I can't seem to figure out how to do a regular post, not a 'quick reply', so I can't preview this. If I do it wrong, will try to fix it. I've finished 6 ships. Three insect fishy ships: Two fishy ships:
Diplomacy is a bit unbalance in Beta 5 so it will become interesting to see the changes to Beta 6, especially for technology trading or if I have to leave that of again. Unless the AI don't start trading amongst themselves more and start really demanding a high price for technology without you being allies I will leave that option off. The AI really need to understand that trading technology is very dangerou

I'm having trouble with a particular part. I want an equal part on the opposite side, but not to use the symmetry button. If I use symmetry button when I animate another part it screws up the symmetry. So what do you folks do when you want to put a piece mirroring another piece without using the symmetry buttons? Equations? Something else? Help! : )
Depends on the resource. +sensor range, while nice, won't do much for you most of the time*. +capacity, however, can give you a slight boost needed over enemy ships. +food is good, as it means you get more raw production. +morale is also good for keeping people happy. Alone, any one of the boosts won't do much, but they can add up. Get enough +morale resources and you don't need any approval buildings - a free tile for som
The minor resource bonuses stack. Those little bitty 5% can quickly turn into 135% in size of ship, hit points, Economy, Range, Ship speed, Morale and Research.....I trade all my stuff just to get them from all the AI, it will about mid game make you the most powerful player on the map.
When you are clicking on parts (Is it alt-click or shift-click or ctrl-click I am not sure as I just try them until it works.) the parts in the tray at the bottom will all show selected. So if you are trying to group 3 parts, they will all have the yellow braces around them. That is how you know you are doing it right. I have started just selecting them from down there instead of on the model, not that it makes much difference,
I was wondering how other people played in comparison to myself. In other games with diplomacy i'm always using it and paying attention to it. When it comes to diplomacy in GCIII I never try to negotiate anything. I never attempt to create treaties. I never trade for major or minor resources. These things do not seem to matter. The only time I ever used diplomacy is so I can buy a colony ship about to colonize a world I wanted to colonize. The open borders treaty does not seem useful to m
I can not seem to get the parts to be grouped. I ctrl click each part, but they're not grouped. What happens is I ctrl click them. Click the group select parts button. It becomes unclickable, the ungroup selected parts button is still unclickable and the parts remain separate in the bottom display. If I click on either of them they are still not grouped into a single part. I've been able to do it before, but do not seem to be able to now. Anyone else? Edit:Also after d
I think the most one I've played would be The Deep ones represented by Splash!. I mostly do not have a favorite, i just keep making new races or trying original ones.
Yor definitely do not play the same.
Np. Ty for response. : )
I'd get it from Stardock or if GoG carries it from there. Steam's too big. Admittedly I bought GCIII for...half price? on a brief steam sale. I was going to wait for release because i'm not fond of buying games before or at release. These days I find it best to wait a few days at least for reviews. The half price and fond memories of GCI got me to buy it from Steam. 30%? Damn, if I knew that I wouldn't have bought it from them at all regardless of sale.<
Watching the AI through many games, stopped early as well as finished, the AI seems to know exactly where habitable planets are as well as resources. But without having scouted for them. Anyone else notice this? Dev's is the AI set up that way?
If you have an Nvidia card, Shadowplay might work. Otherwise you could try raptr GVR. Shadowplay is insanely good for recording - it has less than a 2% FPS drop, but it's only for Nvidia cards, and if you have a laptop with daul graphics, can't record desktop, or, for some reason, GalCiv3 (but only on a laptop - desktops are fine) GVR works quite well on AMD cards, ~9% FPS drop, but has ~31% drop on Nvidi

I loaded this up with the public build and saw the issue you mentioned and then verified that it doesn't happen in Beta 6. Thanks for the info! I realize it is a different universe literally and figuratively, but think about Star Trek. What would happen if the Romulans started building starbases within Federation space? As well as mining resources? Particularly for both starbase types, deep in Federation space. Or switch the 'aggressor.' The Feds and the Roms would react different, but still along the lines of taking over those bases, blowing them up, war, etc. Or the real world friction between Russia and the US and the miss
I agree. I very much dislike the minor race rush for starbases, the building of starbases in your borders, and the ai not being ok with the player doing the same. In general the way borders work between races is very poor. Nobody pays attention to them.
There are other AI erratic, poor choices and strategies too. I assume it will be better in the next build as they've said.

Anyone else getting the same surrender, to another race, message every turn after the initial message? Mine says the person speaking is named "Programmer" regardless of the race's leader.
