I agree - and it can be very frustrating. There is no facility to originate a generic pm, you have to locate a person where they have posted first. The latter is not always feasible (may not have posted for a while) or its fiddly to find a post due to the search problems. The problem could be resolved by allowing the sender to insert any name in a pm "to" box, but at present you cant it will only display a read only version of a posters name. Its a matter of style and preference - personally I always go for the sandbox mode first as a way of learning the game as is. Which ever way you go for it - learn the economy first and foremost, its the most critical part of the game (and frankly my reason for learning sandbox first).
