Ships are too easy to produce. As long as you have the resources and 2 or more light factories per system, you can produce new ships so fast nobody can invade you. Which is the same for the attacker. The one running out of resources first is the one that loses. So manage your economy well.
Vandenburg
I've made a small map (4 players, 5 suns, 43 planets, some hundred ships and buildings). Download link. The problem is, that when starting it, the game doesn't place the amount of ships and structures I've set, it looks like it just places an arbitrary large number. This of course, makes the map unplayable. Did anyon
Ok I did a search and found nothing but do inhibitors work differently now? Tired of seeing capital ships leave my planets with inhibitors. Yep, they now only block enemy ships from jumping to planets which you also own, ie. prevent them from jumping farther into your territory.
Arrrghhhh, I thought this was going to be a thread with lots of pictures of random supermodels!!!! Your wish shall be fulfilled.
It doesnt have to be anything special. Just a basic map. TIA Here you go. This is the only way to make a fully connected map right now. It's a bit of a pain to make all connections, but with a small script it goes easily.
Also I could see having 'mega' resource asteroids, that simply have more crystal than others Look closer, we already have that.
The ability to move constructors is very nice, but it added imho one big annoyance to the game. Constructors are shown as ships in the planet overview, when zoomed out. Before that, I could see with one glance which planets have ships and which not. Now I have to hover over it to see if there are only constructors, or other ships besides. I don't think that it is important to see constructors or to be able to select them when zoomed out, but it's more importan
I enjoyed it Vandenburg! Thanks You're too kind. ----------- I've tried again and the result sucks a bit less then the previous one, so I'll call it progress. Here's the link to the Yo
4.2) Change resource icons to 1000 (+7.5/s) If I want to hover and see the breakdown, okay. Seconded. 6) Colony ships. Can we get rid of these please? It's useless micromanaging and since there is no penalty for having a bajillion planets, there is no reason not to colonize everything. Make it so the pop goes to 0 and then if I have a majority military presence in the area, the planet shifts to my control after a set a
Don't worry, they do release patches between betas. You do have sent them the crash messages, mini dump, etc.? Or they won't be able to fix the crash, of course.
Having a planet with 15% allegience isnt really useless. You also gain the fleet com , crystals , metals , logistics for research , PLUS a very far away planet to trade bonus with , potential tactical ,chace of artifact. 15% allegience for the most part just means that the planet isnt raking in the same amounts of credits that your homeworld is. No, it works differently. You only get 15% of crystal and metal mining, fleet point
Speaking about the Sova and the AI, the AI tries to use carriers in battles in plasma nebulae, where they can't be used, thus losing lots of battles there. ------- More a modding related problem, but players seem to get a random playerId assigned, thus making it impossible to set teams so, that they'll start next to each other. Instead where they start is random (at least I've found no logic behind the assignment <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" bo
Did you set up the Planets with the right Team ID? He did. The problem is, it looks like the game assigns team ids quite randomly to the players, so that no set outcome is guaranteed.
3) Planet Area is too small, It needs to be expanded 2 to 3x for fleet operations. Have 2 areas the gravity well area, then free space for fleet operations and to jump. I know it's late in the development phase for this, but it would really add a lot to the epic feel of battles. With the "free space area", If you have watched the new Battlestar Galactica and the way they "jump" would be perfect, that way your fleet can stay in formation but appear at slightly different
virtualdub Thx, got it now. windows movie maker Windows movie maker? I've tried it, but IIRC it's not possible to change sounds there. The rest is all skill and experiance in movie making. Now, where do I download that? <img src="http://images.stardock.c
When I start or load the first game after starting Sins, the game stutters for half a minute up to two minutes. Afaik that's because the game is loading textures and stuff (my Radeon 9800 is pretty old). After this, all games following don't stutter in the beginning and get started nearly instantly. After this (which happens always just once) the game runs perfectly smoothly. I wonder if there can't be something changed, perhaps that the game preloads those textures or so? It's
Ok, I tried my hands on some Sins video. This is the result. Quite honestly, it sucks. Could anybody help me with naming good programs to: 1. capture the video from the game 2. edit and cut the video 3. compress it to a size which is usable Somebody got some tips?
Nice map LordKosc. The map is pretty balanced, since it's mostly a mirrored map. It even works with the AI. Only problem is (which hasn't much to do with the map), that the AI loves to battle in the plasma cloud between the two Terran planets. Unfortunately it also loves to use Sova carrie
I personally don't like the uneven numbers for research centers. This really skews the distribution of buildings sometimes, forcing me to build them always in pairs.
Yeah, same here, but I can live with the new system. I don't like it, and its annoying as can be, but I can live. The change was made because certain people couldn't learn to just not try and zoom inside that area. Why they couldn't is beyond me, but oh well. No, the old way sucked. The current one is a great improvement. And pressing enter is not much of a problem when I want to read messages. But not being able to zoom wherever I
I dunno, but it feels so different for some reason... Well, could be that because I've only played my own custom maps in the last few weeks with lots of modifications on game files, thus probably making game play very different, I get this impression with the unmodded game. Oh and btw. I just realized that I've posted in about 4 threads a
is it just me or do homeworlds have no chance of getting anything at the start of a game? Yep, they get absolutely nothing. I do think there should only be 1 level of exploration that just covers the whole planet 100% instead of having to explore it twice. I usually can't afford 1300 units + minerals at the beginning or even middle of an MP game to full explore 1 planet. Agree. Curre
As it is now , its like I am playing a game that uses the NEXT TURN method, without actually having to click "next turn"... Only that it is like turn 3542 where every AI and player has like 6433 gazillion ships and the next turn takes ages, so you can go watch a movie with some girl/boy, get married with her/him and get divorced, before the next turn comes up. It is really boring right now. (And it doesn't help, that the AI
Argh, doublepost. Sorry, please delete me.
Random small should be at most a 30 minute game... Corrected it for you. If you want to appeal to the rts players, that's about the limit for tiny maps in multi player. Ok, up to 45min is ok, everything above and you need really dedicated players to be able to finish a game with all players still on board... <img src="http://images.stardo
