? I suppose they are not meaningful in MP, or is that incorrect?
Wouldn't it be fairly easy to have in Game Setup screen a simple drop-down list: "Pirate Strength": Very Low, Low, Normal (default), High, Very High -- something like that? Would that be terribly hard to do?
Thanks guys. Don't entirely understand diplo yet, but I guess I will at some point. Right now I'll just kind of concentrate on ... killing. I've heard "battle ball" mentioned a couple of times, what iz dat? Hmn, never used qwertasf, didn't know they did anything? Thanks for the tips. So you usually only have 1 or two fleets? I'd kind of like to have 6 or 7 for hit and run, just havent been able to manage the micro so far. I'm a real TBS kind of guy, where I like to have
Thanks so much. Odd that this isn't documented in the wiki or elsewhere. My main problem is that when playing the game, I am under constant attention-drain, because it seems that everything needs my attention at once and I don't have time to look at it all at once. I still haven't seen all aspects of the TEC tech trees (the only race I've played so far, so as to try to at least understand one). I'm not good at RTSs. Usually, during big battles, which I try to manage, I look up at some point a
Hey thanks! Regarding cultural bonuses: I've searched the Wiki (Factions, etc.) and the manual, and I can see that each race gives a bonus for positive culture, but I can't see what it is. I'm guessing it's different for each race. Where can I find out what it is, how much of a bonus it is, and how much culture I need to get what kind of bonus? Thanks tons
cool! Thanks. Camera lock? You mean there is a button that also locks the camera in position? Heh didnt know that either.
Thank you people, priceless. If I kill the carrier or hangar which spawned the strikecraft, will the strikecraft die, or must I eliminate the strikecraft itself?
Sorry, still a total newbie here -- how did you get it that you can see the individual strikecraft even in the distance? I also usually only see a bunch of dots, but even if I were to zoom in real close, I can usually only see *one* strikecraft (moving around real fast), and the others are far away and just iconized. Also, you don't have that little icon of your faction and the color hovering over all your craft, which is usually the only thing I can see on my strikecraft. How did you get tha
Ah, now I see. Thank you. So researching this Broadcast Center tech is then really, really important -- right? Or are there other ways of accruing allegience / fighting enemy culture? I mean, aside from wiping out their homeworld militarily shortly before losing all your planets? Do other AoE effects work like mines -- only damage the enemy (thinking of self-destructing starbases)? Is there a level cap on capital ships? I have never gotten a capital ship above level 6 so
