CivV's early gameplay (like, immediately after the release) wasn't optimal.
Not optimal ..... rofl .... freeking nightmare!! I canned it after Pack1, and I had been an avid Civ fan from Civ2 inclusive onwards. .... but .... Brads comment acknowledging earlier hassles, but ending " Civ V today is pretty fun I think ", has already convinced me to give it another go with all the lat
Civ V today is pretty fun I think.
Coming from you that's illuminating .... I just might try it again with all the updated packs. I got Civ 5 and Pack 1 - but I did a runner at that point, it was driving me crazy and I had been a "Civ Guy" from and including Civ 2. Having got that far with Civ5 (Pack1 incl), I feel deflated after the huge success of Civ3 & Civ4 - especially the latter, I still play Civ 4 (gre

Well ...... if the reality lives up to the Theoretical Outline .... this will be an Industry Game Changer on the same scale of change as when the world moved from 32bit to 64 bit. Its not just an enhancement, its a Big Generational Level Change. Lets hope all the current Partners retain enthusiasm, turn theory into practice, and marketing preamble into reality. Nice one [e digicons][/e]

Stargates would result is serious Game imbalances, and are just an attempt to get round the movement restrictions Brad imposed on ships towards the end of the GalCiv II series. It will result enhanced BattleGiants collected behind a couple of Stargates ready to transposrt instantly across the Game Universe - a cheap way of defence or attack, and very unbalancing for the Game. Stargates will never happen in GalCiv - ever.

And I don't think that's a good thing.
There's an element of doubt in many minds when they slug it out manually one on one in Games - a loss many times still results in the infamous cry "the AI cheats" - no matter whether its automated or manual. Fact remains GalCiv is a Stra

Turn the monitor back to0 its haedware defaults, usually small buttons on the bottom or the side will access its internal menus - just hit defaults all round. If still like it ... Zap the driver, and purge any directory related to the screen, reload the driver. If you are still getting the green tinges, my guess would be the screen is on its way out - get it tested in a local hardware shop.

Its likely this cannot be developed in one go, but could be spread over Expansion Packs enhancing as time goes on. The start point is the establishment of Supply Routes, Convoys and their protection. This fills a major gap in Galciv, the concept of Logistics - what to do in a Game Play sense with the "Rear Areas" and Combat Resupply. At present, essentially, rear areas are left alone - for sure a couple of events - but in the scheme of things, near zero happens - that would not happ
I never understood why ground invasion was so much of an afterthought, considering how much detail and strategic scope went into the space combat.
Its a Strategic Game where Fleets tussle for control of Whole Systems, its not a ground level Grunt fights Grunt game.... do the latter on largest size map for every Planet you take, and it will take a Huge amount of time to complete the game. aacckk .... the idea behind Jagged Knife was fine - I get it in a way. The problem was its implementation. The final straw for me was when several hundred - I kid you not - several hundred orange blobs hit the screen all over the freeking place. It was like a measles rash just came out of hyper space. That was it - I canned the game and started another, I couldn't be Ar$%d picking my way through several hundred orange blobs one by one

I can find simplified games or shoot-em-up's without much effort - there are lots of them out there. GalCiv is a TBS, its designed to be a thinking game, with battles along the way. It should stay that way - simplified shoot-em-up's are not hard to find, and I for one can live without them. If anything GalCiv has much scope for more "stuff" (define "stuff" according to personal preference) as PCs become more powerful, and the latest jump to 64 bit. In that re
