Vote with your wallets, people.
Totally agree - its utterly stupid. There's no way they will stop it being cracked, and every way they will Hiss Off prospective customers. There are uncrackable ways to protect software, but they are not available to the general public and are insanely expensive, far too much for a mere game. The only way this pointless, useless and utterly irritating DRM saga will ever cease is not to buy DRM products. That will, finally, penetrate to
Blizzard games are the savior of pc gaming
If they are, I would hate to come across the nightmare of PC gaming. I personally wouldnt trust them as far as I could throw them. I have never bought, and never will, any game title they come up with. They are a money making machine, pure and simple, with no real feelings for the gamer beyond the quarterly revenue reviews. No one produces this stuff for free, no problem with that, I just have a real problem with the va
Its an Alpha patch, not for general release as it does not contain everything that will be in the final release, and has yet to be fully tested. It was only put up as part of the final testing process for the full release. They'll yell from the rooftops when the full one is ready, as well as it showing up in Stardock Central. Regards Zy
Guys, I gotta say this at the risk of getting zapped here, so please take it in the manner its intended ...... step back and look at these things ROFL!!! If someone had offered you a book of them a year ago they would have been laughed out of court as the rambling offshoots of a lunatic! I tell you, the power of on-line gaming to start bandwagons never ceases to amaze me. Hey, have fun, go for it etc ...... but really, oh man ... I'm just lost for words frankly .... I do
I had no idea Impulse had such conceptual depth and breadth, this is a marvelous example of "set the dream" "set the vision" and the rest will follow given determination and expertise, as all will have a clear strategic goal to achieve. Great Stuff, when that hits the marketplace it really will revolutionalise the digital marketplace. The potential and utility for this, for the developer and end user alike, are mind blowing. Doesnt seem that way on the surface, some may even bluster
For me its very simple, both the person who cracks software, and the Marketing Director who puts gizmos on my disk, they are both driven by self interest. A different kind of self interest for sure, but thats what it boils down to - and both know it. I am just as entitled to keep my privacy, as they expect me to respect others privacy including their own. So get out of my disk, and expect me to get annoyed if they dont. Cracking software is illegal, abhorrent and shows a total
it seems like the free Creature Creator actually brings SecuROM with it. Thank you, EA.
Why am I not surprised, and annoyed, and yet another reason I avoid this DRM nonsense, restricting myself to non DRM games - and yes I am consistent. The same goes for any other vendor that trys to slip things onto my PC using the freebie method - or any other tactic - that I am not aware of. I take my insignificant miniscule product fee elsewhere. I would get real Hissed Off
Impulse doesn't use the user selected installation path...
If that ends up in final release, thats a potential show stopper - its almost a given these days that programmes should be capable of storing, at the very least, the top level directory of the programme in the user selected areas of the disk if preferred. The last thing I need when I switch off work, and settle down for a game of ... (anything) ... is to end up in the middle of some egofest where the mechanics of the game are almost incidental. I face enough of that silly nonsense at work, where people are more concerned about their reputation, than doing what they are paid to do. Its why I have never got into multiplayer games of whatever nature. Some people get so wrapped up in the whole "power" thing, they lose touch with reality,
Democracy is about individual freedoms, Autocracy is about the demands of an individual(s) , is the way I have heard it best expressed - and therein lurks the problem. If the individual(s) who is(are) making the decisions is(are) a nutter(s), or some kind of megalomaniac, its a long term nightmare that takes explosive violent change to repeal, the latter being the ultimate end in all Autocracies throughout history. An Autocracy can force change relatively quickly when done at a macro level - t
I tried downloading the files to a another folder and copy/pasting them, per your suggestion, but that did not work either.
Forgive if a statement of the obvious, its easily forgotten. When extracting from the zip file did you point it at the main TOA directory and check mark the boxes "overwrite existing files", and "Use folder names", not check marking the former will result in old files not being updated, the latter will result in all the files in the zip being dumped
*goes back to retail therapy ... with the blinkers off*
Meet you at the checkout  Your right, life's too short to worry about that when people are already working their butts off to fix it for me. Regards Zy
Woa, just seen your post BoogieBac got wrapped up typing/posting my last - many thanks, giving it a go right now :CONGRAT: Regards Zy
In the end, and here's a lesson about life for you, negativity ultimately promotes change. Optimism will never change anything.
