whats wrong with puting a starport and a couple factories on a low quality planet then making military spending the primary focus? it dosnt take that much longer to build smaller ships. though I do agree that the AI build choices seem a bit.... odd sometimes.

I have problems like this as well. Though not as bad as dm04 I have played a number of gigantic maps where i may as well have been playing smaller because, fully I half the map was empy sectors, with a singe star cluster in a corner, which cant be occupied untill mid game due to the distance.
Little to do with my name scheme has escaped mention in the thread so far. My naming scheme is based loosely on mythology, animals, or whatever I feel like at the time. This gives me a range, from big planned ships like “Mjollnir” (the name of Thor’s Hammer) to some medium fighters which I call “Sun Fish” Or have little “Bug Fighter”s and crappier looking ships which I design in a hurry such as the “Folly” which was created with an air of “This Isnt Going to WoRK!” which I’m
i would dig on a hot key that would scroll through ships with movement points remaining. and more complicated, but dunno how so, i would really Like to be able to "Hide" fleets in uninhabited star systems for some surpise attack action.
