True but again it all depends on the plan at hand. The details of which we are simply are not privy to at the moment. A controlled short term group to lay the foundation under a NDA then a general pubic one after the fact followed by a third high quality selected third one under a NDA again prior to release would seem a good course of action in my opinion.
Anyway, I would like to see a focused itemised testing list, an organised bug list and general system issues one as well time requirement expectations for the alpha. I would also like to see the selected people broken down into specific teams with weekly objectives. This is so so SD can get the maximum development benefit from the course of action at hand for the commuity. I recall we once had a similar discussion
No

Sadly I dont have the time I need to make the post I want to respond to questions and provide some more feedback to the current discussion so this will be a quick post.... For what it is worth this thread has started to make the gaming news cycle - pretty cool methinks. Additionally, several of the past posts were in bad form in my opinion, with a strong orientation towards flaming. Lets try to keep the thread on topic and leave that shit at the door please.

@Climber - Outstanding post. I'm glad someone has the time to really spell things out. I was going to post links to different global models for people to study but I think maybe they would be to dry for most people. I firmly stand behind the demand side system. Anyway karma given. Normally I would vehemently disagree with this concept but given this is a fantasy game, I can accept such a thing if implemented reasonably well. Allowing such an action via a magical incantation would be an acceptable method. Allowing for it to scale upward is a very practical way of doing so as well. I have also considered such a system and frankly I would want three more limitation put on it. Firstly that it should not be able to be cast for top level or elite magic items. Secondly only o

In Elemental, no matter what system is implemented and what degree of automation/AI control is put in, rest assured that if the player overrides it, the AI will NOT re-prioritize it's own agenda the next turn. In MOO3, the main problem players had with the 'AI' was that player-set commands were often overruled y the computers logic, which we will NEVE
After sleeping on it, it seems to me like most people actually prefer Camp #1 over Camp #3. Most people who have voted for #3 have qualified their vote with "as long as I can override the automatic distribution when I need to." But really that's the only difference between Camp #1 and Camp #3 (besides non-specific equipment and auto-upgrading). Camp #3 is Camp #1, just with a competent automation system! @Denryu - your system is what a "pull system" would entail at a fundemental level. [e digicons]:fuzzy:[/e] Moreover with city and outpost zones of influence/control and transportation systems and upgrades coupled with national reserves and local storage capacity the tactical and strategic elements of the game are enhanced with a minimum of micro action.

@Tridus - I agree. I also had the same issue with it as well from time to time but that was part of the charm for me but this game is not a nuts-and-bolts business sim so it should be changed accordingly. In short, the learning curve was step but as I suggested earlier (and you also touched on in your post) going to pull econ functionality would alleviate all the inherent raw material network and processing issues and allow the player to focus on finished goods distro as Climber noticed

Wow had about dozen people PM for it. Sorry guys I only had one to give away. I hope you all can all get one. More importantly I hope the people getting the codes really use them. On a side note, this thread should be more organised. With a list of offers on one side and who got the code to on the other and the people still in need below them.
