All of a sudden my Cursor FX doesn't work. I double click on the cursor fx control panel icon and the program takes a while to open. Then, unlike before, when I try to scroll down to pick a new cursor, the program says not responding and the window goes blank. I have to hit ctrl alt del to end the program. So, basically I can't use this program at all. Seems like these bugs should have been fixed before release.

Well, I've had the program for over 2 weeks and it still takes a LONG time to load. Much longer than CXP which was pretty quick.
Not all my cursor xp themes work in cursor fx. I think I should uninstall fx and go back to xp. There are many more xp themes than fx.
That bootskin was a bad one. I've deleted it and used others and no problems. In fact, the logons work now too and I don't have that "non-functional desktop" problem i mentioned above. I'm knocking on wood as I type this.
I have used boss's suggestion re: the FFOOFF and it always works. Now if I can only get logonstudio to work at all (see my post in the bootskin forum re: "boot problems").
One Care does scans all the time. I'll check when the last one was though. Thanks for your help.
Philly: No changes and no new programs. I'm using XP. My anti-virus and spyware are through Windows OneCare and are always working in the background. I will try to use a different bootskin to see if the particular one I chose was the cause.
I have used both bootskin and logonxp for over a year. Recently, I had some minor problems when rebooting but nothing major. Then, yesterday, when starting my computer, it wouldn't even get past the point of Vaio screen to the actual boot screen. I would manually shut off the computer and get to the choices of safe or normal modes. If I tried normal, same result, "Vaio" and stops. So, I finally went into Safe mode and opened the program, and returned to the default, boring boot. Then, it w
Kilo: I guess the confusion arises because you think I have a purchased copy of Desktopx. I don't. I simply have the free version which allows me to use/load the widgets. So, the continue splash screen pops up so that I can continue using the free w/o paying.
Thanks for the responses. As has happened before, the problem fixed itself. I've seen this happen many times with XP and never cease to be amazed. Kilo: How do I know if Desktopx is running all the time? I do know it starts up automatically when my computer starts, but I always click on the continue button and minimize omni weather. When I check task manager with ctrl-alt-del I don't see Desktopx running, just the two omni programs.
For a long time I've used both Omni Time and Omni Weather widgets. Suddenly, yesterday, omni time won't load when I start up and I get a Desktopx screen with a message that I had to close Desktopx. I deleted the omnitime.exe from the widgets folder and downloaded it again from Wincustomize. But after placing it in the widgets folder, no luck. Still won't load. Any ideas?
I re-installed via the other link in my e-mail and now I can access WB6. However, now the bigger problem is that none of my skins are accessible via the WB6. These skins are in the old folder but WB6 won't list them. If I have to re-dl all those skins and re-install them, then this new WB6 totally sucks! I want my old WB5 back and I want stardock to work out the bugs completely before releasing any new piece of crap program that totally screws up things like this. I've never had this many p
I downloaded WB6 via stardock central and when I tried to open the program, it gave me an activation screen. When I input the serial number that stardock supplied, it said I had an invalid product. I tried contacting stardock and they are closed. Anyone here have a solution because this absolutely sucks and is a real turn off.
Bichur: You're probably right. I converted it from an exe to a logonxp. I can't find it now but the author's name was muzzy. I might have gotten it at ThemeXP but can't find it now. Other exe logons I've converted are no problem editing but I'm not sure why some are. And, I really don't understand what is meant by "division by zero." I know what it means in Math but not in this context.
With some logons, I can't edit them and get the error message "runtime error 11; division by zero" I check the Theme.ini but can't see anything wrong (i.e. no foreign languages used for fontweight or the like). Anyone know the answer to this one?
Thanks a bunch Cavan! You've always been very helpful and generous with sharing your knowledge. After trying several different values and previewing after each change, I got it to fit within the bar. In the meantime, I've converted other bootscreens and will play with those to make them fit. I'm first gona check the ini file which comes with the converted screen.
Recently, I converted a bootscreen (one that uses ntoskernel) to a bootskin. It worked fine except for one thing, the progress bar. I have tried many different numerical entries in all the dimensional parameters, but can't get the progress "bubble" to stay within the confines of the bar. Here is the .ini file: [BootSkin] Type=16 Name = "BARBED WIRE" Author = "DSLV" Description = "On Any Given Day" ProgressBar=Bitmap_4.bmp ProgressBarX = 220 ProgressBarY =
I definitely do not plan to "upgrade" to Vista. Backward compatibility is important. I'm perfectly happy with XP.
Cavan and boss have helped me a great deal. I've learned how to change the fonts and their colors and the messages. For example, instead of the same old boring welcome, I can change it to "Wassup?" or anything else. Boss helped me to change the splash logons to show the messages by changing the uifile height and width settings near the bottom (msgarea) of the file. the defaults are way to small to show any messages.
I have the latest releases of both WB and FX and I also have the same problems as the others. The only difference is that I didn't know the source of the problem before reading this thread. Until SD fixes this issue I will have to unload FX before shutting down. But, this won't solve the problem of explorer crashing while the computer is still on and FX is enabled. As Peter Green would say, "Oh Well."
I had the same problem with several programs, including X3. I simply excluded it from skinning in that section of WB and X3 works fine now (as do Wavelab and the others).
I've been using WP for years. As far as I'm concerned it is far superior to Office. The new X3 is terrific. Even allows opening pdf docs and editing them.
Thanks for the explanations, guys. I really appreciate all your contributions, whether splash or non.
boss: You've said several times that you don't use LS much. Do you mean you don't create any logons anymore? Or, do you mean, you simply use the default logon that comes with Windows? Or what else?
Amaranth, Between boss and Cavan's advice and a little experimenting of my own, I've been able to change the fonts, colors of fonts, the user name font, and the welcome shadow color. I can include phrases like "Is there anybody in there?" in lieu of "welcome." If you send me an e-mail, I can reply with a copy of one of my edited uifiles for a particular logon. You can compare that to that logon's standard uifile. I think there are about 10 areas where editing needs to be done. A si