Negativity encourages backward thinking, its easy to be wise after an event, quite apart from the fact that negative people are incapable of thinking ahead and producing visionary ideas, and its the latter where successful people make it. There is not one negatively minded individual I have heard of at the top of their profession or ch
Its real strange, never seen that before - the Stardock guys are frequently on the forum, no doubt they will comment shortly. Meanwhile, if you have support issues (as opposed to notifying bugs) send them to - any sent to gc2bugs go automatically into a bug-tracker application which is a different process, hence no reply. The support guys are good, and really do look after us well, but you do need to use the support addy else they will not even see it. Wh
This way, you can play a game that's not that hard, and allows for lots of leeway to learn, but it'll still be against opponents who are SMART, instead of braindead ones that just sit on their homeworld with their thumbs up their butts. ^_^ Much more fun that way, and a better learning experience, too, I think.
Thats an excellent idea :CONGRAT: I wish I had twigged that one when I started a few years ago - nice one, logged that firmly in my "useful ideas" note
Whats this ref "H:\Projects\Twilight\LibKumquat\Source\editfields.cpp" that file path name appears non standard, as well as being on a different drive from the main system files, and different from the Drive used for save files. - vThe main game appears to be on C Drive as standard - Its saving to D Drive "D:\Dokumentumok\kornel\MyGames\GC2TwilightArnor\QuickSave.tmp" - Falling over on H Drive at ""H:\Projects\Twilight\LibKumquat\Source\editfields.cpp" " Nothing wro
Rack up the game difficulty level a few notches - the first few levels (up to and including - say - 'Normal') are only there to get you going. Life gets seriously active at the higher levels. The game is all about the Economy, you MUST get into that, learn how it works. When you do, the game flys and is great fun, until then it does drag a little as you end up firefighting. Its worth doing several sessions of the first 18 game months only, ditching them at that point and restarting, to get
I've used Diskeeper for years, its outstanding, never had a single issue with it. It will even sort out Network Servers etc etc - superb piece of software. One example of many: I run Climate Models in the background on my PC from www.climateprediction.net ((good thing to get into for anyone in that kind of thing - see the Site). The models back off processor use when other things are going on, so you end up utilising otherwise unused capacity. The models use hundreds of small file
You cant - there is no multiplayer option in GalCiv - and at present its highly likely it will stay that way. If you are a multiplayer fan and want background on that go to the GalCiv part of the forum and you'll find a Sticky Thread "The Case for No Multiplayer", its not far off 500 posts long..... There is a system called the "Metaverse" where you submit games into a "quasi-league" structure. Recently that evolved into another, additional, system, look out for posts re "Metaverse Lea
If you have not seen it already, take a look at this thread, it goes through an overview of the start game for new users. [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/314318/page/1/#1761653"]New User Game[/link] As always there are a zillion and one strategies people will propose, in the end you will evolve your own. Its a good thing to take the time to read throught the "Strategies" part of the Forum once you are orientated after a CalkWalk game, it saves much grief - and saves you putting y
There was such a major yelling match over it from their fanbase they announced a couple of weeks ago they were not implementing a "full version" - ie they backed off. Regards Zy
They've already been shown to be wrong in their estimations at every level, but there are countless self destructive practices and philosophies on this planet that have irrefutable proof of their folly and still have substantial support.
Thats driven by logic based on desires for badly conceptualised Bonus schemes that distort reality. The Corporate World is littered with such off the rail thinking, where personal enhancement is the driver, not Product / Company success.
The races really do feel really different now, which provides enormous replayability. It's not just a slap of paint on each time I play a different race
I agree - its the one aspect of TA that many have commented on as being "different" after seeing the description, but its not until you actually play a couple of games as non Terran in TA that you really do get the full impact. Whether or not you agree with the impact is of course a personal preference. I found it refre
