I couldn't believe it until I ran through the posts. Yes, every 10 days it requires the Internet so you can continue to play your SINGLE PLAYER GAME. I mean hell, even with Steam, after the first on-line authentication, you can put Steam in offline mode and play it without the 'net forever. I thought the Bioshock fiasco on week of release with the servers going down was bad. This is beyond worse. -HM

I already have to suffer with this when it comes to Steam games, so with Stardock I'm sure to buy their CDs/DVDs in case I want to start from step zero. The only way you can downgrade to 1.03 is if you: a. Archived the game after you updated to 1.03 b. Archived the game prior to 1.03 and saved the standalone patch for 1.03 c. Own the DVD and saved the standalone patch for 1.03 Remember that if you play a version prior to 1.04 that you will not be able to play on Ironclad Online. -HM

It is highly likely the problem is on your end. Random reboots can be caused by many things. I would start by: 1. Testing your memory 2. If overclocking, change clock speeds for CPU and/or video card back to stock 3. Updating your video driver 4. Updating your sound driver The drivers may be the easiest place to start, because it could explain why older games, such as Civ4, don't exhibit the behavior. -HM

Um, Dark Avatar wasn't available standalone in the stores either. You had to buy GalCiv2 Gold. So it was highly unlikely that this new expansion would be available either. Shelf space is difficult to purchase, and with a niche product like this, it's hard to get stores to agree. So perhaps you might want to place a bit of blame that way before accusing Stardock, because I suspect if there was a good and cost effective way to put this on the shelf, they would've. -HM
If you've changed your monitor's refresh rate from the default of 60, You may also need to manually change that setting in the file that Annatar talks about above. I had to do this in order to get display options to show up in game for my monitor (which I have set to a refresh rate of 85). -HM

My friends and I play against hard AIs all the time and we don't get crashes. We've only gotten one, and went sent to Ironclad, they told us it was the pathfinding bug (see Droom1's reply). In most cases the crash is caused by a hardware or driver problem. There's also the possibility that the problem is the "sync" bug, which affects multiplayer in a small number of instances. You'll have to go back to earlier posts I made on the Impulse forums, but if I recall, the problem is that yes, SDC does not put the "Path" value in place for the expansions. Without it Impulse can't see the expansions, thus, thinks they're not installed. So if you want Impulse to see the games, you have to either a) add the path var manually, or b) uninstall them from SDC, then reinstall them with Impulse. Installing them w/Impulse will put the path variable in place. -HM

David, First, did you uninstall the Beta of Twilight. If you installed Twilight from scratch in Impulse, it should not have given you that string for EXE. That's what mine in beta used to have, even though I have XP. It used to work, but with the last update of Impulse and the release of Twilight, Impulse didn't see my stuff properly.
