Well, I'm on dialup, so I'm waiting to get to a wifi location to update. And I'm waiting until 1.1 to do that. Unless the updates are less than 10MB. Anyone know off hand how large they are? =$=

[Edit: I see now that I screwed everyone up with a typo....sorry!] Okay, I meant to say, why play as anyone but the YOR. And, by that, I wasn't referring to racial bonuses. What I meant was, why not choose the Yor every time and make up your own bonuses? If you like the humans, then pick the Yor and give them all the human bonuses. You'll be playing as a human who has logistics 8 and more than 2x the techs. Except for that one comment you made about the humans getting s
Okay, I'm going to add a question here. Why ever play as humans? They get the least techs? Or...why play with any race other than the Torians who have logistics 8? Or, is the answer simply that it's a single player game, so balance isn't really a huge deal. In other words, you can always make a custom race that's "better than the others" but part of the fun is winning the game as your preferred race. I don't care either way, but it's b
I noticed that many of the races get default bonuses that you can't get just by buying them with points. For example, the Thalans' 40% Loyalty, or the Torians' 20% Courage. Does this mean its usually 'better' to play the races as they are? Or do most of you simply pick a race that looks cool and then completely re-haul them to suit your play style? I'm a bit of a role player, so I like to either keep the racial bonuses or modify them slightly, but
I'm surprised at the amount of people who post answers to questions that know less than I do. The blind truly do try and lead the blind. If it wouldn't create flames I'd "preach" on these forums that people should stop answering posts until they've educated themselves first. You see it all over the internet, but this particular community seems to be worse than average. I hate even mentioning it, but good grief, it causes so much confusion here.<br/
Herione, there is no reason to be a forum jerk, just because you haven't understood my post. What I find ironic is how you have convinced yourself I don't understand GalCiv II, when the reality is that you yourself haven't examined enough to understand it. Please, before you make such an omniscient comment, educate yourself. None of what I posted was incorrect. I understand the economic system perfectly. Also, you obviously didn't read the most
How do I tell what a maximum pop for a planet will be? At first I thought it was because I don't have enough farms, but then I noticed that planets with lower ratings seem to have a population cap. Is there a way to figure out about what the pop cap is gonna be? I can't stand taking planets only to find I can only get about 2 billion people there, and they can be taken out easily by a lone troop transport. I'd rather just pass those planets by! Th
I think it would be cool if they added some new "anomaly events" where different things might happen when you encounter the anomaly depending on different things, like: ship equipment, empire attributes, ethics, governments, diplomacy level, etc... An entire expansion pack devoted to adding an deeper "exploration" portion the the game would be worthwhile IMHO. I wonder if something like this can be modded? I can't see them making an entire Ex-pack o
@Rygel No, I understand what is going on and what the problem is. @Todd Thanks. Yeah, I'm stuck with dialup for the next few days, so I can't get online and download the latest. I did look through the changelogs before I posted. I must have missed the one about the Soc bonus. Good to know I'm not making things up. =$=
As long as they're aware, and the game is balanced around it, I am not concerned. I just hope they are really, really sure the AI doesn't have loop-holes around it. Thanks for actually addressing me, rather than just complaining about my post like the other guy. Sometimes people become too easily defensive over things, I think. I will add, too, that if they are going for a Gal Civ III,
I don't know about any other user suggestions. This is my first post, and it is something I noticed immediately when trying to manage my empire. I can not fill up my factories no matter what I do (unless I set labs to 100%, for example) even though I have plenty of money to do so. I don't suggest they do anything, but fix the bug! If a developer were to come in here and explain that it is an intentional design of the game, I'd actually feel MUCH better, because it means the AI can't do it ei
[Edit: I've been informed that the developers know about this. Please don't over-react, I am now aware of it. Skip to the PS if you want to.] I am going to try my best to explain this one, but it involves numbers and is a bit complicated. The problem lies with Industrial Capacity and Spending Distribution . If you're already lost, go find out what those are before you read any more. Here is the problem: The Spending Distribution artificially divides the effect o
