He's talking about SotS 2, not FE. No, SotS 2 isn't playable. It's still a mess, with terrible AI, an engine with poor performance (especially when considering what is displayed Oo. The graphics are cute but far from SOTA), it's terribly unbalanced, the interface is clunky, and in general some aspects of the core design are quite questionnable (combat isn't as tactical as in SotS 1, missio

How is it in its current state? I was interested in it until the disaster of a launch sacred me away.
Lower your expectations dude. It will keep you from being disappointed. P.S. You still playing TOR?
Well I am already liking the FE experience. Beta 3 looks to improve upon it significantly. I am just looking to dive back into the beta test mode since 0.86's issues are well known by now. As for TOR, I played it a lot in at release and into Ja
Someone turn on the bat light or maybe the frog light. I need to know whether Beta 3 is "likely" or " it's going to be tight" or maybe "we need another week". I just want to know whether I can look forward to diving into Beta 3 or just continue on with TOR, ME3, or AOEO.
Very nice. Really like that intro.
@feelotraveler Moreover, this beta group is the same beta group from WOM. WOM in 3/20/10 was still early cloth map at this stage and came out 5 months later. I can tell you right now, FE won't ship before September at best. There's still that much more to put in.
This is quite encouraging. Given that I really enjoy the game at its current state...with 6 months of additional develop
Sometimes I feel that I dont want a patch, cause I enjoy the game right now Its the levelling of my Sovereign and troops in general. It scratches my itch in the same way as Kings Bounty (which I highly recommend everyone to try).
I agree. The game is quite engrossing in its current state. In my opinion all it really needs is some AI work and bug tweaks.
For sure, sandbox is why i bought this game (WoM), but a good campaigne could help people to understand/dive into the lore. I really like good campaigns with a good story.
Agreed. If there is one thing about Sins of a Solar Empire that I really wanted, it was some lore to draw me into the world. A campaign is a perfect way to achieve this...of course it needs to be done correctly and not be a mess like WoM
Anyone else looking forward to the Fallen Enchantress Campaign? I know that the sandbox mode is the bread and butter of any strategy title, but I am really looking forward to seeing what Mr. Jon Shafer has been concocting for the campaign component of FE. Would it be too much to ask to get a portion of say ACT I in a future Beta release? [e digicons]:-"[/e]
i went from 0.77 to 0.85 to 0.86. maybe I need to reinstall...?
My current sovereign selection screen: What I am told my sovereign selection screen is supposed to look like: IS this just my machine doing this or are others having the same
That sure is interesting. In at 0.86 right now and my current sovereign selection screen is considerably different than what is shown in Brad's post. I will have to take a screen shot tonight and post it.
At some point are you going to put Line of Sight rules into the tactical battles? I would love to be able to use terrain to hide wounded units from archers.
Line of sight is something a lot of us would like to see added to FE Tactical Battles. From what I recall reading here a while back, the Elemental Engine doesn't support it, and doing so would be a relatively major rewrite of the engine.
I've been out of the loop so this has probably been answered at some point in the past. Are dynasties going to make a comeback/be put in at some point for fallen enchantress? I thought it was a really neat feature
I think Brad has stated that they will attempt to put dynasties back into a future Elemental game (assuming FE is successful). It won't be seen in FE.
That screen you show where you are selecting your sovereign, is that currently in Beta 2 (0.86)? My selection screen looks much different. I really like the look of the one you show.
Anyone else think that the speed that the units move in tactical battles is a bit too fast? I see that there is an option to speed up the movements, but nothing to slow it down from the default speed.
Quoting Trojasmic, reply 67I would like EFE to be the best of Civ IV, King's Bounty, Master of Magic, Heroes of Might and Magic, Tropico, and World of Warcraft. Is that a good suggestion? I'd prefer the best of Civ IV(FFH2), Medieval2: Total War, and Warhammer40k
might as well add a little X-COM to the mix too... [e digicons][/e]
I want to start by stating that I am not expecting much from the current iteration of the FE AI, as we know the AI is only partially implemented at this point in the Beta (0.77). It is relatively early in the game. I have my capital city at about level 4 (no other cities yet). I decide I need to take a City from, my too close for comfort neighbor, Yithril. So I gather a decent army consisting of my soveriegn (level 4), two defenders, and two featherwyn archers. I march my army
Elemental: War of Magic is a decent game with some solid ideas that just didn't come together. I just never got that "I need to play" feeling. I personally would wait for Fallen Enchantress as it is already a significantly better experience despite only being in the early beta stage.
Immediately following the death of both my Champion and Sovereign and the display message of the resulting injury to the champion I received the message that the program has quit running. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/59194037/FallenEnchantress0_76-2012-01-27T00-05-35-503.zip

I have watched your LPs and enjoyed them. Anxiously waiting for my access to the BETA to come this week.
So I asked Brad to postpone the public beta (sorry) and he agreed. We need time with the features set to play and tweak, to go through our games so that when you have a chance to play we are ready for the feedback you offer. I am all for taking as long as you need, but at the same time, just for my own sanity, I would
I haven't played it, but I have been hearing that it is a beautiful game and just a lot of fun to play. The one knock I heard was the story isn't really all that prioritized in the game.
