Carrier modules should have been in the game in the first place, it was a mistake to overlook it Nah, there's no point to adding them. They wouldn't add any significant benefits. It's just a lot of hassle (particularly with regards to the AI) just for 'flavour'. I think they would be good for GC3, when there are tactical battles. If larg

Nah, it's based on a short story I wrote about my college lecturer years ago. He was a demon with penis-tentacles and the entrance to his realm was a giant arse. That's why in the comp thread I called it Bob. It's an old idea though, they did it in Shadow Raiders and the old Transformers movie too.

How long do you think it would take to play a game if you had say, 5 human players and 5 computer players on a gigantic map with everything on abundant and techs set to very slow? I'd say a couple of weeks max before everyone starts pulling out and it dies.

1) There aren't tactical battles in GC2, but they are planning to put them in GC3. The tactical battles in MOO2 were fun, but it was kind of easy to beat the AI if you knew what you were doing. I think by GC2 the AI will be good enough to learn some new tricks. If you watch the ship battles you do get to see some numbers, but its not hard to work out what's a good combination anyway. (The ship battle screen is being improved for the expansion). 2) Espionage in the main game is mostly j

I agree that it might fit in well with tactical combat in GC3, but not in GC2. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Why confuse the AI with a feature that doesn't really add much to the present system? For GC3 though, it could be fun, like carriers (also not a good idea for GC2). Larger ships with large turning times assisted by smaller ships that are more maneouverable, make for more interesting fleets. The more manouverable your ships, the more you can concentrate your firepower into one

Yeah, the lopsided components and hardpoints are annoying. There are a few problems with the ones in the original game too. The ones that stick in my mind are on one of the tiny hulls, and one of the collector's edition pylons. If you extend your hull with the pylon and put objects on either side, they'll be opposite each other, but not 'flat' against the horizon.

I signed this thread because of all the carrier thread spamming (one thread would be ok, but jeez), but I don't hate them. I do care if they are implemented properly though, and I'm not convinced this is possible. Currently, I haven't seen a good reason for including them, except for 'flavour'. Aircraft carriers on Earth carry aircraft to give them air support, and spread a country's air power across stretches of water. It adds a new dimension to combat that would otherwise lea

Draginol/Frogboy, I think you should start looking at the pirates if you want to see how strong the Dreadlords should be. The pirates are scary, without being broken. If you adjust their strength a little to allow for production of new forces, then you won't be far off getting in right (IMO - I am a mediocre player though). PS: Will mega events optional?

Wow, it looks like the Drath are going to take a hit. I thought they would be ok, as they are THE espionage race (who else are you going to use to show off those new features?) I was hoping those ugly Korx would go, and then possibly the Thalans. They're just so ugly I hate seeing them on my screen. Sorry devs, but its true. Oh, and Terrans in the neutral category... muahahaha... the slide into the abyss begins! I've seen concept art for the Korath, and

I've pre-ordered, but I would have loved an offline copy as well. Part of being a gamer is having a shiny box and manual to look at. I didn't know this option would be available when I pre-ordered. How would I get a CD now? Also, do you ship to the UK? How much does it cost?

Lets take a look at what real life carriers do: - Allows the Navy to use air support at sea - Allows a country to project its air power across stretches of water In space, we're talking about spacecraft carrying spacecraft, which is kind of pointless. In real life a carrier gives a sea-based force an additional method of attack and support. In Battlestar Galactica, the Vipers are more manoeuverable than the Battlestar, but in GalCiv2 there is no limit to the moveme
