I think the point of the poll was that there are other things people would prefer over multiplayer. Yes, that doesn't mean they are all against multiplayer, but it does mean that Stardock would be better off spending their time and affort elsewhere. Take the forthcoming expansion pack for example, how many of those new features would be missing if they included multiplayer in the pack instead? I'd have no problem if they added multiplayer later, but right now, there is al

Woohoo! Thank god there is no multiplayer, or half of those features wouldn't be in the pack! Hurrah for SP!
This would be useful to know. I'd like to delete all the core designs, except for the original colony ship and survey ship that you begin the game with.
Hahaha, the original poster is fucking hilarious! The way he gets so emotional about the issue, lol! I have an image in my mind of him crying into his pillow about the nasty things we all said about tactical battles.
Will Space Empires V have fantastic single-player features? The reason I ask is because many games bolt on 'rushed' single player features to a game designed for multiplayer. If it's not going to be a good SP gaming experience, then I can do without it.
There's an old tabletop game called Star Fleet Battles. If you had a black hole on the board, and you were within X tiles of it, at the end of the turn you were pulled 1 tile towards it. Ships that reach the black hole tile are lost. I can see it working the same way here.
I've spent some time reading the North Korean news website, and I think that Kim Jong Il really is crazy enough to launch it. I don't think it will end well for him if he does, so hopefully (or not) he has some advisors who can talk him out of it. His news website constantly refers to US imperialists, his 'immortal works', and reports when his works are published in various backwater countries. He claims that a double rainbow and a bright star marked his birth. While I wo
Oh dear, if that's the problem, then I apologize. Ah no, don't worry about. I was just saying, and that may not have been the reason anyway. Hum, I think the problem has gone now anyway. QUESTION @ FROGBOY: Can you invade a planet that doesn't match your habitat type? PS In GC3, can we have some better cut-scenes? The
Marioflag. 1: Spaces between sentences, argh. I don't know why, but some of us are having problems with line breaks. For some reason, no matter how carefully you arrange a post, they all disappear once you submit it. =/
PS. My most wanted feature right now, is the ability to prevent ship designs from carrying over from one game to the next. It would be best if the custom ships folder contained sub-folders for each saved game, and the user could drag ship designs into the main folder to allow them to carry over as normal. That way you can save your favourite ship designs, but all the intermediate "quick" designs that you make will be cleared out.
This looks to be awesome. Well done Stardock. It sounds pretty much perfect.
I'm sorry to see you don't love the game enough to not want to play Gal_Civ_2 with family and friends. Hopefully one of your next projects you'll love enough to want to play with family and friends. I'm not saying every game should have multiplayer, but if you really love a successful game then there would be a growing desire to play the game with friends and family. <
I get really P'd off at reviewers who knock off marks for no-MP. That's only their personal preference. Hey guys, get over yourselves. Plenty of us prefer that kind of thing. Game reviewers aren't representative of the community as a whole anymore, just their own little gangs. I also didn't like the way he slagged off the tutorials. I thought they were excellent. I hate interactive tutorials, and performing a series of simple repetitive tasks when the computer asks me to. e.g. "At the bo
Bored at work? lol
You can't. If someone buys it off you they will need their own brand new CD key. They can get one from Stardock at a discount, but it will still work out better for them to get a new copy.
PS. I didn't know Politics meant Domestic Politics only. I would have voted for Diplomacy instead.
If your gathering a poll which does not include all potential customers the poll is not accurate. Which is exactly why the poll shouldn't be on other websites. There are many SP gamers who do not spend a lot of time online. There are lots of people who don't have internet access at all. Any online poll outside of this site would unfairly
I posted this a few days ago, but in the wrong section. I think this might be the better place to repost it. The new drop down icons for diplomatic events are great, but there is a slight problem. If you click on them to bring up the diplomacy screen, you can contact races that you haven't met yet (at least, I know you can do it with minor races). It happened to me when the Dark Yor declared war on someone.
I got a drop down icon telling me the Dark Yor had attacked someone or other. When I clicked on it it opened the chat window with the Dark Yor. However, I hadn't actually met them yet. =P
Have you turned off the stars and nebulae? That makes a little difference...
Its under the Disable Tech Trading and other options when you start a new game.
nevermind, the download page just changed. 1.2 here i come!!!!
I agree. Stardock have a good formula with the current system. Most improvements in GC3 should probably concentrate on areas that GC2 is lacking.
What if Carriers could be put in fleets with transports to provide air support for planetary invasions, rather than use them in space for combat, which would be pointless using the current system. Carriers could even have the ability to attack a planet on their own once per turn, reducing the population by 5% each attack. (i.e. 10000-->9500-->9025-->8574 and so on.)
