Turn based tactical? YICHHHH! I'd rather have no combat at all.

TACTICAL COMBAT IS NOT GONNA HAPPEN IN GALCIV II. (see below) #23 by Frogboy [Stardock] Wednesday, June 14, 2006 8:17 PM Tactical combat won't be added to GalCiv II. The poll is with regards to a future sequel (ala a GalCiv III). How many times does it have to be said? /rolleyes
PROVE IT! seriously, please do. I hate the damned things Tee Hee! The proof is in the 'not happening'.
Byran its not that hard. I mean just get or steal all the soldier techs you can. Battleship designed like this, Augmented Engines Troop Pods Heavy Armor if it will fit Fill the rest of the ship up with Neutron Blasters (Death Rays better). Have at least 3 or 4 of these Softening ship all the defense tech and offense tech you can cram

There is a custom map called 'Epic Galaxy' (Could be Collectors Edition only, not sure.) That one is roughly 3 times the size of the real galaxy. My computer crashed while loading it as it ran out of memory I could just see the mini map and well it looked about 4?! times the size of gigantic. 3 times the size of the real galaxy.
There IS a planet locator but it is currently broken.
Tough, they're coming back. Skyjack, starbases DO move and they do kill things. At least in GC1. And now they're coming back. The reason I'm sounding so sure of myself is because every time I've asserted the matter before, I've then been told it's wrong by a Stardock member. So here's hoping Brad says "Actually, Terror Stars suck, let's not do that". But if you look

Also, there would be an option to make it totally optional. So people who don't want to tactical combat need not worry.
If the French version ever gets finished make sure you have a French flag for the race symbol. It can be the usual white flag, or you can just a have a picture of a bunch of frogs heading for the hills. Awesome! <img src="http://images.stardock.com
Large maps cause extreme slowdown, that's why they don't go any bigger. Maybe on your machine mine laughs at Gigantic galaxies. I WANT BIGGER GALAXIES!
If combat is turn-based, I'm out.
UM...starbases don't move. Also, this is not a Star Wars game...
I'd be happy if they just FIXED the combat viewer.
"Pole" result?
Dude, low-end does not equate to obsolete, or antique. If you're talking about a computer it does. Saying that all games with eye candy are bad games is innacurate at best . Their are a lot of great-looking games which are GOOD games out there now. Sounds like low-end sour grapes to me. Fancy people want graphics and w
Sixty million tons Nod and wiggle like Jello What were they thinking
Playing as Terran. Invade a 14 planet, only 10 squares are available. No matter which invasion tactic used.
Yep, it happens sometimes. Restart and pray.
It was 1.2b. THAT's why it mattered. All the naysayers will see once the patch comes out. Defense DOES matter, MUhhahahahahahah!
I don't know about that. I think, personally, that cheaters have a very specific circumstance they want to experience. We have full jobs, social obligations, and life in general to deal with. Why should we game through hours of turns, only to have our enjoyment screwed up by the game not going in a direction we enjoy? There is no need to denigrate cheaters, as long
EDIT: how could you guys have missed it? It's only a huge button at the bottom of the combat viewer? Wow. I can't believe how many people didn't know this. I got it day one! RANT: "Hey SD. Can the ship "nodding" be modded out. To me it's the most annoying aspect of the game. Especially on Large and Huge ships, watching them wiggle and nod really kills the immersion. The larger
I had two races surrender to me in my current game. One was an ally, we were fighting an enemy and he just gave up and suurendered to me. Later, I was fighting another civ and they surrendered to me. I liked this and both surrenders felt logical at the time.
For instance, last game I remember it occuring, I was researching Chaff. When I discovered Chaff, I also discovered Smart Chaff (the next in the Chaff line). This is NOT CREATIVITY in action. What you describe there is RESEARCH OVERRUN, and you get this all the time with no CREATIVITY selected. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/s
