Now THAT's embarrassing... It does work...
x2'd. I know when I've been beaten. Now the question is...why in the seven hells is this mechanic hidden?! It's nowhere near apparent!
The point I'm trying to get across with this part of my post - there are so many things wrong with the

To reply: 1.) In consideration from the devs, but probably for a 1.3 update, as per the most recent live stream (June 5). Mostly because "it's the type of thing that has the potential to break a lot of stuff" 2. and 3.) Not gonna happen. I believe it's been said by devs multiple times in days past. 4.) Already in the game...? 5.) Not sure what you mean here.
Overproduction you are mixing up two things here 1) the ability to build multiple buildings per turn this is not in the game and the devs have pretty much said it wont be 2) production overflow this is when any excess production goes into the next building this is in the game and works as intended ( which means you will not build more then one building per turn

This. This. Allllll of this! I don't usually post and rather enjoy reading the 'discourse' in the forums about such mechanisms as starbases and sensor boats and planet distributions (no matter how inflammatory they might get). But here is everything that I knew I thoroughly disliked about the game and some things that never occurred to me until now, presented in a much more eloquent fashion than I could hope to post. The AI and gameplay ch

I'm not necessarily the biggest MMO fan or player, but from what I've seen, all a company needs to make a profit off of a MMO is a relatively wide fanbase (who may need a little refresher on the main topic) and a pretty easy, basic story and game mechanics. After that, the MASSIVELY part of the MMO genre should kick in, because there needs to be an expansive universe for the player to make their own decisions and craft their own 'life'. That's what made WoW the phenomenon it is today;

You get that chocolate. In fact, you get more chocolate than you could ever want in your entire life. Hershey's Kisses, Kit Kats, Snickers, Milky Ways, those crazy little gourmet chocolates...yes, everything. You attempt to eat it all, but go into diabetic shock and end up in a coma and have both legs amputated. Due to this comatose state, your girlfriend leaves you for a tall, rich, handsome, muscular, talented man (such as myself...no, but seriously) and makes sweet passio

1. Homeworld 1b. Homeworld 2 - these two were the first truly epic games that I've played, not only for the difficulty and amazing soundtrack, but the ambience that they inferred. Dude, if you look at some of the backgrounds for maps there are hunks of metal the size of freaking planets there! That alone is an instant win (you can see how skewed my priorities are when choosing good games :/) 2. Company of Heroes/ Opposing Fronts, whatever that new expan

Hi. I've had a recent wave of nostalgia come over me in the last few days and I've wanted to play a few games I haven't in awhile. I installed DL just fine, got it updated fine, played a couple of games fine and dandy. However, I lost my DA serial number, and I'm kind of confused as to what to do now. It should be noted that I've changed my email adress (and subsequently updated my account) from the one I used when I purchased DA, and have recieved emails from Stardock containing the serial

I was thinking something like a solar storm that takes up a whole sector (or more) and ships can move through it but they will lose health every week they are in the storm. Perhaps there could be a module that decreases the rate of HP you lose in a storm... Perhaps this could be implemented in a super ability somehow (maybe to replace the rediculously useless super ability of my beloved Drengin <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/SadAng

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. I've heard so much about it and I'd love to play it but I can't afford the $100+ that it & the expansion are going for nowadays. Sorry...this made me crack up. Found my copy w/expansion and game guide in original box for $5 at a garage sale.

Anyone hear that sound? That's the sound of my jaw (and probably everyone else's) hitting the floor. Great story, I'm on the edge of my seat!

freespace 2 this game owned Amen! Descent Freespace: The Great War and Freespace two are by far the two games I would like to have revived. Though Freespace 2 came out in 1999, it is still a game I frequently play and enjoy. The storyline is what gets me, though. I'll decide one day that I'll go and play a few missions just for the heck of it and end up going through the entire campaign. Oooh...Sathanas Juggernauts *drools*. So, o

if you did this you would be immortal and at the sametime you would die Not necessarily, daniel, but you do have a good point. A person may be immortal (so inherently you can't die), but that person is also subject to the law of gravity. Unfortunately, once you go in, you can't get back out (unless you can phase yourself into pure energy, which in itself is pretty sweet). I obviously didn't think this through very well when I made that above

Luck +25 helps me in the initial phases because it increases the frequency of those delicious 1000bc and 2500bc anomalies. I'd keep the point for luck just for that. Scrap the creativity bonus, though, and put it on something more useful.

They have meds for that now. I'm probably on those. I assume they can be corrected, but it would require going into the x-file and actually changing the model. I personally can't do that... Kinda disappointing, but oh well. Keep up the good work!

The way I got better at building ships is by hanging around kenwebb's Omega Shipyards and the ship design 2007 thread. Take a close look at the ships and its easy to see how people use parts in unique ways to create completely different shapes. Look at kenwebb's, PubMaster's, Hillslam's (pre-DA, so he's on the previous ship design thread, pgs 9-12, I think), and TG_Steeler's ships. Don't get discouraged, you'll learn!

General Pants, is there any way to correct some default in game jewels (such as the terran pieces that aren't *quite* symmetrical when flipped in the opposite direction)? Maybe it doesn't bother some people, but I am extremely OCD about my ship designs and even the slightest flaw causes me to scrap the entire thing. Is there a possibility you could adress this in the future?

If only i could be able to comprehend the immense size of the universe- the billions of trillions of stars within trillions of galaxies, the infinitely immense distances between them, and the 15 or so billion years that have transpired since the creation of everything. Think about it...there could be a supernova that is going on right now five billion light years away, but we won't ever see it within our lifetime, or even within the lifetime of our solar system. Or the

I also get this event quite frequently. An effect of 3000+ ships, however, I've never heard of nor seen. The biggest number I've had is around 500 or so on a large map. Your best hope is to destroy the ones that pose the biggest threat and hope the massive maintenance costs tank the Arcean economy.
