I'd like the ability to be more along the lines of: They get one free attack at beginning of battle. This would not negate any other turns of those units. To balance this, for one thing, it would be random opponents. To help further balance, make that attack either at lowered accuracy or damage, or both. Any way you look at it, losing control of possibly your very strong units at any point due to you own abilities is not fun.*<
However, would they be firing at all on the first turn? Archers aren't generally known for high initiative.
That's the thing. Whenever their first turn would come up, it is gone. You have to wait until what would be their second turn to have any control.

A lot of great stuff here! Thanks!
You can't do anything about it, but wait and hope the unit will leave of its own accord. In a dev stream Scott himself said that he hates it when allied units blocks roads and outposts, and are hanging around your cities blocking you. So they are aware of the problem, but when a fix will be forthcoming i have no idea.
I think I may have asked that question during that stream. From what I recall it didn't
Like what I see so far, definitely something to keep an eye on.
Enterprise was a welcome return to some of what you say others lacked while having it's own shortcomings. I'm a huge fan of the original series. I'm afraid this teaser's nothing but fluff. We've not watched anything regularly on CBS in years. I'm keeping my expectations low. LOL
Don't worry, you won't see much of it on CBS anyway. Damn Primal, I let this thread slip for a bit, and look what you've done! Impressive work, hope to give this update a check soon and hope I don't get too upset with the zone borders disappearing before I get some good play time in.
Neither, the War of Magic rages on!
I thought it was in closed alpha? Is it publicly available?
I've had it playable for over a year now. I kickstarted it, but don't remember at which level, and what kind of access I have though. So maybe try through kickstarter still at this point? That does give you the game on Steam, as that is where my install is located/updated, however I don't think that you can buy it through steam.
Sad day, RIP Merle.
Nice - thanks - if i edit it and then load a saved game will it mess things up? Would i need to start a new game for it to work?
To expound upon what Primal stated, you basically have to start a new game if you make any changes to the xml that you want to see in game. When starting a new game, a copy of the xml is included with the save, so any changes made after that will never affect already in progress games.
The way I interpret this fire thing is, normally you would have a positive number in there giving you fire protection (say +X amount from some gear). In this case you have a negative number because you have a fire debuff, hence the discrepancy in terminology.
Think it was about October or so. Could be off on that, just a rough guess.
What a great thread! Pretty sad some of the links are no longer good. I've been listening to a lot of the songs in this thread with my Dad recently, most recently quite a bit of Ten Years After. He still has many of the records he purchased from when they first came out, across a pretty good range of rock, blues, and folk. Still sound incredible for being nearly 40-50 years old, playing on a Technics turntable from ~ 1980.
Can't believe I haven't noticed this thread going on under my nose for this long! Here are a couple picks The first mixes a couple favorites of mine: The second brings back a bittersweet memory of being at the concert the last night of SRV:

Plus that is 2:30 am on the weekend nights! If they are shutting you down earlier than that during the weekend, it is due to local ordinances, not the state. ;) Wisconsin really ought to change the switchover from 2AM to like 4 AM, so that bar owners and police alike

I don't think there is any manual or tutorial. I think all of the editing tools are mostly a "Plop, here it is" unsupported feature. I believe they said it they actually the same tools they use to make the custom maps and scenarios. One thing you can do is go to the stardock youtube page and look through the last bunch Sorcerer King twitch streams. Scott was in midst of using the map tool in a few of the later episodes. I think it's somewhat hit or miss on that

Launch the game, then look immediately in the lower left corner of main title screen. You will see a "workshop" button. Hit that and then you will see a new menu with the map editor. Yeah, way to hard to see easily!
