Hmm. If you copy and paste the exact code above, you only need to change the first instance, the one in between the star lines (should be on line 12 or thereabouts.) No other instances need to be altered.

I'm away from my main machine now, but a stab in the dark would be to just reverse everything--or better, create more conditionals so that it only requires the change of one variable from "down" to "up" and the rest takes care of itself.
