Very strange:. My Debug.err thinks the game is 1.5 yet the game thinks it's 1.6. Ill try redownloading the patch. Might be something broken there... Debug Message: Version v1.5 Dark Avatar last updated on: Mon Jan 15 15:09:22 2007

Ever since upgrading to DA 1.6 I have being having a few problems with various graphical things. The main problems are so: Oh and I don't want to have to revert to the old DL engine b/c play is so much smoother now. 1) No cultural borcders on main screen. They just aren't there. Still appear on minimap just fine however. 2)Single ships have a strange habit of disappearing when stacked. THey are invisible in both normal view and tactical view and take the whole stack with them. When

Actually, we've sent a few satellites through the "asteroid belt" without problems. Unlike asteroid belts in science fiction, real asteroid belts have a lot of space between asteroids. I wasn't saying it would be impossible to patrol because of how many asteroids there were (although that is a factor) I know how dense asteroid belts are. The reason it would be impossible to patrol is because it stretches right around the sun and distinguishing ships

Having said that I have just read a sci-fi book that I really enjoyed. My favourite genre is fantasy, and this particular book seemed just like a fantasy in space. While the plot and space technology were very well thought out and implemented, the story was still driven by the characters. The book if anyone knows of it or interested is the first of the Saga of the Seven Suns..... "the Hidden Empire" by Kevin J Anderson. There are definitely some parallels

Rapid response forces will take on a whole new meaning!! Heh and so will Mutually assured destruction. Station a few Bussard ramjets in your outer solar system and if anyone attacks you you send them back a them at 99%+ of cee. Having the thought of a ship which gains the relatavistic mass of a small moon crashing into your planet will sure put a damper on interstellar war. =P Ultimately, when (if) we finally get to th

true you would need more than one ship on patrol ie a fleet and commo every hear of a radio beacon If you were to put a string of ships one light day (26 billion km) apart between here and alpha centauri you would still need over fifteen thousand of them. Also Radio signals travel at lightspeed the same as all light, they are not instant and take time to travel to their destination. Ships moving around in interstellar space will have to be doi

ok that's fine my info is just 30 years old and since stars move To have moved that much closer in 30 years it would have had to have been traveling ~2.5 of light speed. Very unlikely. Its possible your old source was based on a faulty measurement however. That also seems unlikey as AC is one of the few stars we can measure by direct parallax so it's distance has been known for a long time very accurately. I suppose one day it may be technically

i ususally play large with 5 opponents on abundant. Any bigger my crappy computer slows down too much in the midgame. I play 2 levels above tough (I forget the name) and have never ever lost or even come close to losing. The problem is with the AI's management of fleets and how many defensive ships they build. When an opponent with maybe 3x my military rating declares on me it hardly matters because all of my ships are offensive in nature and I easily outmanovre and destroy their fleet

If you want to customise everything take a look at space empires 4. Its inferior to the GCII designer when it comes to visuals and you cant do much with "jewlery" but theres a whole shitload of parts and you can design everything even your ground troops... I especially like the super tech you can get near the end. Collapsing whole systems into black holes FTW! Overall a pretty average game though. Only good with MP and ive never found anyone to play a good game with.

Lol i thought this was going to be a question about the questionable methods needed to keep that many happy on one planet. Mind control and psychoactive drugs come to mind... Um in game turns ive never had a problem with it. Often i dont build on a 300% farm tile unless i want a transport building planet though. Just design a cheapo trannie and pump em out by the tonne. Either that or make sure you have as many trade goods like harmony crystals etc that help people to be happy. A coupl

yes all my antivirus progs really dislike galciv too. SD must have sneakily put in all sorts of nasty bugs!

I think this is probably a bug of some sort however. The planet looks like a gas giant! It might be possible however. C26 + colonisation event + neutral civ (opens up all tiles)

Aw heck whys the image not working... try again... I have to say this is pretty compelling proof that the ai needs to improve its planet handling abilities lol. Its had this one since near the st
