They hit the nail on the head then  Regards Zy

- HP or Compaq but only as OEM assemblies, and of those only AMD ones. - Restricted to new PC buys - MS has since released a patch Odds of success plumett to 99.99% across the user base - its a bummer if you were one of them though  OP should relax, it applied to new purchases of those PCs only, not across the board hassles, even then only if a new buy right off the bat at the time of upgrade to SP3. A far cry from "affecting all AMD PCs" that rumour control had people b
I'm pretty sure this is a TA-only thing, as I've never noticed it before when I start having getting of money.
Its a 20% penalty, so it is in effect linear, you an hold more than 20K bc, you'll just be penalised on a percentage basis. Its enough to curb hording without being draconian. Its always been part of GalCiv from the GetGo. As I understand it, and quiz Support over connected issues, it was put in to curb the worst excesses of instant buying of mass fleet
I have an AMD FX60 running XP Pro, installed SP3 as soon as it came out - no dramas, not even a hint of one. It'll be the usual story, someone somewhere yelled about an install issue they had, and self interested parties got the rumour going - the usual irresponsible claptrap. Even if 1000 PCs had issues with it, and I have heard of not a single one (not even "rumours"), with the zillions out there, the odds of successful install are going to be are going to be in the order of 99.9999
Just Right Click anywhere on the Dock, uncheck "run at startup" Regards Zy
Also looks good this end, you may have found "the one" Regards Zy
I meant something like 'drug counsiling' by that post. I'm addicted to this game, dammit!!! I dont even want a manual or tech tree any more...just....more.....play. I need help.
ROFL - Love it  *Twitch*
Hey I now know by your post that they considered things like the topic of this thread
I do honestly believe the Devs really do consider this a "labour of love", and they get a real kick out of doing this. Then you go out of here
or at least how efficient they appear to us
Astute comment, they are probably rolling on the floor laughing hysterically at the plaudit - I have no doubt with the volume they shove out it actually appears mayhem at their end, its the way of life  Regards Zy
Is there any kind of 12 step program for this game?
Frankly - no. Its a kind of voyage of discovery (by design) A small incident to illustrate. After you get the terraforming techs, the tiles become available. One user asked "can you change it so that after the last terraforming tech we can click on a planet, see what we are going to get and plan?" The reply I thought was a clever one, and encapsulates their whole approach to the game. "We deb
In the old days, I could download GalCiv2 patches by typing in my serial number on glaciv2.com. What's wrong with that? Sure, Impulse can do more. Sure, if I could run it, I would probably use it. But why the need to discard the more versatile update options?
There are few things more versatile than double clicking an icon, and it now happens that way, which is why platforms like Impulse work, all the mechanics of a process are done for you in the background. You log in
I've given an economic and research treaties, my diplomatic techs, and even some money. Does it just take a long time or am I doing something wrong here?
An alarm bell just went off in my mind. I have not got into the mechanics and do's and dont's of the research/economic treaties, it would be good if someone who has used them (extensively) could comment on them. I have heard there is as always two sides to using them, particularly on timing and understanding exactly wh
Thank you for a reply that wasn't just a "your an idiot" response. I've never played any GalCiv games until like 3 week ago.
Considering the neurotic minefields that are the average Forum on the Web, I hear where you are coming from, and its therefore understandable many take a defensive stance when coming on this forum for the first time(s). The forum is firmly "anti-moron", and those that try that die a horrible "Cyber-Death" - particularly if they just flamed a
How far into the game were you when they zapped you? Regards Zy
I reckon thats a good one - the game balancing issues would not be trivial, so I doubt it would come any time soon ...... but, yup, gets my vote! Regards Zy
At this point I would suggest going up the difficulty level a bit further than you would as such, and discover the game level where you are zapped and cremated on a regular basis, then back off one, probably two levels
Subtle difference a full quote can make - mind you at 95% Tax I'm surprised they didnt put you on the stretching rack  But then I am a civilised Terran *snif* Anyway at the mention of the words "slave pit" I always get a vision of
sorry guys, im so stupid
No your not - there's no such thing as a stupid question if you dont know the answer. I'll stop learning the day they put my carcass into the incinerator .... There is such a thing as an easy Quiz question, we all have tons of those, but only because we already know the answer  Regards Zy
I'm ready to start increasing the size of the galaxy and computer difficulty.
Rock On :CONGRAT: At this point I would suggest going up the difficulty level a bit further than you would as such, and discover the game level where you are zapped and cremated on a regular basis, then back off one, probably two levels - that will give you room to breath in this learning phase, but enough scope to do things as you drink in stuff at an ever increasing rate. Medium
So for that world have the cap 10 onstead of 16. What taxpayer wants to pay tax to live in a desert. The temperate planet has 10 usuable tiles but would have a pop cap of 16. Hey, it’s a nice place to live.
The asthetic logic is fine, wouldnt argue with that. The practical game mechanics to implement it are another thing. Its a balanced game, whenever a "widget" is added into the overall Pot, the game has to be rebalanced to take into account its effects, its not just a
Don't rush the nice programmers at Stardock, we'll get the game when it's ready
Absolutely - Traditionally the Object Desktop series for Windows is their mainstream, along with other Windows goodies for MS, games had been the second string to their bow. The fact that - IIRC - they only have 9? on the dev team, its a stunning achievement that they shove out what they do .... mind blowing frankly. Regards Zy
I really want to start some uprisings
It can be done, but its a tough one with just influence starbases. The tipping point to flip a planet to you is the surrounding influence needs to be 4 times that of the planet being flipped. You can look for that by clicking on the target planet and looking at the stats for it (some don't show until you have the minimum espionage level). Once the magic figure of 4 is exceeded, its then a case of waiting for it to flip.
It wasn't until Civilization IV that the series had viable multiplayer because that game was designed with it in mind from the ground up.
Absolutely - they went through a living Hell providing it on first release, causing a near Rebellion in the Fan Base. They had issues in the practical areas of the needs of team/game coordinators, hand off's to AI when a player dumped out, and a Huge Network layer/IP/multi firewall issue they had underestimated as it was their first mu
Oh good, I can buy it now.
Screenshot that and send it to EA - you never know they might suffer an attack of common sense, we can only hope  Regards Zy
Its the 0% Tax Rate that draws my attention. At 0% Tax and three Entertainment buildings, they should be so outrageously happy that transformation into the next higher plain of existence should be imminent, not dropping morale by 2% a turn. Mind you there's Billionaires on this Planet who are still unhappy with their lot in life  Regards Zy
Can I tax the bread and water?
You Left Wing softie you..... Mind you the current Government in UK may just try that - they've taxed just about everything else, so much for their Socialist root's ... ;p I have a wishful fantasy that one day Stardock will licence the Dread Lords out as Mercenaries, I'd hire them to sort out those money grabbing clowns  Regards Zy
Sheer guess - without seeing the planet screen its difficult to understand where you are. That sounds like an overpopulated planet with circa 22/24Billion+ people on it if 3 entertainment centres have not stopped the Rot. Really the practical "safe" max is around 16-18Billion, after that your population start moaning its too crowded - consider the hassles with 7Billion on this Planet - they probably have a point  My guess without knowing more, and considering your previous posts
