For those that wonder.... I just managed to read a former post on this. It was timing out, so I couldn't read it earlier after what seemed like 30+ tries;) Sorry for the double posting.

Surfing these forums, I seem to get alot of long waits and then timeout errors when posting, loading pages, etc. The occasional SQL error too. Does anyone else have trouble with this? My system is running off of a *very* fast, clean business DSL line through a gigabit network to a 64bit computer, which is the only one using the connection at the moment. It is *not* a problem here, but perhaps my ISP is having some local network issues int

Another question: When you trade a unique trade good, do you keep the effects? Can you trade it to multiple civs at once? Can you stop trading it later? Do trade embargos effect them?

Ok, I look at it this way: Your Income: Your population earns a certain amount of money (potential collected taxes). The first slider lets you decide how much of the potential tax money available you are collecting. The rest of the sliders are independent of how much money you are collecting. Your Spending: Your population then has a certain amount of people available to fill jobs and work in any industry to which they are assigned.

Chris: The registry key is as follows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Stardock For some reason, MS felt that it made since to put all the x86 files into folders/nodes called wow64, and all x64 into the ones called system32 and such. Such depths of wisdom, those folks;)

In 1.1, the scores will be divided again by the game turn (so game turn ^2). Existing scores will be retroactively re-calculated. You mean that you guys are actually going to fix the old scores instead of just clear them all out? You guys really are workaholics!

I have never noticed a benifit when selecting creativity, however I have gotten techs for ultradrive and such that speed up my ships, increase birth rate, as well as some for my research at random. The research one helped everyone though. Are those always included in the game (these were not moral choices), or is that part of creative. I can't remember if I was using the creative option when those came up.

I think it would be nice for some 'space dust' or perhaps a little star blur when the ships or camera move. It would really give the battle views some scope, and a more 3D appearance. I realize that such things are not what really happens in space, but as said: this is a sci-fi game . Just my 1 1/2 cents.

I can't edit the post above, but here is another question: 6. What does the tech Starbase Conquest Strategy mean when it says that it 'enables starbases to be the flagship of your fleets'? Can you actually add them to your fleets? Can your ships in the same parsec fight with with the starbase in a battle?

Just to let you know, it works great on x64 windows! The installer didn't know to look in the wow64 tree of the registry for my game path, but not a big deal. Is there a significance to the way some techs are child nodes of others, for example the Phasors techs have PII nested in PI, and then everything from PIII after is nested into PII. Just wondering if it makes a difference in game somehow.

If you simulate two small fighters with good defence and light offense, you get a random result for who wins and remaining HP of winner. I believe this is the same result recieved in-game. That can make for some long battles!

I've been playing for a little while, and I have a few questions that I didn't see covered in the manual... 1. Do you steal techs faster if you keep funding after advanced level espionage? 2. Do effects from moral choices effect your whole race, or just the planet they are occuring on? 3. How do you set rally points? 4. How do you get espionage for the minor races? 5. What does the tech Starbase Conqest Strategy mean when it says that it 'enables starbases to b

More than once I've had such a 'coincidence' where the AI brought up a subject that opposed my culture startagy (starbase modules, etc) just when I was starting to grow powerful. You sure the AI doesn't sometimes think about those things?

I had it once vote on a 'permanent' measure, then vote next time on the same measure. I voted it down both times, and held enough votes to crush all but a unanimous opposition. But still, the first one should have been permanent. I can't remember now what exactly the vote was on, but I do remember that there was not a 'no change' choice, but rather just different numbers as options. I just picked the one I was already using.

I'd settle for an option to declare war without first blowing something up. Oh, and to go onto the trade screen and use the treat of war as a bargaining chip. That'd be nice. I would also like to declare war without first attacking. And it would be really nice if all that espionage paid off and you g

I found the resturaunt of eternity, and it is still on the Torian homeworld. Don't know how I missed it, though it doesn't impact the Arcean's influence. I found it! The Arceans got a hold of the Alteran's influence resource. I had no idea that one influence resource could be so powerfull so fast!

I like to pick a weapon technology that the fewest other races have and research the crap out of it, then I sell (or sometimes donate) the defense for the other guy's tech to whoever is loosing. I find this keeps them busy long enough for me to bulid up. Being genourous, I've noticed brings rewards. They frequently pop up and donate money and such (usually 5-20% of what they have total) 'due to my glorious and wonderful civilization', or some such t

I have seen that bug before, and assumed that is what it was. It has not changed now, after about 20 or so turns. My influence has grown very slightly, so I must still have the upper hand though some of my worlds are now entirely in their territory. It used to be the other way around. The Torians built the RoE. I thought that perhaps they had captured it, but I can't find it anywhere. I have advanced espienege on all races, and can't see it. So

I'm playing a game on Normal dificulty, Medium galaxy, and 5 races. I've researched all but 4 of the influence techs, and implemented them on 5 influence starbases. I have half the map covered with pretty blue, and large ponds of blue in a few places farther out. The Alterans have already fallen, and then a new Minor race shows up. They take one world (Wisp). Suddenly, the Arceans expand their influence in that one turn and are now nearly conqueri

Influence - This, contrary to all the other types of buildings is probably the best place to slap that political capital down. The prestige bonus actually works on the capital, but it's pretty much the same thing as a Cultural Exchange Center in this regards (It just has a 50% Morale bonus too), so... yeah, it works, but not that

5) I find I dislike, and end up not using, the macro-economic sliders. The tax rate one is easy enough to deal with but the Military/Social/Research slider idea needs a re-think. Its too easy to work against yourself by perhaps setting the macro-sliders to emphasize one thing and then on a planetary basis change the "focus" to so

One item I would absolutely love to see is a toggle for freighter paths. They're currently on the grid in your race color...and are practically invisible against the black background once you have most of the fog cleared away with sensors. I have noticed that if you play with the brightness, contrast,
