I agree. Plus lets wait until multiplayer. I don't think the AI in this game is anything close to galciv2 AI yet. As advanced as galciv2's AI is, it still can't compete (in my opinion) to the human brain. In a multiplayer game, I do wonder if waiting until you can amass 20 capitals is really going to win the game when your opponent destroys you with lots of frigates while you are trying to build your capital ships........... We shall see won't we.

no space ship is going to have 1000 feet of armor too expensive and too massive How would we know what is practical and what isn't when we are talking about technology far removed from our own??? Space is a giant vaccume with almost no friction. You could potentially have MASSIVE ships. The only thing you would have to overcome is the inertia of all that mass. When you lift weights on Earth, you have to overcome the inertia of the mass and the force

Basically, I can fire a machinegun at a battleship (or a tank for that matter) all day long and not kill it. The armor is simply too thick for a machinegun bullet to do any damage. I need an anti-tank weapon or a cruise missile to hurt those targets. If battleships in Sins have armor, then there's a bit of specialization there - a swarm of fighters won't be able to hurt battleships because of their armor, but the battleships also won't be hurting the fighters much due

Plus the frigates can act as cannon fodder to protect your pricey capitals, that can last you an entire game as they recharge up their shields between battles.

Until EA buys you out anyway. That would only happen if Stardock "sold out", which I don't see happening. Frogboy, that shouldn't happen. You don't strike me as a typical CEO who is only in it for themselves and for the money. Most CEOs out there, like most politicians, deserve to be executed.

We found a crash that was caused by ships that were out of bounds on the map. I know, I have a perfectly realistic answer. See, that is the risk of using hyperdirve and folding space - you can become trapped outside the normal universe, and effectively mess up and destroy the entire universe! (when the game crashes).

Nope, you guys aren't crazy. I saw what looked like a crappy defender ship (you know one of the early core design ships that has like 1 beam attack and no defense) in the bottom right corner of my galaxy. This was in a metaverse game in a medium galaxy with all abundant settings. It would just sit there. I didn't pay much attention to it.

I was playing a long game yesterday. Awesome game!! I can see where this will be alot of fun. At any rate, will the technology rate be customizable??? In the game I was playing yesterday, I stayed in my solar system and didn't travel to a distant star, but I had practically maxed out the tech tree. I think to make this game truly feel epic, technology needs to be slowed down, or have more techs in the tree to make the game feel epic. I think the best solution would be to have the

Alright, since ToS Iceman doesn't like my grav compensator idea, how about this - the lonely all-male crews of the GalCiv starships are attracted to the women of different planets. This attraction acts like magnetism to move the ships, thus allowing a ship with no engines to move! "How much for the women? Your wife? The little girl? We want to buy them!" - The Blues Brothers That's definetely it.

Man what gives??? I am always hearing about how trading is stupid because people are making like 20K + a turn, etc. What size galaxies are you playing on, jwburks? Anyway, in my own experience playing on medium, abundant maps, I have no problems having factory worlds and research worlds (maybe because I don't research too far up the factory and research building tech tree). Normally only in the beginning stages of the game, do I have production capacity at less than 100% while I wait for my

While we don't have a free alternative to food, there is always free Linux when it comes to OSes; and barring upgrades and/or malice, software is not perishable nor does it get used up like food. Do you think I actually meant for not having food to be exactly like not having the latest operating system in this regard??? I was just using an exaggeration (extreme exaggeration) to show a point. Ok, I will be more specific: we are not forced to

If those 4 planets have the highest tech factories and labs, then yeah, that takes a lot of money. A planet like that might spit out a large hull super star destroyer in 3 turns. I don't care how good your economy is: spitting out a super star destroyer in 3 turns is going to take $$$$$$. Also, researching black hole eruptors and winning the tech victory in 2 turns of research is research that is going to take a crap load of $$$$$. What was the population on your money making world
