I have found that the more I play the more I use the tac zoom level anyway. It's faster, and I can see a lot more things. I pretend I am sitting in the command chair in a 25th century Combat Information Center looking at the big picture map, much like one in a modern warship.

Ah, more posts decrying the one time activation. And pumping up the CD DRM schemes. I wonder about the source. SD's activation process is great. No bother to the majority of the users - only the vocal few here seem to decry it. Of coarse some have had issues - and if you read the majority of the posts, those issues were fixed. By Stardock support. And if one bothers to read those threads, solutions are given too. From the lead developer himself most times. But rant o
You are using regional Dutch settings. Change regional settings to english; use numeric format as 1,000.00 May want to see this thread here: https://forums.galciv2.com/index.aspx?ForumID=162&AID=109533&p=1
Also, you are using Dutch regional settings. You may want to try to change to English regional, and use numeric format as 1,000.00. See the thread here for more dicussion. https://forums.galciv2.com/index.aspx?ForumID=162&AID=109533&p=1
Devs are aware of memory issues. See this thread for email addy to use when reporting them. https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=274&AID=114839#882619
I have learned to jump the Torians early on or they can become a real powerhouse in 1.1 on Tough and above. I don't totally wipe them out, I really enjoy having them around to whip on when I get mad.
Copy the sig.bin file to another location. Rename it. Delete the original. Try again.
How long does it take for the medals to show up in our posts on the forums? Thanks!
Obviously it is not. As soon as the game tries to use more virtual memory than you have allocated, you will experience a crash. The devs havve said this issue where the game will use excessive swap file sizes is the number #1 priority for 1.2. Help them out, run SmartException and send the crash dumps to Stardock support - there is a thread runnng around here from the last day or so where Frogboy put in the email addy of one of the devs who will be working on correcting this. <
My gawd. Sounds like some folks here are really pushing to have us put in CD's...well, if that's what you want, go buy a game with Starforce. And then you'll really have security issues ...of coarse, all you self proclaimed Internet sucurity experts already know about the issue with Stardock altering the NT 0 ring security acces and all that...right???? Sheesh. Tyope the password into notepad, put in on a floppy or USB Stick, lock it up in a safe deposit box if you ar

Or is it just my imagination? Seems like an awful lot of complaints (most never followed up with debug logs, etc.after the OP) about the installation and activation process are posted overnight in the US - when it is business hours in a certain place where a certain DRM company that really dislikes Stardocks approach to Game activation is located. Or maybe I'm just a tad paranoid....
Not an oversight. It works that way because the NLC's are only available to neutral civs. What's the big deal? I have arthritis and it doesn't bother me a bit to have to click a few times. Sheesh - folks will complain about anything.
Try these: Update your video drivers. Try increasing the minimum size of your page file to 1GB. Don't set your game resolution to be bigger than your desktop.
That behavior was common with the betas. A reboot fixes it. My semi-educated guess is the fonts are not being registered correctly. But just a guess.
I'm hoping that the emphasis in 1.2 is to get the modding folders working! Besides, I want to see Brad's alternative universe mod!
You are someone after my own heart. I marvel at those who seem to play multiple games in a matter of hours. For me, the true enjoyment of a TBS is to immerse yourself, to savor each turn like a fine wine. Glad to see someone else out there plays the same way...I was beginning to wonder if I was really weird....
Post the contents of your debug.err log located in the main game folder and see if someone here can help.
Your vid drivers are two years old - not up to date. That card should work with updated drivers. BTW , the release 1.1 is out - you may want to update to that too.
The only problem is an internal employee in a call advised me that the problem lies in the program, not in my system. No I will not release the date of the call or their name. I have had multiple contacts within Stardock on the phone at different times. And I am Santa claus. Take my word for it. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL
Nope. No interest at all in MP. There are plenty of choices of good MP games out there - but very few SP games worth a hoot. Stardock only has so many people and a limited amount of time and resources to work on the game - I'd rather they spent it on things to improve SP. Keep the MP slider at 0. Push the research and SP sliders all the way up. They have said they will do MP in GC3...I have no issu
@Wade - I never leave a square empty - they are too precious. I put them to use with something I know I can spare later for a more important building. For example. I may build an extra Lab on planet A to get a few more research points, but planning that I'll upgrade it to a Stock Market when planet A will need more economy, morale and influence bonuses later on in the game to help offset it's increased costs - and
There is a great diagnostic post in this thread by CariElf of Stardock with some great tips. https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=274&AID=111740#872422 I'd suggest downloading and running SmartException and emailing the dumps to Stardock support.
I'm neutral on the treaty subject. But as far as borders, this is space. Not a planet. They work in Civ4 because that game was designed for them to work that way -as actual 'diplomatic' borders that can be fortified - GC2 is a different game, they are only 'influence' borders - big difference in concept.
