It would be nice not to have two Drengin fleets parked next to one of my planets. Why not just make the influence border the official border that defines the territory? Then have a 'neutral zone' of say 5 parcecs on either side of the border designated as safe travel zones, so at least if you are at war with a race in between you can get around.

No, no numbers in the reply. I dunno. I've been using PCCillin for years and it has always done a pretty good job. And I don't directly store credit card numbers on the computer, but I have used the debit card for online purchases, so it may be stored somewhere. It was just an alarming message, since it was so out of the blue.
I have noticed the same thing. I once had three influence resources and ended up with half the map. My influence was through the roof, yet no victory came. It started in the later 1.1 beta's, I believe. Version 1.11 - I am playing my first game on it. The evil AI's seem a bit more hostile to me than before. Not a bad thing. It was too easy getting an alliance with the Drengin's before. Now maybe they won't be so buddy-buddy with me. Either it is just this particular game, o
I'm really surprised this is not more well known on this site. http://www.gc2builder.com/ GCBuilder is a map/scenerio/campaign editor. Try it, you might like it. Maybe this thread should be stickied.
Neither have I. I had hit the submit button on a post I was replying to, and PCCillin halted all activity and a message popped up saying that GalCiv2.com was requesting my credit card number, and asking if I wanted to block it or create an exception. I blocked it, of course. But, I would like to know why it happened in the first place. No response from the GalCiv team, as yet. And I would be interested in their response, whether this may be a bug of s
And, I would like to know why.
Also, OS is still SP1. Audio drivers are way old.
I just attempted to update via Stardock and it also failed. So I downloaded the update, and it installed fine.
Not so. I have made fleets, then put them in orbit, then was attacked, and they still fought as a fleet. Bringing them out of orbit breaks the fleet, because you can only bring them out one at a time. But put them in all at once as a fleet and they remain a fleet.
No, it will build the same ship until you change it.
In my experience, paying tribute is an open invitation to attack. I tried it once or twice to see what would happen, and was always attacked earlier than if I had refused. Diplomacy techs go a long way to keeping on the good side of the other races. Researching a couple early in the game can help with those early attacks.
On this last game of mine I saw a message come up saying that pirates were around. I searched for the rest of the game and never once saw them.
MadTrees, both your video and audio drivers are a bit old. Also, it looks like you have your motherboard graphics chip still enabled. It might help if you disable that in the mb BIOS. Actually, looking at the debug, the game is defaulting to that Intel graphics chip on the mb, and not your Geforce card: Debug Message: Game Resolution: 1024 x 768 Debug Message: Running fullscreen. Debug Message: HAL (sw vp): Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller
The one who attacks takes the initiative, duh. And it is not everyone firing at the same time, either. The attacker still gets the first shot, just not the last shot. The defender gets in the last shot with the new system, instead of potentially no shot at all. For me it will be a welcome change. I was upset because the versions that had it would crash on my system for some reason, so I never got to try it out.
Skyjack, do you scale down the components to their smallest size? They are barely noticable that way.
I get smooth to fairly smooth battles, depending on the number and complexity of ships. I use the Klingon ships a lot. Sometimes I will have 6-8 of the large cruisers in my fleet, along with a dozen or so smaller troop carriers in with them. The enemy fleets will get up to 13-15 ships as well. It will slow down a bit in the first rounds of those battles, but not too badly. Overall, the gameplay is smooth with a good framerate. I get 70-75 in the shipyard, 30-59 or so (depending if I a
If you have the research ability you can get 4-5 in a single turn. Once you get a dozen or so NLC's that is quite common. It is not a luck factor, it is research overflow.
How many times are you going to post this, and under how many different titles? Once would do nicely, you have done it 3 times already. And all you want is more fluff in the game? The files are moddable, although I'm not sure if you can assign different graphics and sounds for each weapon based on race. And talk about adding complexity, wow. Why don't you learn how to mod the files and make it up for us?
To get the program to work you need to close it and then restart it from the START menu, not SDC I had the same issue and this resolved it for me.. Tried that. Didn't work for me. Tried not loading it at boot time, and starting it from the Start menu, didn't work that way either. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling it. Didn't work.<b
Oh, by the way. There was no problem doing Control-N's, I had done probably 6-8 of them beginning this game. This version seems very stable on my machine. I can't seem to get SmartException to work - it always errors out when making the zip file. I did save the Autosave game and debug, err, though, in case you want me to sent those to you. Right now, it is time to go finish off those darn Drengin's and see who else wants to mess with the Meese. Time to Die, says the Dren
Yes, you are on a beta build. The 81.98's might be more stable. Sorry, I just checked something. 84.21 are the last WHQL for WinXP. 81.98 are the last WHQL for WinXP Media Center Edition, which is what I have. You are still using beta drivers, though. You might be better off going to the WHQL 84.21 drivers.
I'll probably have to retake those last few planets. It was so late, er, early, I had to get some sleep. ha. It's a 388kb debug file, so I snipped the middle most out. Ran fine up until it kicked me out to the desktop as it finished this autosave. Boy, those Klingon ships sure look good in battle... I doubt it. If it is open to both sides are you sure the fan is working? No dust in the fins or blades hampering airflow? And you mentioned 90C. The overheat warning does not trigger until something like 125C in my driver control panel. 90C should not be causing it to crash, even though it is a bit warmish. Have you tried different drivers? You have not mentioned which version you are using. You should be on version 81.98 Next time i crashes post the debug.e
I have gotten the message that "if only they were more intelligent they would wipe me out", to that effect. I think they are hinting that the game needs to be set on a higher AI level.
