Go up a couple of levels, and you'll find AIs with different weapon types, not all the same one, giving you a more difficult choice of weapon/defence mix. On Crippling I am finding three types out there, 2 or 3 AIs with (say) missiles, 5 or 6 with (say) Drivers, and (usually) the Drengin or Yor using a third (say) Beam weapons. That mix can produce a problem at times re weapon/defence balance of a completely different kind than if they all had the same weapon/shield type.<

That can happen if there are auto upgrades. It looks as though it makes its mind up about the queue, before it gets to the part of the Inter-Turn software routine where it checks for upgrades that are now valid as a result of the last Turn. Regards Zy

That may well be the case, if so that would be a good thing. The main aspect of agreement on the principle of IP etc, and then (only then) moving onto enforcement, is that the thought process would be focused on one aim: "How do we make this work in an imperfect world, that as far as is humanly practical, is in line with our Core principles of Law". That's a whole new discussion that produces different - unified - motivations, discussions and outcomes. That may well result i
So yeah please make copyright infringement a crime equal to theft.
Well said, ten out of ten. If we get "general" agreement, then we could start an enforcement thread, as we would then know what we are discussing/enforcing. At that point I'm out the door faster than ferret down a rabbit hole :) because thats going to be a cracker involving an army of Lawyers, and Constitutional experts to an extent my frail body would wither and die under the sheer weig

Create Post - Look top right of page, in blue "create post" Espionage - click the domestic button bottom of screen, click espionage tab, set spend level. Each turn spend will accumulate until an agent can be bought. Each subsequent agent is more expensive than the last. Place agent on target Planet. The more you place/have in place over time, the higher the Intelligence gathering level you get. Agents can be zapped by the AI using theirs to get yours. Always keep a few in reserve

Chat away - no worries, I'm well into that - you'll not get anything significant out of me on the legals though, I have no real depth of knowledge of the US system, only the outlines, and dont pretend otherwise.
If we are going to pretend IP is the same as tangible property and treat its 'theft' as the same well I want my day in court with my lawyer vs a govn't paid prosecutor
Back to Basics It'll be a short day. At the start of the game you need to get an economy planet asap, take a PQ 11 or above, to help the early game economy problem. Then follow up with the others. Also bare in mind that early game its handy to have two or three generalist planets early on before total specialisation. That helps you get going on all fronts. Specialise as soon as you can as that maximises "bang for your buck". The simplest way to get going on this is to "specialise" ie dedicate a Planet to either Produc

Be wary of a knee jerk "Corporate Interest". In UK 95% of personal employment is outside the Corporate sector in small and medium sized companies. I dont know the US figures, but even given the common practice over there of Incorporation even by small one man bands, I'll bet its over 80% of employment is outside the classic big Corporate sector. There is also very large differences in the principles behind copywrite US & UK which does not help the issue in this Age of Globalisation.<b
I mean why does and why should copyright last the creators lifetime plus 70 years!
To provide for relatives and family. To go second generation after death would be stretching the point a little too much, but life + 70yrs is fair enough. The majority like to provide for their immediate family. To take to extremes to illustrate, why should the world benefit from a freebie, and their family live on the breadline. Regards Zy

That is a very clever video - it kinda sailed a little close to the wire towards the end, no doubt what he intended. Original and funny, yet at the same time actually puts across the basics of the law on it - albeit its clear he dont like it  Great Stuff .... Regards Zy

The trend towards Health & Safety is overall a good thing. As always with good things, they can go off the rails at times. In UK its getting to the stage where you have to wonder about individual sanity, or if they are just having a laugh. I'm curious to see if this trend has gone overboard in other Countries by way of posting the gaffs you have come across. A few to kick off the principle, - Seen on packets of peanuts (etc) "Allergy Warning: Product may cont

Interesting, could be option based. I play immense, all abundant, crippling, random minors, eight opponents, standard CPU, Federalists. I've found this even with the other GalCiv versions on Gigantic. I'll start a new game and get a screen shot. Regards Zy

Not tried it, might work. Unrelated (as such) observation. The flat-lining occurs with the Manufacturing and Research graphs, and to a lesser extent but still there with the production graph. The economy graph is usually - as such - unchanged, although that's not always been the case. Its possible the AI is "turning off" the lot to focus on pure cash generation, which would tie in with a bust economy that needs to recover. Regards Zy
