Not all bonuses are created equal, some are clearly more valuable than others as you will learn once you start playing. You also need to factor in starting planet quality, and the secondary planet in their starting system. Something else that is important is their AI. Every race has a slightly different behavior. That usually makes more difference than their bonuses. They aren't perfectly balanced, but neither are they badly lopsided.

If you waited till software was completely free of bugs, you'd still be using DOS. Actually you wouldn't even be using that. Judging from your post, you should be playing Nintendo, and not computer games.

Eventually my plan is to make scripts an option for modders. That is, there will be an AI.XML file and each personality will have a "Use Script" option in which they can input things like what buildings they build and in what order, what techs they should research and tons of other things. But scripts are bad news in general be

They do need a payment plan or tribute system. Also for an evil race, handing over population could be an option, everyone could use more slaves. Buying and selling population should also be a diplomatic option for evil races. Good race should be restricted to just buying slaves, presumably to be freed and integrated into their society.

First game I played, I tried flipping a minor race. Researched all the cultural influence bonuses, and built as many cultural starbases near his world as could.

1. More diplomacy options. 2. More races. 3. A Mature Galaxy option (Where all the colonization is already done, and planets already buily up with the basic buildings) 4. Tweakable AI 5. More ship modules 6. Ships able to retreat 7. Being able to select target priority before combat. 8. A never surrender option. Even when the last race of a race's planets are conquered, they fight on as long as they have ships and sta

Months sounds a little bit better, but even changing it to months, and even with the beta patch where they slow population growth it is still an unrealistic growth rate. If you want to change it to something that makes real world sense then change it to years.

It's already been fixed, so... update your game to the 1.0d patch, or try the 1.1 beta 4. recommend the offical patch over the beta though

You do have tactical combat. You have open space; it's not like games where you can only fly directly between stars, or only by "star lanes." How you coordinate your attacks, regroup, and counterattack is all very tactical. Admittedly its rather simple tactics, attacking first, regrouping, and avoiding counterattack, but it's there. <TD class="mb-Bo

For something as simple as cutting it to size or shrinking , and saving it as a png, I just use IrfanView (it's free). Make the picture 256x256, name it RaceImage__Something, save as a png, drop it in program files/stardock/totalgaming/galciv2/gfx/race, and you're done. Logos are 128x128. If you want to do more, get the GIMP. It's a decent opensource picture editor.

Everyone just waited their turn to be attacked. I'll have to put some thought on how to do that. Weaker races need to start quckly trying to get alliances to avoid being crushed by a superpower either with a superpower, or a coaltion to oppose them. Once one race starts becoming dominant, everyone should b

I got raped on masochist level with the latest beta in one game (culture defeat by torians)then really kicked ass on the next game. The Torians do well now because of the changes made in population growth. It's not anything they do, except breed faster. More population=more influence. Make Love
