I was always timid about this WMI stuff and pulling info from your computer but you made it look so simple. Now I'm gonna give it a shot. Thanks for the tut! BTW: You're a JourneyMan now! And not for nothing either. You're work is a great community service. Thank you. <img src="http://images.stardock.com

Yes, indeedy. DX rules! Happy DXing, and if you have any problems just ask around on the forums. There are lots of friendly DXers around.
Where is my inbox ? At the top of this page next to My Account > Watchlist > My Posts > My Replies there should be Private Messages. Click on it and there's your inbox.
Woot! Just sent a PM to myself. Add this to all the other personal mailboxes I have to check (and reply to) everyday and it could take a good while to get the day started.....if I ever received any mail, that is. Will it be possible to send from a users page? For instance if you wa
Oh, I see it now, thanks. I'm seeing alot of new features & effects now.
I can check my inbox but I can't seem to find where I can send one.
Can't be done in DX. You've got to do it in your graphics program first.
Excellent stuff! I'm working on a coupla things. I'm still on my RSS widget, also doing a weather for my NrG theme. These are mostly on the backburner because I'm now working on a widget that will put my scripts and pieces of codes I frequently use at my fingertips. It looks like your basic todo list but all you do is L-click on the item and it will copy the assigned code to clipboard. While I was working on another project I found it very annoying to open up several differen
Put bluntly, I don't understand how anyone can tolerate/be satisfied with any OSes default look, they're all unimaginative and boring HEY! I still use Luna XP! Since I seem to be the only one here who does I guess I should speak up. Customizing is a hobby, and like all hobbies some people really love it and some people don't care much for it. Like all hobbies it is large
Congrats, Zubaz!
As far as I can tell, nope. There's no way to change an object from image to text via script; it's all gotta be done in properties. 320?!
Thanks for the link Quentin. That helps.
Thanks for the tips. I’ll go with JPEGS. I’ll exclude the 800 and put in the 1650 because I got a request for that size from someone else, too. How popular are the 1280 x 768 and 1280 x 960 sizes?
I'm of the opinion that a widget has massive potential, and is a powerful tool, but is a niche product. They're cool but most people can live without them. I can't see that they'll ever be the next iPod. I usually only run 2 at a time. I prefer widgets to objects because I don't have to have DX running. I don't know about overhype- I had never even heard of a widget before I stumbled upon DX, so it wasn't like a widget was this thing that I kept hearing was going to be the next big step in techn
Uploading some walls. There are 4 wall sizes in each zip. 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024, 1600x1200. Should I go with JPEGS or BMPs? Bitmaps show up nicer on most desktops but Jpegs have a smaller file size. I can't decide. ETA: Also, are there any other really popular sizes I should include?
What image type are you using? Bitmaps and Jpegs will work but PNGs and other image types will not. They will make the wall blank.
Where do Tutorials fit in? Do they belong on the Community page as well? I'd like to see the Community Tutorials have a good spot on this page also; most popular, most recent, featured, etc. seperate from the Articles. Maybe display the top ten in one of those categories of Community Tutorials (recent, popular, or featured) and have links to the other categories, or the Tutorials page underneath. We really need tutorials (especially the Community Tutori
To sViz: You are absolutely right about what people want. However the demand is always defined by proposal. May be they need something else? But they can't find here nothing except clocks, weather and calendars. You're right about that, Vad. Simply put, who knew they couldn't live without their cell-phone until cell-phones were invented? Who knew they had to have Windows Vista until Windows Vista was created? Point being, if you build it they will come.
lets not forget that if DesktopX was ONLY for the Super intelligent crowd of programmers and Script writers then sales on DesktopX might dwindle to a handful. I spend my time encouraging people that find DX impossible to figure out. Its not an easy program for the masses - but it can be a " fun" program too. Im all for widgets that actually can make my life easier ....but it seems after the initial introduction of DesktopX and objects/widgets the interest in finding ne
Okay, I've just gotta say this because it's been bugging me for a while. I don't see any demand. As much as we'd like to see the galleries filled with mind-blowing widgets, you go to the most popular hall of fame and you will find weather, clocks, to do lists, and wallpaper changers. It is evident that this is what as vast majority of people want. They need to know the time and date, they need to know the weather, they need to make a list, and they'd like to change their wallpaper and look at fa
I think you need to combine the website address and search text like below: Function Object_OnLButtonUp(x,y,dragged) If dragged = False Then DesktopX.ScriptObject("wiki_Browser").Control.Navigate2 "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/" & DesktopX.ScriptObject("textbox").Control.Text End If End Function Does this help?
DX Themes - There are so many issues with Themes, most people have no idea how to make these work for THEM. I have tried to make several Widgets that allow customization without anyone having to know how to use DX, VAD_M's work is the perfect example of this, Look at the LAUNCH BAR it allows ANYONE to use it without ever opening up DX in "BUILDER" mode. Somehow we need to get THEMES to this level so that everyone can use them!! I completely agree t
Hey, Koradin. Add the code below to the script and it should work. Credit goes to Garibaldi99 and Quentin94. Sub object_Onlbuttonup(x,y,d) If Not d Then jpgFName= grpofpics(picscount-1) LSetWallpaper(jpgFName) End If End Sub Sub LSetWallpaper(jpgFName) Set fso = CreateObject ("Scripting.FileSystemObject") Set windowspath = fso.GetSpecialFolder(2) winbmp = windowspath & "\wallpaperfile.bmp" winjpg = windowspath & "\wallpaperfile.jpg
You got my vote! I also wonder about the *new potential skinner of DX..When all they see produced are the weather & clcok widgets...what do you expect them to make?... I agree. We need to showcase the possibilites of DX. Let people know how much can be done with it. Inspire more dynamic creations. Show them all the cool ideas and get the creativity flowing!
looks like hail to me.... That's what I thought at first but I figured it would have lightning and dark clouds to go along with it.
