I would carefully compare the graphics settings that you have in Twilight to what you have in Dread Lords and Dark Avatar. You may have inadvertently turned something off or down. -HM
Hollow Man
Are you sure that both computers are at the same Sins version number? This will happen in 1.04 if you try to load a game saved under version 1.03. -HM
Yeah, I didn't get a chance to play the beta much, so when I cranked the game up, I was stunned to see how good it looked. I sure as hell don't remember Dark Avatar looking that good (and it didn't, heh). -HM
Stardock will take just about any payment method you can think of, probably even a check. So just go through them and they'll send you a disc. I especially suggest this because you already own the Gold Edition. I'd bet good money that if Stardock does decide to release this in stores, they won't bother with just the expansion. They'll release some "Platinum" edition that'll have all three GalCiv2 titles in it. -HM
Darn, no edit. Basically, follow my reply #10 above, but tailor it for Twilight. The exe is "TALaunch.exe" and the Path will be "C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Twilight" (or whatever your specific path is). -HM
Look above in my reply #10. -HM
There is currently no plan to release Twilight in the stores. You can always order from Stardock and choose to have them send you a disc in the mail. -HM
Once you install the game, the only thing it will put in the Start Menu is the shortcut to the launcher (TALaunch.exe). -HM
For any Stardock application with version xx.yy.zz, if only zz is changed, it merely denotes a change on the backend and is not significant. It will probably not hurt anything to not update. If however, you do choose to update, and you installed all of the games under SDC first, you might want to read through my comments in reply #10 [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/310285"]here[/link] and make sure the registry keys for the GalCiv2 games are correct. If something is missing or incor
It's a white rectangular sticker that says something like "PC SINS SOLAR CODE STKR" in black type, and then has the serial number. -HM
The biggest problem about it not having a campaign is that it's tricky for new players to figure the game out. The tutorials are a start, but as much as I love Ironclad and Stardock (truly guys, I do!), it's not that polished, and it ignores so much. Additionally, the manual really leaves out a lot. Just go look at an old Civilization manual (even the Civ3 and Civ4 ones) - now THAT'S how a strategy game's manual should be. Chock full of detail. s is, the user is left guessing about things l
I don't know if the peer-to-peer architecture of the game will allow observers to simply jump in a game that's in progress. Client-server would make this a breeze, but Sins probably won't ever use that model. -HM
As Annatar said, go to the location where that file is located, put it in a zip file, and email it to [email protected]. They'll be able to help figure out why the game crashed. In most cases it's a hardware or software problem. -HM
I don't even think you have to reactivate it. I believe you only need to do that to download the updates. But if you've archived the latest version, you won't need updates, and it should work as soon as you restore it. -HM
The problem with the custom races button being greyed out has been fixed by a game patch Stardock released yesterday. The NVIDIA driver update is recommended for those having, er, graphics issues. :) -HM
KiRon, your topic mainly has to do with transferring the license to another person, which is not what rylan76 is concerned about. rylan76, your best option to prevent the problem you're worried about is to simply archive your games through Impulse or SDC. Activation is only needed to download updates, so if whatever reason Stardock vanished tomorrow, as long as you had a current archive, you could play the game (fully updated), as is, with no intervention by Stardock needed. -
You can reinstall from the archive you make as many times as you want. It's unclear to me as to whether you can simply use your old sig.bin file for registration purposes. You may have to reactivate the program, depending on what Stardock looks for when your setup changes. -HM
If you don't like using the launcher widget, all of the Editor tools are located here: C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Twilight\Tools And are called: GC2MapEditor.exe GC2ScenarioEditor.exe GC2CampaignEditor.exe GC2TechTreeEditor.exe GC2ShipComponentEditor.exe GC2ImprovementEditor.exe Just go there, find the appropriate program you want, and create a shortcut (or six!) on your Desktop or in your Start Menu. -HM
A serial number is not required to install, but it is for updates. It should be on a white sticker inside the DVD case, above the DVD itself. Make sure it did not come unstuck and loose in the case. There's also a possibility if it was purchased at a store like Gamestop, and they had it unwrapped on the shelf, that they removed it so it couldn't be taken (and then they forgot to give it to you). -HM
The 1.04 patch contains all the other patches. You only need to download 1.04. -HM
You don't have to uninstall your games before installing Impulse. Impulse may show your games as having a small update (the "zz" in version xx.yy.zz), but they're negligible. Simply indicating that a different backend was used to create the file for downloading. -HM
[quote]One q: Just noticed a patch to 1.91. Thanks much for the quick updating! Any chance you can say what was fixed?[/quote] [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/310522"]https://forums.galciv2.com/310522[/link] -HM
You only need to do the activation if you want to patch the game. But, yes, if you install on a different PC, you'll have to activate for that privilege. -HM
Thanks Brad! -HM
NeuralTech, relax. Dark Avatar was only available as a single disc in sleeve from Stardock too. They did put a box that had it and GalCiv2 on the shelf, and maybe if it looks cost effective they'll do the same with Twilight. But for now this is what we got. I'm sure the shipping shouldn't be $20. kryo said a day or so ago if it was coming up as $20 for USA customers, it was probably a mistake. Contact sales and ask them. -HM
