{laugh} No demand? My entire group of friends would buy GalCiv2 in a second if it had multiplayer. But alas, no multiplayer means I'm stuck playing it by myself. Lack of multiplayer is the only serious flaw in GalCiv2 that I've found so far. {laugh} Yeah, somehow every pro-multiplayer person knows a crowd of people who would ru

Anyway, back on topic, I think the system is a good one. When it works it works well, and when it doesn't its only mildly annoying. I get much more frustrated having to search for CD's, and with some games (like Starcraft for example) my CD's end up scratched to death. I only hope I don't forget my username like I've done on other forums. Not many sites have good username recovery.
You know how some of those website make you look at an ad for 10 seconds before you get to their forums? We should have a message that says "No, there is no multiplayer" or "Use the Search Function".
Um, no. There isn't enough demand for multiplayer, so they put there time and effort into better features.
Wait!! ... you mean her surname isn't really Elf? XD Guys, what are we gonna do about those tattoos?
Awesome. So, anyone who wants to see CariElf "in the flesh" can go to Dragon*Con!
I usually use = instead. =P
Spot on Cikomyr.
I would play World of Starcraft, definitely!
The MP-fanboys flame first, calling us half-gamers and saying single player gamers have no friends and crap like that. Please forgive us if we're a little tired of it. Geez...
Is the new espionage stuff going to be optional (i.e. as an option on start up)? I've always hated espionage in games. Too much to keep track of. Too fiddly. Not fun.
Despite all the other sexy features, the race logo's on ships look the most awesome. I just hope they don't have the problem that most pieces of jewellery have - that they only fit certain hulls. I don't like pieces sticking off my ships awkwardly, like the fat "wings" that touch in one place, but have a massive section hanging off into space.
It's from a Monty Pyhton sketch. There are people in ordinary situations, and all of a sudden the Spanish Inquisition bursts in. One of the lines is "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!". It's funnier to watch it.
That's a really weak argument. It's like saying I don't like asteroids, and I refuse to buy the expansion pack because I would be funding the asteroid belt feature. Not really. Frogboy said MP would take up more than half of the expansion pack (about 3/5ths I believe), which is a lot different from not liking one small feature.
Aah!! Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.
I think the expansion pack that includes it also needs a few other features in order to satisfy the single-player-only crowd. Nooooo!!!!!!! (Dives in front of Frogboy's keyboard, saving the world from a combo expansion pack, yet at the horrible cost of a severe rib poking.) Seriously though, I'm not sure how you can say the SP crowd wou
Hmm. Am I the only one who gets offended when I'm told I'm only half a gamer? Gee, I guess I can't be a real gamer because I don't like multiplayer. WTF? I get so tired of this bullcrap. The fact is, not all games need multiplayer, and there is a significant portion of the market that does not want to play pisspoor SP games because all the money went on the MP. I want a decent SP experience, and I'm tired of funding the hobby of people who have to play online because they can't make friends in t
Won't anybody please think of the horses!?
I don't think it does. If you highlight a ship in range of a military starbase you can see the increased attack and defence values. If you do the same to a starbase there is no increase at all.
lol @ this thread.. MP should be in a MP-only expansion. That way the MP fans can put their money where their mouth is and buy it, but I suspect they won't. They like it hidden amongst SP features, so SP fans help to fund it and they don't have to spend so much on something which is their personal preference.
I think if there is multiplayer, it should be an MP-only expansion, so the MP fans can buy it, but SP fans don't have to.
During my last game, I had some enemy forces chasing around my undefended flagship. We both had the same movement points, so I had to be very careful. I managed to stay out of their way long enough to reach an influence starbase I had in their territory. The starbase had the first battle upgrade and a devastator beam for defence. I parked the flagship under it so that it wouldn't be destroyed. And then I saw something crazy... The pursuing ships tried to attack and died on the
Ok, I've tried that. I'll have to wait and see if that works.
Many people that didn't buy the game chose not to buy it because of the lack of multiplayer (I know several people who fit this description). There are many people that don't buy games because they concentrate on multiplayer, and don't deliver a good SP experience (I know several people who fit this description). <img src="http://imag
I really want to preorder Dark Avatar, but on the shop page I see no way of entering my ID. Using my forum ID and serial number I can download copies of the game from here. Som if I can download a copy of DA at any time, surely it must be linked to my account here? I don't want to have to keep track of multiple links. It would be better if they were all in one place.
