One thing to keep in mind is there is nothing to be gained by adding a secondary defense unless both defenses are 2 or greater. The first defense that is added to a ship also gives you at least 1 defense against any other weapon type, I believe. So early on, 1 of anything can really be a good help. After that, wait until you can double up or have reasearched > 1 defenses together with some minituturation (sic) before slapping stuff on you ships (other than more weapons) which is always a good

Update to 1.11 was more of a project than I really cared for in Bug Reports GalCiv2 Forums

Okay, so this morning bright and early, I decide to upgrade to 1.11. I fire up Stardock Central to do the deed. It opens a thermometer window on startup, does a quick jig and says it has to close and restart (apparently because it did some sort of self-update (I wish it'd asked first if I wanted one). About an hour or so later, I finally got updated to 1.11. First couple of times after the Central update, it just told me "install failed" when I tried updating GalCiv2. So, I start digging in

Do it, Do it, please. Many have tried to duplicate and/or replicate some of the "magic" of this title and never quite accomplished it. MoM2 would console the oldies and captivate the newbies. The only bad news would be that with its release, one would have to split their gamtime between MoM2 and GalCiv2. talk about tough choices...

My own personal voodoo has shown that if you click the ^ up arrow first, you can then usually get the v down arrow to work. Obviously, the active area for the down arrow is just too small or not aligned well with the mouse cursor. The only answer that I've found is "just keep clicking"
