"Free" when I'm feeling interactive and want the best view, "from start" when I'm feeling lazy and just want to sit back and watch.

I've had this happen, but can't seem to reproduce it. There's got to be a secondary trigger at work.
You need the complete Radioactive Colonization research (parts 1 & 2) inorder to enjoy the full productivity. He did that already.
Something was broken, or something else you were doing was wrong. These kinds of worlds have half production when you have the first habitation tech for them, and full production (ie they work just like a normal habitable world) once you have the full one.
I got an event that wiped out EVERYONE'S influence points a little past mid-game such that all the civilizations' borders went back to their planetary defaults (it was labeled as a "wave of xenophobia"). Needless to say, several asteroid fields swapped hands and now an Influence Victory (fortunately I wasn't aiming for that goal this time around) is pretty much impossible. That's not a mega event, it's been in
I too love this event, and would like to see the Jagged Knife be a bit more aggressive.
This whole discussion seems odd to me. I just lost a game, badly, because fleets that were roughly equal to those of my AI opponent when neither of us were using defense started unilaterally dying before AI fleets using proper defenses. I finally managed to even things back out by implementing some defense tech myself, which in DL I virtually never did. Obviously I can only speak from my own experience, but I'm not going to be ignoring defense in future DA games based on this experience.
There's a problem there, though. If it under values them it'll be too easy to boost your own research and economy to insane heights by acquiring them from the AI. I don't know what the best solution for the way they're being exploited is, but the things really are valuable and the AI isn't wrong to treat them as such.
Interesting. In general AI's in my games are very remiss to enter into treaties until the game's moved along a bit and they can get a read on who would be good to treaty up with. Maybe that effect needs to be even more pronounced, I don't know. What difficulty are you playing on quickclay?
Treaty values are based on relative economic and research strength of the empires involved, if you watch.
If you think the diplomacy model is a good shield for military action, try using it as a shield for cultural takeover. I was literally absorbing entire empires in my Korx game last night while the very empires I was eating were sending me 600 bc gifts of admiration for my benevolence. The diplomatic model needs to be considerably more "aware" than it is now, plain and simple. I get the sense that Brad's aware of this and working on it, for what it's worth.
I don't know if I'm doing this wrong or what. I have difficulty set to tough, then I go into each races "edit" option and turn the econ to 90%. I save, hit "next," and do this for each race. When I go back and "edit" any of those races again the econ slider has reset to 100%. Is there any way to make the change stick? The aggression and CPU sliders stay put, but the econ one keeps resetting. Is there a way to make this work?
P.S. ---------------- Why does almost every ethical decision exist only to punish any attempt to be good. Because there has to be some disadvantage to being good, and without that there really isn't. If you're evil, you are going to have some substantive diplomatic problems. If you're good, you're going to have some unpleasant event choices. If you're neutral, you're going to be so-so across the board. It
Which is why you should never rely on trade for income. Its not worth much, and it comes and goes too easily. Trade should only be used as "diplomatic hostility supression". "Not worth much"? Are you nuts? Most games I'm pulling in about a third of my income off trade. Admittedly I tend to produce several econ bases around trade hubs, but +90% of negligible would still be negligible, and in my experience trade in
Yup, I've observed this as well. I've never had a planet flip when I have an MCC in play. I don't build them anymore, as a result.
It actually doesn't happen in peace time, or at all if a peace treaty isn't involved. I logged it with SmartEx and mailed it in, so hopefully it'll get straightened out.
Thanks kryo, I'll do that. Both of these seem pretty reproducible, fortunately, so hopefully I can help you track them down.
Interesting. Well, I've not built one again since that game, since I suspect that it IS preventing defections. I didn't know about the 100% econ exploit, but that's just another good reason to pretend the thing's not in the game at all. Pity though, if it did what it was supposed to do it'd be ideal for my usual evil strategy.
The MCC's intended function is missing from the game, and apparently the game treats any unknown abilities as economy bonuses. This is a popular exploit used by high-difficulty players since the bonus is civ-wide, giving you a considerable income boost. Ah, so that's a known issue then? It seemed to me, the last time I played with an MCC, that it not only wasn't working, it was actively preventing defections to me. I don't know if it was
Does anyone know if LogicSequences mod substantially affects performance? Any recommended specs for that? I ask because I'd like to use it (it's gorgeous, from the screens) but don't want to break anything.
I've had two crashes in DA thus far and figured I'd list them on the off chance they aren't known issues. The first occurs whenever I attempt to negotiate for planets with a minor race (specifically, the Jagged Knife). Clicking on any of thier planets in the diplo list crashes the game. The second occurred when I tried to zoom on the pop-up minimap. Top of debug.err follows, I'm happy to provide any other info you may need: Debug Message: Version v1.50 Dark Avatar l
Actually, the more I think about, it might be more straightforward to simply give a large upfront diplomatic penalty for the use of the quick strike tactic, as oppossed to changing the war declaration rules, which could be cumbersome. Yup, suprise attacks should be regarded by other civilizations in a very bad light.
Some questions to consider: * How much more apprehensive would you be about starting a war with someone that you didnt know the exact number of ships, with the exact specifications , or how many troops you needed to invade with, by simply clicking on one of their worlds on the map? (unless you had good intel) * What if you didnt know even what weapon types the opposing ships had, until you faced them in battle the first time? (unless you had good
Wow, this has turned into a bitchfest worthy of... well of an internet message board. For the record, in my opinion, this is damn near the perfect 4x game for me. DA just made it moreso. I'd like to see a few things tweaked or adjusted, I'd like to see an even stronger AI, but in general I think my wants happen to align pretty well with those of the designers. I'm looking forward to anything else you guys may do with this game. Keep it up.
I assume they have a Terran looking image for a good reason, much like the Altarians.
