Zydor, I agree with what you said. You are right, with religion, we should be expected to prove God does exist rather than expecting aetheists to prove He doesn't exist. Until then, the stance of everyone should be "He could exist, I just do or do not believe He exists." To say "God DOES NOT exist!" is really an impossible statement and is like believers saying He does exist without adequate proof. We just cannot say for sure if He does or doesn't exist. I beleive He does exist and I try to

Stanley Tarrant: Im sure you were partially joking, but I think the meaning of what themocaw was asking is can a human allow himself to believe there is something beyond what our human limits can figure out. And I say yes. Put another way, if the car you own can only reach a speed limit of 45 mph, are you willing to believe there is a speed in another car that can go beyond 45 mph, or is that all you can accept because you have never experienced it yo

there is no way that the universe could have had a beginning or will have an end. because of the fact that if the universe had an edge then something would have to reside beyond that edge, then you have to ask ,what is beyond that objects edge and so on. Aethesists seem to believe that we only live once right? That we are born seemingly from nothingness, live, then die and go to absolute oblivion. Your argument makes it sound like there HAS to be an a

Is there a god ,? Simply put , NO . god is A humans way of explaining that which he never will understand (i.e) (god created the universe). bullshit I say. Wow, so sure. Lets use your quotes in these contexts: (300 years ago) Are there atoms? Simply put, NO. Atoms are a humans way of explaining that which he will never understand (everyone knows there are only 4 elements - fire, earth, air, and water) bullshit I say." or how about<br

i could show you in the bible where it says God is perfect. So if God is perfect then so is his justice, from that knowledge, how can it be possible for babies not to go to heaven? Oh really? And I suppose you know God? Well, in my mind if God is perfect, he wouldn't send a single soul to hell for all eternity. Not one soul. Having the universe atomized and having every single one of us vanish from all existence for all eternity is preferrable to even

So, if I understand correctly, hell becomes eternal on Judgment Day? Or, once judgment day arrives, if you haven't become one with God then God just wipes your soul from existence? Makes more sense than most Christianity.

Read up on near death expericences before you judge. I have been to Christian churches all my life before I made the decision that eternal damnation can't be real. Explain your idea of "leaving the body to become one with the universe again". Do you believe that we could then reincarnate into a new body from this universal energy? At any rate, there are people who have experienced near death experiences that go far beyond the simplicity you report. Some only report seeing wh

I just wonder how many individuals would chose GOD if there weren't any outside influence . I suggest that the idea of God is an indoctrination forced upon children and the weak minded adults in society. God does not exist, so any other explanation is a fiction. Marcus Marcus, near death experiences suggest that God does indeed exist. To prove that God doesn't exist, you would need to know everything about everything. So, yes

Ok, here is another idea: If God knows that my eternal destiny is eternal damnation (1,000 years ago, God knew then whether I was going to Heaven or Hell, correct?) why would he even create me? I mean if my destiny is eternal Hell, then certainly I wish I had never been born. God is very, very evil just for creating me if I am just going to Hell forever. Its like me pushing a button that sends someone to Hell (perhaps not right away, but eventually). If I could push a button to send you to

And who demands that the wages of sin is death??? God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Right???????????? The wages of my lifetime of sin is apparently eternity of Hell. Ok, lets follow God's example. I am babysitting your children. Your children mouth off to me, and fail to beg fogiveness through my dead great-great grandfather's name. So, I tie them to a chair and proceed to chainsaw off their arms and legs. IMAGINE FOR A SECOND that this ACTUALLY HA

Stanley Tarrant is a perfect example of what I was saying. For instance: I think mankind in general has come further along morally. We used to enslave African Americans. Slavery still exists in the world, you know. The USA and/or Europe does not comprise the whole planet. I guess Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, Mao Tse Tung and their many many followers are a sign of improved global morality? Many people would argue that abortion is murder, yet it

Think how far mankind has come by himself -- morally -- in the past 2,000 or more years -- not one inch. I've never met one human who was even close to perfect, much less God. "The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was making the world believe he does not exist" (The Usual Suspects).I was an angnostic for 25 years then a confirmed atheist for 15 years, and a born-again Christian for 4 years. Believe me, God does exist. Just look around. You think all this (the total

Ants don't have the capacity to be self centered. They don't have the capacity to "have fun". They only have the capacity to search for food for the colony, defend the colony, and do strictly what is coded in their DNA. One section of our brain's visual cortex is larger than several ants. I would have to believe, though, that neurons are roughly the same size. The difference being that an ant maybe has hundreds of thousands of neurons and we have trillions of neurons. To me, this is like a

Here is a good one for you cobraA1. Why does God allow Satin to exist? If Satin is the reason 80% of will end up in Hell for eternity, then why didn't God (all knowing and all powerful) destroy Satin after the Garden of Eden incident? Why did God even create Satin knowing who Satin would become (assumming God knows everything right from the start which I don't think you will argue with me)? Why would God create a person knowing at the precise moment of creation, that person would just end up

If the only reason I exist is because of the unique makeup of my DNA and genetics (in other words my consciouness is strictly tied to my physcial brain and there is no seperate "me" as in a soul or whatever), then how do you explain twins with the same DNA? Ok weak argument, as I suppose even twins have some differences in DNA. But, if I were to make 10 exact clones of myself, they would be 10 different people right? So despite 10 of the same DNA, brain structure, brain electrical field, etc.

It is a scientific fact, that there is an after life. You become dirt. My physical body will become dirt, yes. But my conscious existence? Why isn't it possible that I won't exist in a different form upon death of my physical body?

I mean countless parents have had sex and I didn't result then right? Surely there is a better argument? I'm not certain that I'm not the result of millions of 'random recombinations' of dna. In that sense we are all the children of everyone that ever had sex, including the first enterprising sea-slugs. There's nothing wrong with that, but I might add that if someone were to take the self-centered view, it would be easy to assume(probably a mistake) they

[/quote] I don't think it's amazing at all. You are the result of the DNA and life experiences that you had. Maybe it's because I don't smoke pot, but there is nothing at all deep about this. You are you because if you were someone else, you'd be wondering why you were them and not you. You weren't predestined. If a tree falls over, it's not amazing that it fell in the particular way it did because that's just the way it happened. If I drop a book and it opens up to page 59, there is n

I really really really don't understand why you think it's so amazing you're you and not me. You don't think it is amazing how for some darn reason when the molecules, carbohydrates, lipids, DNA, protein formed my now 26 year old body, as it has formed in billions and billions of other bodies, that this body was to house my consciousness? I mean why exactly am I me and not you??? Your parents had sex, you were the
