Excellent, someone's looking to bring the tacticle spreadsheet simulator to Sins. :) Now if you'll excuse me I've got to get my `thron on :)

Whilst it's not in my top 5 PC games of all time, it is very good. My all time greats would be: Unreal (Right when you drop from the Vortex Rikers in to the open area). Neverwinter Nights (It's been installed on pretty much EVERY machine I've owned since release, this one I'm writing on being no exception). CnC: Red Alert. The last of the 'quick' CnC games (I like RA3 but still it's a pale shadow compared to #1). Mechwarrier 3. Never did get m
Whilst it might not be true, I remember reading that if you check your credit score too often it can actually decrease it. As can not applying for credit a certain number of times a year. I don't think any American president is going to change the way things are, as I'm pretty certain that much like here in the UK, the Prime Ministers come and go. The civil service is eternal... and where the power to blatently ignore things resides.
Larger scale than Sins? Even on small maps, the games seem to take all day to finish . . . Hmmm, you know what would be sweet? A space-based MMORPG. You mean like Eve online? I can't speak for RandallFlagg, but I'd want soemthing like Eve online, but with real PvE. I'm considering trying EVE, but from what I've heard it's pretty weak on PvE, and it's practically an anarchy in there. I'm waiting for something like EV
I nominate the Xeelee. Only because the Excession, Bentusi and other ones has been taken.
Random events could be good. I'd like to see one little thing. When playing with an AI who've you've managed to get a peace treaty with... often it's friendly with your arch enemy and won't attack them or actually fire a shot against them when defending. That's a little dumb, you're my best buddie now go kill these guys.
Personally I own the Kane edition of CnC3, Special Edition of RA3, the version of UT2K3 that came with a headset and apparently, as it let me download the extra content, the SE edition of Sins (I didn't realise I'd brought it) amongst many others. I brought them primarily because a) I needed a headset and b) I liked watching the outtakes and making of's. Additional maps, units, skins, textures and such doesn't affect my judgment in which version to buy. In the case of RA3
The life cycle of a modern AAA game? Six months. A year tops. Push it out, patch it, move on. With the exception of something that can be used to bilk the customer for more ££££'s... like The Sims or Spore where you'll be paying for nice new content from here until the universe dies of proton decay. The interesting thing is this, it's really unlikley things like x86 are going anywhere and even if they do their will be emulators app
To be honest it's simple bet hedging. Look at it this way, for years people thought Apple had a copy of OS X running on Intel hardware 'just in case'. Apple denied it like crazy! Well, PPC... old and busted. X86 new hotness, with a development speed which means, yeah, that X86 version of Darwin did exist. So it makes sense that there would be chunks of code floating around an office somewhere for Steam/Source to mate with Linux and OS X. I wouldn't
I agree that the industry could do with some consolidation. I don't want to have to mess with a half dozen Impulse/Steam clients any more than I want to mess with a half dozen instant messenger clients. But I passionately believe we need at least 2 or 3 of them.
2 or 3 I'd agree with, I'd agree more with "never plants themselves in system startup" as a bonus.
I can see where you're comming from frogboy. But my honest opinion is that if Steam were the only game in town, then it would be bad for us gamers, the same goes if impulse were in that self same position. However that being said the current situation is as utterly stupid as a monopoly. Every games publisher is moving in to the 'new' digital download area (I've been here since BBS's downloading stuff isn't new) and pretty much EVERY publisher has their own little 'th
As others have said you can get USB2 video devices. The problem is that they tend to be low power devices that have trouble doing basic video overlay at their maximum resolutions; their are some that are more feature complete. They also don't tend to have any 3D capabilities. So they exist, but are a bit naff when it's all said and done. A few pundits think USB3 might give enough bandwidth to allow for 3D acceleration but who knows.
Hmm... if Entrenchment is delayed I want a pony... or a cookie... ohh hell I'll just settle for playing the beta version. Considering it's a Beta it's actually pretty good, although I'm in the "do something about mines" camp but hey. Seriously though if you've actually paid for Entrenchment then you're playing the beta version, you get to comment and help tweak the final product so it's better and yet you feel jipped by them pushing the release date back? At least this i
"Death & Gravity", "Killing Time", "Grey Area", "Sleeper Service" and yes I have had a fleet led by Grey Area's other name before now. Unfortunatley I think "Anticipation of a new lovers return" is a tad too long :( EDIT: I wonder if "Frank Exchange of Views" will fit....
To be honest I was a little put off by the lack of campaign mode in Sins. Then I decided to do each map in turn. Instant campaign and longer than most single player ones to boot. Then I got bored and just went on random rampages. Excellent. Then I figured that letting devs do a story tends to result in things being a little arse, it's better this way. Really, it is. I do wish people would stop calling things 'Zerg' it's spelt Tyranid people :)
6. Gamers shall have the right to expect that games won’t install hidden drivers or other potentially harmful software without their consent. So it's ok that the game *requires* hidden drivers such as Starforce, as long as the user is presented with an "ok" button first, so they can consent? It doesn't say that the game should work if the user declines. It also doesn't say that the user should be notified of this requirement before buying the product. How exa
Interestingly enough and it has been mentioned in this thread, other than the MyColors thing the rest of the CE stuff doesn't show up in impulse. It's downloading now and I feel like a total gimp considering I brought the game ages ago.
Personally, I am a video game pirate. I use noCD cracks, I install from ISO's, anyway you look at it I am a bad bad person. Of course, lets ignore the fact that all of those ISO's are for games I own. Regardless I'm doing something naughty that some people thing is wrong. Why? Because installing from ISO's is faster (and quieter), the noCD cracks mean I don't need to cart around my game collection with me just because I fancy firing up on the train, plane or friends ho
