You can follow up with transports or colony ships if you like to get the population up, but it's not at all necessary. With spores, you never need to research planetary invasion and the related techs, never need to worry about your soldering bonus, and never need to worry about sending multiple transports to try and take a world. One spore and it's yours, every time. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks

Spore tactics in Dark Avatar GalCiv2 Forums

This is my first game as the Korath. What's the tactic with Spore ships? 1)do I Spore and follow up with a Colony ship? 2)Is the supposed advantage that you don't need to research soldiering techs, at least right away? 3) I'm just not sure of what my strategy should be with Korath/Spore ships. I do well with other races so I do have a decent grasp on the game. Thanks, -Sky

Thanks for all of the replies thus far, hope there will be more to come. Unfortunately I do not plan to spend more than € 350 on a single screen. Do all games, also the ones from 2 years ago, support widescreen monitors? Which manufacturer do you prefer? Besides galciv2 (of course) I wish to play fps on this screen. Yes it is a waste to put sensors on any ships after you have EoU. The max sensor range is 15 and you cannot go above that. Thanks for the clarification.

I like Eyes of the Universe for the massive bonus to sensor range. I build one cargo hull with big engines and enough range and the remainder sensors and I just park it somewhere on sentry and wait until it notices something. (I usually play gigantic maps and don't watch everywhere.) But doesn't the Eyes of Universe give ALL ships max sensor range? If so, aren't you wasting space using sensors after you have "E of U"?

Well I tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it from scratch. I am glad to say that it worked and now have the correct version. The strange thing about this all has been the fact the initial install was done after the update had been posted so I am not sure why I did not get the updated version in the first place. Problem solved though. Thank you for the replies and the suggestions it proved most helpful. Glad to hear it.

Nearly all mice with 4 or more buttons can be programmed to allow any of the extra buttons to do what you want (including double-click). Yep. I have a "doubl-click" button set up.

The ENTER key is your friend, and mine. Makes people more likely to read your whole post. Spaces help too. It's a game. I like the concept and I think it adds to the role-play aspect. Power players will simple pick what will win the game, so they rarely pick GOOD. People have written; "If the Altarians are "good", why did they declare war on me???????" Yep, look like there are no more big toys. Look likes you can get some special weapons if you choose the "Evil" alignment, but I have never used them. They do 3-4 times the damage of weapons of the same research level.
