Mumblefratz, it's clear that you understand why Stardock does what it does, and you accept that maybe a large part of the problem lies in your own OCD behavior when it comes to software on your PC. So I'm not sure what you want Stardock to do. I'm the same way, but I can live with this decision. The updates are meant to be rewards for those who buy the game, If Brad makes the patches standalone, then there's no longer that incentive for the normal person to purchase. Anyone can si
Hollow Man
No. To get to the latest version you need to use Stardock Central or Impulse. -HM
I think I may have misread his post. [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/310313"]Here[/link] is where he something about not generally covering content changes in a manual, only UI changes, of which there aren't many in Twilight. But then, as you point out, he said something about releasing an update to it in the near future. So my apologies for being confused. -HM
Yeah, you guys are right, and I'm sure Brad could be persuaded to make an exception if the circumstances warrant it. -HM
[quote]If you truly hate this game and Stardock, I would suggest you quit playing it and ask Brad Wardell for your money back. I'm sure (based on previous post and comments) he would be more than happy to refund all of your Stardock purchases and black list you from future purchases.[/quote] Alas, he apparently hasn't done that since the OS/2 days. :) -HM
Here's the bundle (all 3 games): [link="https://store.stardock.com/product.aspx?productid=ESD-TGN-W279"]https://store.stardock.com/product.aspx?productid=ESD-TGN-W279[/link] -HM
Babamilo, I don't want to get into a back-and-forth. But here's what I am willng to comment on: Brad clearly loves GalCiv2. Note that he says the rest will "depend on you." He's said elsewhere that he's open to the idea of releasing more content. Furthermore, if it can be proven that there are problems with the game, I'm quite sure he and his team will work hard to fix them. Second, if you can clearly show that placing spies causes a crash, and they can replicate it on thei
Um, sorry, try these: [link="https://store.stardock.com/product.aspx?productid=ESD-TGN-W262"]https://store.stardock.com/product.aspx?productid=ESD-TGN-W262[/link] [link="https://store.stardock.com/product.aspx?productid=SSD-TGN-W262"]WWW Link[/link] -HM
This happens sometimes with their site. Try the two bottom links (depending on whether you want the CD or not): [link="https://store.stardock.com/product.aspx?productid=ESD-TGN-W262"]https://store.stardock.com/product.aspx?productid=ESD-TGN-W262[/link] [link="https://store.stardock.com/product.aspx?productid=SSD-TGN-W262"]https://store.stardock.com/product.aspx?productid=SSD-TGN-W262[/link] (ignore the post I made after this) -HM
Did you update to version 1.91? This bug was fixed in that update. -HM
So Babamilo, how's your "strategy" working for you? Not too good, huh? Well, if your goal is to annoy and complain, then I guess it's working just fine. But if your goal is get your game working, then I respectfully recommend you change your methods. Stardock is not perfect. No developer is. But if you've been using their products as long as you say you have, then you should've come to the conclusion that they do actually care, and will try hard to solve problems as they come up.<b
According to Zargon in reply #19 it has. If it's not working, you may want to sift through posts here (which will help you edit the registry to make sure the EXE and PATH variables are present and pointing to the correct locations. But it does involve messing w/the registry, so obviously, do so at your own risk. -HM
It will likely install it in a different folder than where you currently have it installed. -HM
Well kryo, this definitely wasn't a mistaken price (this was an advertised MADNESS sale), but they probably screwed up and got more orders than they expected. Sucks, and I don't think it was cool of them to turn down some orders, but if MottiKhan gets two, that's better than zero! -HM
Yes, Bioshock has a revoke tool so you can remove one of your licenses from their license server. -HM
How utterly bizarre. I've never had problems with them. Of course I've never contacted them either, thus never giving them the opportunity to stupidly think that by sending an email it means, "Cancel my order." I found these two phone numbers: 877-599-7378 949-609-1677 -HM
They yanked the "phone home" every 10 days: [link="http://masseffect.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=629059&forum=125&sp=0"]http://masseffect.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=629059&forum=125&sp=0[/link] -HM
You do not have the latest version of the game. You can use Stardock Central or Impulse to download it, or get the standalone patch here: [link="https://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/update.aspx"]https://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/update.aspx[/link] -HM
At least it doesn't stop you from gaming, and THAT'S what's important! -HM
The last thing I read said they weren't planning on updating the manual. -HM
They may have created the install so it does both games at the same time, but the end result is the same. They are three separate games, and they get installed in three different folders: C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2 C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Twilight They have three different version numbers (1.5, 1.80g, and 1.91), and there are three separate executables, so you can run whic
For hosting a game, your best bet is follow the advice given here by The Monk: [link="http://www.kiclan.com/monk/Networking_and_SINS_by_the_Monk.pdf"]http://www.kiclan.com/monk/Networking_and_SINS_by_the_Monk.pdf[/link] More details are [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/174313"]here[/link], but basically you need to forward TCP ports 6000 and 6112 to your hosting PC's IP address. -HM
What resolution are you playing at? I don't have to scroll at all to see that option. I'm running 1280x960. -HM
Glad it worked. Sometimes the edit button isn't there. Yeah, definitely frustrating. :) -HM
The Dark Avatar patch will not take care of GalCiv2. You have to patch both. Gold just means you got both together in the box, but it's the same as if you bought them separately. -HM
