Have a look in : C:\Documents and Settings\*your account name*\My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor (or GalCiv2 or GC2DarkAvatar - depending which version you are playing) you will see a file called debug.err, post that. Inside there is info that gives the clue as to whats going on in many situations - not all. Make sure you post it in its state immediately after the "crash" - dont restart a game, the file is reset every time time you start a game. Once people

Whatever floats your boat. Personally I could care less that a game runs by pigeon post. I'll leave it to the developer to decide what they want. If they produce a game which means switching platforms - that has not happened yet - I'll switch, no bother. The circular Windows V Linux argument is as about as productive as Windows V Mac - even the latter died down greatly after Apple ditched motorola and went Intel. Its not a question of using "the best" or its "leading edge" or "diff

Dont hesitate, get them. Stardock, whilst like any company need to make a profit, will only release a game/expansion if they believe its of real value. They put their money where their mouth is, and proved that in the past. Therefore if you like "an original", its almost certain you will like their expansion. They will also give give real value in expansions, its not just a case of leveraging existing code to provide more characters yaddie yadda, and in effect you end up paying for a

I believe most of us have been there with Stardock, I have been many years ago, no one is a paragon of vertue. Certainly watching the mega-yelling posts that turn up from time to time, nearly all quickly subside into a different perspective. I believe this is at the Core of why Sta
How hard will it be for me to be Party Chairman now that two Americans are supporting me?
*Psst* - *looks around furtively* - I'm English. You know, those guys who let loose a boat load of people 250 years ago to start a new "Colony". We then promptly let go of what turned into, what is arguably, the most powerful Nation seen in the last two Millenium , but I guess we all have our bad days ;)
I think this is very similar to America right? Dont bother using logic to explain this, a total waste of time, this was not put together with normal logic at its core. Waste of time pointing out where and why its silly - its irrelevant to the motivations that put it together, so logic will run off the Bill proposers like water off a Duck's back. Its all about Votes as usual, Politicians pandying to Voter ignorance with the next ballot box in mind. Surprise Surprise ...
.... and establishing a governor-appointed boa

Lets face it, most companies your lucky to even get an auto-responder, let alone one that strings together any useful sentences, let alone one that makes sense. Stardocks? - Auto-respond, yup, but sensible, and they mean it - Automatically gets Tracked - Human Being then answers, usually within hours ..... - Not only that, but answers with .... wait for it .... a Solution :SURPRISED: There is a god ... Just because a software programme has not been written to counter something, does not qualify that something as a "Strategy". There is a difference between a game mechanic and a strategy. The most common orange in the US is the Valencia orange. As Valencias oranges ripen on the tree they will first turn a yellow-orange color and then regain a green tinge near the stem end of the fruit, resulting from chlorophyll returning to the peel. This "regreening" of the orange is not a sign of immaturity or considered a blemish on the skin. Florida and Texas growers will sometimes use a dye to enhance the appearance of their fruit in the marketplace. All fruit treated with dye wi

Been thinking re the whole perception "thing" and the knock on effects it has re "East V West". I come across the basic principle behind the issue of Perception many many times in my work as a Business Coach (thats helping business owners to understand the real fundamental concepts of business, and how they can apply that to their own business to make more money and get more free time in their personal lives). As you can probably imagine, push backs on Business Coaching are common a
The game doesn't arbitrarily (and severely) limit how many ships you can have or the planets you can own, credits should be no different.
Unlimited accumulation of credits moves away from the whole basis of a Strategy game, by passing the checks and balances built into the whole business of building an Empire, into what I call "WalMart Shopping". Mass purchase of anything and everything, to me, seems pointless, its hardly strategy. However there are many many views on t

This one is all about how the basic economy works for the game - it is critical to wrap the head around this else the fist goes through the screen  Zillions of threads on it, one to start you off, it in itself has another ongoing link. It really is worth grabbing a pot of black coffee, settle down for an hour's reading on this one, plenty of related threads. There's no real short cut to it, take time to read and learn it, learning the economy and how it works is that

Zillions of threads on this one. The economy is critical to get right with this game, fail to understand it, and you put your fist through the screen, hating the game for life ..... take time to understand it, really understand it, GalCiv flys and its great fun. Always worth searching the forum for eco threads, a pot of black coffee, and a spare hour reading through them saves huge grief. View a Tile as a piece of Real Estate in real life - as long as you own the land, you can do more or less what you want with it. If the land is "vacant", you can build what you like subject to the local planning Rules. If there is a house there and you want a block of flats, the house is "demolished" and replaced, subject to the local planning rules. In GalCiv, the same applies, subject to "the rules of the game".
All other beans must also be put in the cup. Why highlight the thing about blue beans at all?
The reason goes back to the basic situation, there was extreme prejudice against the Jews due to the (grossly unfair) perception that "all Jews are money grabbing people who dont care". Easy to see how that started when most peoples contact (as such) was when they were in debt, so they lashed out at the Jews. The Magna Carta tried to bring balance back into the equation by expl

Opps - thats my terminology - my Bad  SDC / Stardock Central are one and the same ..... If you are already in SDC and registered - its real easy now .... They just released Impulse which is replacing SDC in the long term. Download Impulse (use the download impulse link in post 2), install it.
