I'll have a go at it first. You know you've played too much GalCiv when... while you are driving you think to yourself that you should have researched Sensors IV to see the traffic ahead instead of that Warp drive which you now can't use...

Well, there's always the chance that the flagship just found a wormhole anomaly and ended up getting close to you and it was just on its way back to the range border they had. It happened to me lots of times, when my flagship ended up right on the other side of the galaxy due to a wormhole. (Kind of reminds me Voyager, lol!) EDIT: Opps, I was beaten to it.

The %s actualy turn into raw numbers. Dont kid your self influence starbases dont prevent defection, they onyl create it. Make them close to enemy bases, youll see the planets Influnce then parathesis and a number (IE 9.86 ip( 3.86)) if that number in the parenthisis goes over 4.00 it will start to revolt. The %s on the influence starbase add directily to this. 60% = .6. T

''Tomorrow I'm off to Texas for 9 days. Then I come back and I'm off to Redmond Washington for meetings with some software company there for a week.'' Didn't say it was Microsoft, but I sure hope it isn't! They could swallow him up!

Lol, I like the part with the Squirrels, hhehe. But more to the point those little sniper ships that appeared (called Vengeance) are harmless really, they only have to mass driver attack, and you could have 'pulverised' them quite easily, I think.

If you have an overwhelming military or superior technology you don't even have to be close provided you have similar alignments, I tried that as well!

Yes, exactly, influence starbases do have an influence emanating from them, and you enhance it by upgrading them. Just think of it as having souvenir shops selling you culture!

Well, I usually position them between my opponent's planets, the more it covers the better. Then having researched the influence tech tree I send as many constructors as needed to build the Cultural Conquest module, and then all I have to do is wait a few turns and their planets are mine! If their homeworld is near a second one might be necessary. And it also depends on the enemy. If their influence power is not much then they are very easy to get. But if they've got some influence tech as well,

Not both sides need to have the technology, only you. And I think it doesn't even have to be close. This used to be the case in 1.0x but with 1.1 I find that even if we are friendly and above I can form an alliance, provided we are both on similar alignments (good, evil, etc.)

No, the income would stay the same as the OP said. If the freighter went say two times faster then it would do the trade route twice and hence the amount of money would be the same as the one going slowly and doing the trade route once. I hope I am making sense?

I find that the Drengin are always the first race to go. Well, they usually start near me anyway.... The Korx and the Torians seem to be quite aggresive. And the Arceans usually jump on the bandwagon once they see that my military rating is down the sink...

Suddenly someone pressed the STOP button and the daleks fled to their universe to find out who did that, while bruce willis blinking at the cigarettes caused their mutual annihilation and the Snathi appeared and started to chew at the fabric of the universe.
