Yes, this is quite annoying. Especially as you can only have one game on the go at a time (it goes screwy if you delete ship designs and then reload an old game). I really want Stardock to fix it so ship designs are saved in sub-folders of saved games (menu option maybe?). That way, if you want to, you don't have to keep cleaning out the shipyard manually. Another useful feature would be to turn off core designs so that you can start with a blank slate every game. (Obviously, e

Right. Thanks guys. That's a big annoying, because now I've got Kim Jong Il chatting to me about business opportunities. So much for "self reliance".

So, if you copy the conversations file to your mod folder (to change the things the leaders say), which sub folder does it go in. Putting it in the root folder of the mod doesn't seem to work, and it will use the defaults anyway.

I've not noticed that, but I have been able to contact races I haven't met yet using the same method. Are you using the Dreadlords in sandbox mode or just running the campaign?

Awesome Mod!!! Haha. I've just been making a similar mod myself, although using images of the the puppets from Team America. I've only added Kim Jong Il and the DPRK so far, because I've hit a brick wall over the dialogue. I copied the GC2Conversations file to my mod folder and edited it, but it still shows the default race text. I don't want Kim sounding like the Korx! He should always open by saying Herro!

Finally, I despise people who say "If you don't like multiplayer it's just because you have no friends!" I hear 'ya. I prefer to socialise offline , and usually play video games when I want some alone time (although I dabble in a few FPS games, and play Laser Squad Nemesis by e-mail). Sometimes I wonder if any of these trolls even know wh

I'd be most interested in a 4X fantasy game! Imagine making up mythical creatures using a "monster designer" and bolting on snake heads, scorpion tales, lions manes, wings etc. If you decide to do an RPG, please make it a bit free-roaming, and open ended. I'm bored to death of linear hack n'slash "RPG's". Also, for the love of god, please not another fantasy RPG!!! That's been done to death, seriously. What about a sci-fi or even horror RPG? An open-ended world that you ca

Hold the mouse over the planets to find out their class number. Anything above a 0 can be colonized, though you want to go for the best ones first before you start colonizing anything at 7 or less. If the planet has a race symbol in the lower left corner, it is already inhabited and can't be colonized.

I was just about to pre-order it, but I was a bit confused by the next page, because it wanted me to register. If I have to register a different account in order to buy it, how does it get 'linked' with this account, so my serial number works properly?

Polls can be illusive, Obviously people who play this game play single player because people who want to play with people are not playing so you are not asking a cross section of gamers so you its obvious what result your going to get. Its like me going to a vegan meeting and asking if you would like to stop people killing animals.

[quote]I would like the Ai to be more unpredictable. In some/most games the AI expects completely crazy and unpredictable, even if you ally with them, a few turns later they can declare war for god knows what reason. A lot of people don't like this, but let's face it, we human players act like this too a lot, we make an ally but have no qualms about turning on them when it suits us, even if our relationship is good. In comparison The AI in Galciv2 is so friendly and loyal

I believe the point of the original post is that the AI will not improve and Brad isn't doing his job etc. (plus yet another "OMFG this game has no multiplayer, it's the suXXorz!!!111" rant). Of course the AI needs work, and it is being worked on. Oh, and most of us here would prefer more SP features to MP. So what? Get over it.

87 Replies 87,370 Views

I laughed hard when I saw all the fan boys posting their anti multiplayer diatribes Im sorry but the AI has limitations - in fact calling it AI is even wrong - lets call it PR (programmed response) cause its clearly not intellegence - right Once you figure out the formula for defeating the AI (and there will be plenty of gamers who love this challenge

Rendorax... I was all set to read your post with an open mind, and perhaps take in some of the things you said. I thought that maybe I would agree with some of them, but then I read this... Argh! MP! You know why this game doesn't have MP? It's because none of you people have the self-confidence or ability to play against another human being <br

I quite enjoy the rock-paper-scissors approach to combat, and changing that too much (adding new weapons etc.) might break it. However, more support modules might be nice. A Carrier Module could allow tiny/small sized ships in the fleet to move at the same speed as the carrier ship. A Terraforming Module could allow colony ships to auto-upgrade some planet tiles when the planet is colonized. A Cloaking Module could prevent a ship from being seen on the map, unle

I get problems when I zoom in on the minimap. Some of the influence colours vanish, making it look like there's empty space there when there isn't. It only really effects large/huge maps, where zooming is more necessary.

Given the amount of signals we are broadcasting into space, since the 1940's, which will continue through space for ever. It's rather telling that so far we have picked up zero signals in space from any other source. This points to the fact that intelligent life is very, very, very rare. So those original signals are only now 60-70 light years

OT] Well I guess I've been playing for a year now? I play pretty frequently but I'm really quite awful at the game, still fun though ; ) My LSN name is Slay btw. I think I've seen you around a bit. I'm currently going under "Corpse".

I'm wondering how invasion and 'flipping' will be handled in the expansion. I'm assuming that you can't invade worlds if you don't have the technology to make it habitable. I'd like to see races sharing systems if the worlds are out of each other's habitable zones, but I don't see that happening. Surely a planet that flips will retain its population, even if it switches sides. Then what? Would building a colony ship there allow you to use those colonists to inhabit simila

Once I designed a colony ship, and realised later I'd actually given them construction modules instead of colony modules. Because I right click the blue square I didn't notice that there were no people on board.

To get an accurate sample on who really wants multiplayer, Stardock would have to have a poll at GameSpot or some other big gaming website. To get the fairest poll, it would need to be conducted offline. PS(OT): Pasteurized, I play LSN too (on and off). Currently on a free trial to get back into it. Have you been playing long?

I got rid of my copy a long time ago, but from what I remember it was the fact that you couldn't do much in the way of micromanagement. Now, don't get me wrong, I hate games with too much micromanagement, but I like to decide a few things for myself. In MOO3, you set the goals for your empire (technology, planetary development) by assigning priorities, and then you hit end turn over and over again and see what you end up with. To a lot of people it just wasn't a very enjoyable experie

I think the point is to show how good you are compared to others. If you took a total, then the person who plays more games would win. However, if you take an average, the person who gets consistently higher scores would come out on top. Relax, I think the team know what they're doing. It's not perfect, but pretty close.
