Wasn't there some anchient Greek Philosopher who worked on a "proof" for GOD?? Not to say his work was any sort of proof, as I do think a proof of God with our current technology is utterly impossible. Still, does anyone know who I am talking about? I dare say this bloke used math to attempt to prove God???

dystopic, do you believe in some higher power, or are you aethest? I thought you were athesist but reading your last post.... I didn't mean to use such strong words. I realize now that I was sort of a hypocrit when I called out sushistrip, when I was also using fighting words of my own to a lesser degree. It would be nice to know exactly how we come into the lives we are in. The answer to that question would really set alot of things straight. Still, the fact is I was bor

Ok, ok, I understand if you activate the right part of the brain my arm will raise. But when I consciously raise my arm, how do I really generate the intial electric pulse in my brain. Its just funny how moving your limbs works. You "just" do it! So weird.... Whats weirder is I can simply think about raising my arm, and yet not do it of course. Now, where exactly does that inital electric pulse come from when you decide to raise your arm...... When someone else electrically excites that p

if u had friends, ud know wut i was talking about more insults? some friend you must be. when i'm with my friends, i try to show them respect by giving them my undivided attention and not dumbing myself down (and afront to their intelligence). I agree, this is stupid. Petty insults are uncalled for. Dystopic is providing argument just like I am. I respect him (I assume you are a guy?) for providing argument and not just calling me a stup

I love how many of us assume that when we die it is game over. We can't see atoms, but science has recently shown that atoms exist. We can't know what it is like to die until it happens, with our current technology, just like we had no idea atoms existed until the development of certain technologies. Does that mean that nothing happens for us when we die? We don't have a "soul" that exists in some higher dimension? Here is the thing..... somehow, someway, I have gotten into this

For those of you confused by the differences between evolution and intelligent design, this short film should help tremendously. LOL!! While I don't agree, and do support creationism vs. evolution, funny shit!!!

Here is something to think about. If you were to see a car laying in the woods, not a single one of us would say that this car just randomly appeared there. We would obviously say that the car was created by humans. What are the odds that a car could randomly appear in the woods?? Pretty much nil. I mean a car "creating itself" through random, evolutionary processes would be virtually impossible. I don't think it could happen in billions and billions of years. Then you consider that the s

Stanley Tarrant, I think what you are asking for is purpose to everything. Frankly, the answer to that is beyond our concious capacity to understand at this point. I don't even bother to ask such questions. For all we know, the entire purpose of this reality is to make a new kind of cheese for some extra-dimensional being. My point is, we don't know, and are probably incapable of knowing. Though I must admit, 42 isn't bad... No I just want to know why I

which in separate cases resulted in each one of us. No, no, no, this is only an illusion. You only think that it resulted in each one of "us". There is no "each one". I thought we have established that there is no individuality? There is no self awareness! Man, this electrical field, that is if I can even be considered a unique electrical field, is not going to sit by and listen to the pure nonsense from this other electrical field, which I guess i

You need to research a branch or two that other AIS don't. When you trade one tech, make sure you'll trade it to EVERY AI in the game in the same turn, or else they'll do that for their profit. This is exactly why I always turn tech trading off! Remember kids, just say no to tech whoring!!!

dystopic , have you read Bertrand Russell's Why I am not a Christian ? You might find it a good read, I think. Man, now that sounds like a book I can read!

"In simple terms, the electrical activity itself is generating a 'noise' which just happens to think it is self aware." How am I not self aware?? None of this makes any sense. I just "think" I am an individual? I just "think" I am self-aware? When actually I am apparently not an individual at all??? Explain to me how I am not an individual, not self aware, when the actual evidence leads me to the contrary. I am not saying that any of this proves the existence of a higher p

My head is spinning! I don't feel like a single question of mine was answered. Ok, I guess it is possible that I only exist becasue I have an exact electrical field generated in my brain (which for some darn reason, "I" happen to equate to the electrical field generated in a now 26 year old white male body). You guys have to admit that some higher power makes more sense? is more probable? If I am nothing more than the exact electricity produced by a brain in a white male human born on Jan 10

This is the same idea used in many time travel stories. If you go back in time and kill your Grandpa when he's a child, you end up not existing. How would we know this to be true? Perhaps if you travel back in time, extra matter is created (you, your clothing, and whatever else went with the time machine) in that state of the universe at some point in the past where the time machine went to and a parallel universe is in effect, created precisely at th

Who needs fusion on Earth? We have our own fusion reacotor located a nice and conveinant 90 million miles away!! Just put out an a@@# load of giant solar panels in space and you have all the power you ever need for the next 5 billion years or whenever the sun finally blows up and consumes the Earth. Just need a means to get the batteries down to earth in an economic way. Create an electric powered rocket somehow??

whether or not you like the explanation, science has done so How??? I didn't see any explanation in your post as to why exactly I am a 26 year old white male and not some random maggot crawling in the dirt.

I didn't want to take the time to read through 4 pages of text to see if this idea was mentioned at all, so if my idea was mentioned earlier, then I apologize. I will use a relatively simple and logical argument against aeithesim (I don't even know how to spell it!), and in the belief of some higher power (God?). We all somehow were thrust into our lives. For some darn reason, I am Stanley Aaron Tarrant born on January 10, 1981 on an air force base in Turkey. Aeithesists answer thi
