Remember I was only focusing on SPEED... I'd like the elements of more 4x in this game, but with the speed of an RTS, as you stated "sadly the most 4X aspect it has is speed rate!" and thats the one aspect of the 4x style of play I don't want... Agree. Did the devs change something with the game speed/resource gather rate? I didn't play Sins for some days in anticipation of beta 3 and I don't remember it being so agonizingly slow. It r

Hmm... played some more and come to the conclusion, that idea isn't as bad as I thought. Money is now really more of a stopper (did something got changed? it feels slower now) in the early game. So well, yes I agree. Giving a bounty on militia could help some with money problems in the beginning.

I wonder if it's smart enough to, say, fix up shields on one of your capitals that's getting pounded rather than a small frigate No it's not. Basically the current AI is very stupid. And it won't be improved much until Beta 4 afaik. Even with big fleets battles are over very quickly because of all the focus fire that goes on. I've always imagined long engagements that left you time for reinforcements to arrive even fro

3. Asteroid Fields: ...their gravity well should be irregular. Yes, pretty please. Give us irregular gravity wells, please. the economy is a known bottle neck, if you gained money by killing the militia forces this would alleviate the problem early on, but would not affect the mid-late game where things are more liberal. Doesn't make sense and I don't think you should be able to make money this way

And thus making the game to a race for destroying the home world. Bad idea. ----------- Instead they could speed up resource collection rates and tax income (very slow atm.). Or they could include a variable time option. Hint, hint.

Yes, this was fixed. Click to left or right to go through the list and press space bar to go to that event. Now your screen doesnt jump all over the place when you just want to look through your list. Which makes the list very useful to me now, before I've never used it because of the jumping. Now I use it quite often. Why

I have, for the most part, enjoyed the zoom system. The only thing I would change is to have it zoom to the unit or object selected regardless of where the pointer is when something is selected, and otherwise zoom to the pointer. Disagree strongly. I really like zooming to some ship when I've the cursor over it and then "freezing" my view on this ship. Even when I've other ships selected. Planets and Stars on the other hand should never

Yes marauders have a warning so you can all try and out bounty each other. We find this leads to bounty races before the bidding ends and some really interesting economic strategies, particularly in multiplayer (the AI isn't told how to 'ebay' yet ). It's a really nice change. Me likes it a lot. Also zooming in on a ship and automatically locking the v

I agree. Planets being on different plains makes the map much nicer. Also did you increase the size of the sun, or is it just me? I like the capitals decreasing enemy culture. The change of pirates to local militia is also nice. Btw. did the marauders always gave a warning before riding, so you coul

The largest difference between Space Empires V (SEV) and Sins of a Solar Empire (Sins) is content. SEV has almost everything you can include into a 4x game while Sins has much less. In SEV you've got stars, planets, asteroid fields, black holes, nebulae, dyson spheres and ringworlds, planet creation and destruction, sun creation and destruction, etc. etc. In Sins you've 5 types of planets and 3 types of asteroids, 4 types of suns. No planet creation and destruction (destruction

This is beta test correct? How are we ment to test the game properly when only one race is included, the balance should be tested between races.I have never done a beta test before when most of the game is kept for a suprise. Yea, it's a pretty weird reason. We'll probably end up with quite some balance problems on release this way. Well, it's their decision. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL

Van you're defining "dont use" as "dont ever use", which is true that if you only "didnt ever use" 10% of your brain you would be dead, but you only really use "at a time" a certain portion. Well, my source (which isn't in English) attributes it to Scientology, but it can be wrong with that. But read this source here which is about this myth in the USA and gives some other sources. Even th

Remember humans only use about 20% of their Grey stuff (or is it 40%?). Point is it isn't much, but we invented amazing things already! Um, I thought it was 8%... Um, this is about as wrong as it gets. If your brain would only use 8% of it, you would be already dead. If it would only use 40% of it, you would be severely handicapped. This myth (we only us

Third, you have an actual diplomacy model (which is being "improved" shortly). Well, we have something which could be called a diplomacy model. Although the options available currently are laughable, compared to your usual options in 4X games. Though in the next patch we're supposed to get more "manual control" over both construction ships and trade vessels. Yeah, well I'm talking about the current beta.

Looks at Warcrafts numbers sold...13+ million to date. Yeah, I think I'm okay with that. The only problem is: WarCraft games are short (30 minutes is the norm), while Sins games are not (probably over 2 hours the norm). I doubt that you'll get substantial amounts of WarCraft gamers to play Sins (if they aren't already interested in space games, 4x games in general). As I recall the problem wasn't that the AI was inept

You'll find a new map option in there as well for quick games. Which isn't what I want. I do like the current speed of research, of the ships etc. I also like very large maps. But every game has phases where nothing much happens. If it is when I have to wait until my fleet arrives at the front or when I'm upgrading my planets in the back. Or when I just quickly want to try out how some changes in a map changes gameplay. <b

I'm assuming it's going to be Warcraft 3 in space with research bolted on, sound about right? Currently, yes-no. There are quite some differences in beta 2. First, there is a culture system, which allows to culture convert enemy planets. Similar to the one used in GalCiv2. Second, the map system is similar to the system used in Space Empires V, although warping takes time, the "field" contains only one planet/sun/asteroid inste

There isn't currently any speed changing settings in the public beta but we do have them in our internal builds. We haven't decided yet if we will make this a public option or not. Please do. At least for the single player mode. That would be the improvement I want most. It could speed up game play in single player so much. And it would help a lot with testing maps. Pretty please. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/BigSmile.gi

Heres the script thingy. Uh... quite hard to find something intelligible in all of this... You guys sure your talking to each other, and not just grunting random words? --------------- Anyway. Well the gas giants in our solar system have lots of moons and all of them have rings, they have a quite strong grav field so they catch things whi
